The Never-Too-Late Tattoo Parlor

edit: thank you My nadia…you just reminded me that I too like squats  VIBIN OFF YOU LOG!!!

Those were beautiful squats.

Yeah, I’d be pretty scared going over backwards on that handstand. Could you try it once with a spotter to take some of the fear away?

awesome squats and krocks

your depth on those is beautiful.

awesome squatting. other vid won’t load… assuming it’s the Kroc Rows reading other posts. happy that your coach didn’t drop or keep the same weight for you. Josh is the same way. love mind games that push over the edge.

I wonder if the deadlift people correspond with the dog people.
I am a deadlift person and a dog person.
Are the squatting people here cat people??
hmmm

Amazing video BTW.

I love being your virtual gymn coach, so it all works out!

It is so apparent that you’re confidence is increased with the squats, you’re handling that weight like a champ! It makes my day that you “think” you may like squatting.

And Spock: Dogs and squats

Nice squats. Nice depth.

I’m glad to see you walking the weight backward.

I am a deadlift and a cat person. Some dogs are sweet and I grew up with a lovely dog (plus two cats) but I definitely prefer pussy.

As for the squats, excellent work there.

being taken out of context in 3…2…1… LOL

So do I!!!

Wait, wut?

hmmm I like both.

all depends on my mood and the personality. Mostly I’m a deadlift/cat person.

i love snatches!! but i prefer pulling to standing the bloody weight up, that is for sure.

All my best and favorite coaches were a bit stand-offish when it came to my constant over-analysis of failed attempts and/or bouts of defeatism and/or general hysteria - normally they would just give me a blank look while I drone, give me a slap on the shoulder and walk away. LoL!! And for that I’ve been ever so grateful, since as you showed, when left to one’s own devices, one can indeed supersede.

haha. so true.

i see progress…

Thanks Brute. I’m always jonesing off your dls and squats. So, I’m happy to remind you–that you LOVE to squat. And you are so awesome at it! Seriously, amazing!

Masch: I think I’m pretty hard to coach. Heady. Emotional. Stubborn. And I have not had a lot of coaches that I have liked and respected. So, I feel lucky right now. He’s really helping me.

Oh muscle ups! I did a really bad one once. They kind of hurt my elbows. I think there is a lot of technique to those. It’s not a pure strength move. For me, the trick was shifting my hands around the bar. I think I started the pullup with a false grip, pull explosively than shift your hands up and around the back of the bar.

Thanks kimba. Yes, I could probably ask the open gym guy for a spot. I’ve had him stand there before when I first tried a back tuck again. I’m afraid I’ll kick him the face though. ANd I don’t want to do that.

Thanks frenchie!

Koub: Yep, a good coach trains your head too and not just your body.

Spock: Hmm tough call about the cat/ dog/ squat/ Dl thing. I like cats and dogs. Outwardly, I’m probably more of a cat person. Independent, stand offish. Thos who know my insides, will say I’m a total dog. Loyal, devoted, drools a lot…

Lula: I’m warming up to the squats. It’s really helped and inspired me to watch you squat.

Snap: Yep, I finally was made to turn around. PUllup guy was unpersuaded by my everyone else is doing it wrong argument–which I still think I’m right about, of course. But, I want his help. ANd it comes with conditions. Safety first.

Cal and frenchie–cat/dl. Lula squat/ dog. Spock SDL/dog. forced to choose, I’m going to say I’m cat/dl too.

Busy and Koub. Cal really does have a delightful way with words.

ALexus: Yes. I’m feeling good about training right now. Really good about squats. Right now.

Dls yesterday. Sent this video of my 265x1 to pullup guy. His response made me laugh.

“Yuck. That looked bad.”

Why is that funny to me? Because my eye is untrained, and I don’t see my mistake. What? I made the lift? What?! It felt pretty good.

Speed work today.

This is going to be an every sunday thing. I’m moving my DLS to saturday. I’m going to run without a plan and without a watch. And I’m going to vary the shit out of my track workouts. Now is not the time for measuring. It’s too soon. I have too much work to do. And constantly looking for progress and improvement is a distraction.

The last 100 meters of the track was a little icy today. So, I did this.

200 (walk 200 to recover)
300 (walk 100 to recover)

x6. Each 200 and 300 together counted as 1 rep.

I was done after 5, but really wanted 6. My last 300 involved some flailing to get to the finish. But, I made it.

I’m happy to have a set day for my track workouts. And I’m happy with my plan to not have a plan. For now.

Oh I’m late to the squat party! S’okay I brought a Hostess gift.

Beautiful beautiful depth back there last page just lovely! Omgosh.

And srsly um 105x3 is my bench PR so LOL.

Didn’t look bad to me, actually - and that’s a very heavy lift for your weight so a little rounding in the t-spine can be forgiven. So grats.

is he serious? maybe he is teasing?? will be interested to hear why he said that… lolz about your being a pain to coach  tee hee.

It’s the cookies.

Keep eatin em for me!

a little shakey but I’ve seen way worse lifts by far…

265, nice work! Is that a PR?

(gross over-generalization in 3…2…1…)

That response is precisely why I tend to prefer guy coaches. I would rather be told straight up what they think than have smoke blown up my ass. (I’ll go cry about it for a minute or two, but still, tough love). But yes, to my untrained eye, looked great!
