The Morality of Eating Meat

rainjack…

You rep Texas well brother…

You look like a good “world citizen” I checked out your mini city and the environment looks good there…
Ha ha

Solid

There’s no objective measure of morality. I personally wouldn’t have any regret eating humans if they weren’t protected by law and therefore the consequences of punishment. Certain animals are protected from “animal cruelty” because the representatives the citizenry elected or let become elected by not participating passed laws dictating such.

You make the bold assumption that the ozone depletion is man’s fault. You need proof. Funny about that - I keep asking for proof of your position, and you never provide any.

There is no shortage of oil. Once again - where’s the proof?

The only propaganda I see is the swill you and lixy are slinging.

Proof, honey. You need it to make you assertions valid.

It’s not a philosophy. It’s called common sense.

what in anything i have said makes me spoiled? the fact i don’t agree with you? c’mon babe… we don’t have to agree, I don’t give a shit. But you don’t see me implying you r stupid for what you think… we are both entitled to believe what we want. I am merely frustrated by your narrow mindedness. I think your self-righteous indignation is preventing you from seeing where I’m coming from because u r missing the meaning in every statement I have made. U did the same with what Makaveli and Trixy were saying… try to read some sense into what we’re sayin…

What’s narrow minded about wanting just a little proof from you? What’s narrow minded in calling bullshit on someone who swears up and down we are raping the planet? Think what you want. Believe what you want. But posting such beliefs in an open forum opens them up for argument.

For someone who is so damn sure of your position - you certainly have a hard time backing it up.

There’s no sense to be read into what you are saying. That is my entire problem with you and the enviro-whackos.

[/quote]

BOLD ASSUMPTION?!?! Honey, who else is depleting the ozone? Who else is burning fuel and puffing ridiculous amounts of nicotine and god knows what else into the air?

We are at war with a country purely for oil. The economic law of supply and demand proves that we are in an oil shortage… the demand is obviously higher than our supply or we wouldn’t be charging $3.xx per gallon and refusing to use our reserves. That is a documented FACT. Just go to 7-11 and look for yourself. Science can and has proved that the worlds natural oil supply is now marginal. Scientists and automobile manufacturers are both scrambling to find way to alternately fuel our race. FACT. Do you really think it is happening because all is right in the world? your naivete is cute

Here is some supporting information on my position, just like you asked for… not that you will accept there is any validity to it. Have you given any proof to the fact that all of this is false?

So, you are telling me that all aerologists, agronomists, geophysicists, meteorologists, geologists, economists, animals, AND the technology we SUPERIOR humans have developed are all plotting against your unsupported beliefs… WOW! That’s some conspiracy theory you got there… How is it narrow minded if i take into account the information all of these professions provide and form an educated opinion? That is the direct OPPOSITE of narrow minded. I sought information, I researched and read publications from multiple contributers on these topics. There is information backing these findings in every possible arena available to us. How about i PM all these published findings to you one at a time? lol

Where is the research showing donkeys and monkeys are contributing to ozone depletion? There isn’t any… Where is the research supporting we have plenty of oil? There isn’t any… If i am wrong, which god knows i sometimes am, then you send me all the published information backing your beliefs. I’ll be back in 5 minutes and we will see you in a few months

Not quite. No other species possesses the ability to comprehend the notion of extinction. They will consume until there is nothing left to consume, and they will die off.

It happens all the time.

No other being on the planet gives a flying fuck about the damn ecosystem besides humans.

You have a colossal misunderstanding of oil production, global warming, ozone depletion and weather patterns.

My head hurts.

Thanks, Zap that is proof that SOME of us do care. But I meant overall, as one collective group we do not. The things you mentioned are often forced by laws and fines. I wish all people and organizations would do things like these of their own accord. It was just a rhetorical generalization to show that the repair cannot keep up with the damage. It saddens and frustrates me but nevertheless it is true, We wouldn’t have these things if we didn’t need to reverse or clean up the damage we cause.

Name calling is great!

Keep doing this good work.

lol, good. I’m glad someone caught that. That was intended to be ridiculously reaching, exaggerated and overly dramatic… my point being we r fucking things up for later if we don’t act now.

It is this kind of exaggeration that causes people make bad decisions.

We have environmental problems but we are continually working to improve.

We have issues in meat packing but for the most part things are done properly.

Don’t fall for the hype.

None of that is offsetting what we’re doing to the planet globally. We’re pushing up NO, OH, Cl, Br, CFCs all the time, leading to ozone depletion. Deforestation and desertification are crawling at an increasing rate. The seas, rivers and other lakes are getting filthier by the day. Asthma is hitting more and more people. Species are going extinct, etc.

Only radical changes in our lifestyles can reverse this course. Tiny bandaids on this hemorrhage is not going to change anything.

So no, we “as a group of beings” don’t give a flying duck about it.

I did not intend for that to be taken literally and I hear exactly what you are saying. I am glad u r acknowledging that there are issues. My biggest concern is how big and reaching that WE you speak of is… can We do enough to improve if THEY refuse to acknowledge the problems and join the improvement? I sure as hell hope so. I don’t want to think the world i leave my daughter will be worse off than it is now.

Lot’s of talk. No proof.

You made the statements. You back them up. Reading AL Gore is not proof.

Now - either go find some links proving your point, or just admit to talking out of your ass. It is obvious you are too lazy to back up anything you say.

Look - you are way late to this dance. Everything you have to say has already been said and debunked hundreds of times on this website.

You are new. Your rhetoric is old, played, and quite frankly very uninspiring.

Have a great mother’s day. And stop wasting it by making a blubbering fool of yourself.

I don’t see any reason to have sex with my mother but do not consider it wrong morally because, as I have said, there is no objective measure of morality. However I believe there would be consequences to such an action that I am not willing to bear, therefore, even if I felt it necessary to have sex with my mother, it would only be measured against the consequences of doing so. If there were no consequences, it’s difficult to say if I would have any such compulsion to do so since the perception of consequences themselves form the basis of reinforcing sexual attraction.

We aren’t the only animals that cause harm to the planet, sharks piss and shit in the ocean. That can’t be a good thing.

really? which point would you like me to prove exactly? Let me know and i’ll send you what you want. You’re arguing with things i’ve said and you’ve said to the point I’m not sure what the hell we are talking about anymore.

what has been debunked? and by whom? lixy agrees with me, makavali and i were saying the same things, even Zap and I can get on the same page and agree there are issues with our environment…

you are the only one disagreeing with me baby and no one here is jumping in to support any of your comments…

what does the time i have been a member of this website have anything to do with views on environment and meat? This is not some super elite ultra exclusive club… it’s a public forum

Don’t wish me a happy anything and then insult me - yet again… where is the superior intellect you claim to automatically possess by being a human??

Don’t worry about that. Many species of sharks are on the verge of extinction.

Seriously though, shark piss and shit is organic and non-toxic. Pesticides, industrial waste and other toxins which we dump in the oceans are creating a myriad of problem for the marine fauna and flora.

this is from Times The Times & The Sunday Times

this includes finding from IEA

You are right that in the fact that we are not going to run out today or tomorrow, but production cannot keep up with supply and ever increasing global population. It will start to run out in the near future.

Go to msnbc and check out the oil and energy section, Daniel Yergin of Cambridge Energy Research Associates debunks the "peak oil’ theory as he discusses a new report that says the world’s oil supply will not begin to run out for at least another 24 years… but 24 years isn’t shit
