That’s what I’ve always heard. There’s no boys gymnastics in my state, but I know of some guys who do it in other places and they’re the same - incredible upper body, tiny legs. Usually some definition due to leanness, but no mass. The girls though…the majority of girl gymnasts I know are not lacking at all in thigh/hip muscle (in a good way), haha
Different events for men and women’s gymnastics, so different demands. No rings or pommel horse, so upper body musculature and mininal lower body not as beneficial.
And people were proposing their own definitions and personal preferences. There’s nothing wrong with that, and there has been plenty of healthy debate.
Isn’t that the entire point of the question? Its not objectively answerable and that’s what makes for an interesting discussion on a question that has no strictly correct answer. If there were a correct answer it wouldn’t be a conversation it would be an answer.
The opening lines of the post could not be more self explanatory.
Why should the title limit the discussion to ‘what characteristics’?. You realise that is just as ambiguous as the current title? Physical characteristics? Mental characteristics? You’re pedantry is saying the same thing but adding more words for the sake thereof.
Personally I find it difficult to choose one athlete.
I grew up playing football (soccer to you), so I really appreciate the skill. Balance , speed, ball work and the acrobatic ability to jump in the air do to a bicycle kick while making contact with a ball coming at you at speed and putting the ball in the top corner. Like others above I agree there is usually a lack of upper body strength with football players. Upper body strength is not that important in football, although it can be useful.
Although not my favourite athlete, Ronaldo is probably one of the most all rounded football player. Adam Traore is probably the most impressive when it comes to physique and speed.
Although fictional, I would also like to mention Spider-Man. The acrobatic skills, fighting ability and physique is something I aspire to.
