Well, I’ve returned from my college visit to SIU. I really enjoyed the place and got a good feel for it. I talked with the ROTC department while I was there and got nothing but good vibes. They’ve had multiple cadets in the top 100 for the last few years in a row, they have a Ranger challenge team and a shooting range close by. But the best part about my meetings with them was the money that I could get. They took a look at my credentials and they said that they could give me a 3.5 year federal scholarship, which would pay for room and board, meal plan, and books.
I could then get a tuition waiver from the state of Illinois that would cover my tuition and fees. All of that combined with my monthly stipend and I could come out of college with absolutely NO student loan debt and maybe even some good money saved up (about $14,500 tax free money from the government). So, it sounds like a really good plan to me.
Thanks. Nothing is official yet; I haven’t even applied there, so we’ll see where this goes. If everything works out, then I’m getting my ass out of the house and going to college asap so I can get a move-on with my life.

How’s that internship/job/whatever you got going?

Good. First assignment is due Wednesday. I should find out about the research position by then.
It’s been a hectic week with my college visit and working like a dog, so I’ll be back to squatting tomorrow, benching on Wednesday, and deadlifting on Thursday. This realization week and deload will be the last of the Juggernaut Method. After that, I’ll be transitioning to the Military Athlete Operator sessions as planned. Hoping that with my 15-16 week plan, I’ll become a stud (or at least something close to a badass) before I leave for school.
Something completely unrelated to training, but somewhat exciting: I was hanging out with some friends tonight and we were jamming in a garage and we ended up writing a song. Like, a real song. My friends played guitar and I sang. We’ve got a rough copy right now, but once we refine it in the next couple of weeks, I’ll get it up for y’all.

Lol possibly. I have red/blonde facial hair, but I’ll do my best. It mostly depends on what my new lady friend will think of it. I have a date with her on Saturday night, but I’m going with a clean shave for that just in case. If we hit it off, then I’ll test the waters.
So I’ve finally got a finite work schedule going on, so I can train at the same time every day, which makes things A LOT easier. Here’s what my training schedule will look like:
Sunday
A.M.: Operator Session
P.M.: Rest/Work
Monday
A.M.: Run/PT
P.M.: Rest/School
Tuesday
A.M.: Rest/Work
P.M.: Operator Session
Wednesday
A.M.: Run/PT
P.M.: Rest/School
Thursday
A.M.: Rest/Work
P.M.: Operator Session
Friday
A.M.: Run/PT
P.M.: Rest/School & Work
Saturday
A.M.: Operator Session
P.M.: Rest/Work
Recovery and supplementation will be a lot more accessible due to my schedule and working at a GNC hehe. I plan on stretching and PVC rolling 2-3 times a day, every day. I also might give C.T. Fletcher’s “Arms Everyday” thing a go haha.
Supplements will be:
Protein
Glutamine
BCAAs
Creatine
Multivitamin
Fish oil
Vitamin C
ZMA
Carb powder
Quest bars
So I checked out a local CrossFit gym yesterday and found out that they’re USAW certified and have olympic lifting-only classes every weeknight at 6:30. I went for a free session today and I fell in love with oly lifting. Here’s how the workout went:
Warm-up
PVC roll everything
Stretching
Walking lunges
Walking instep stretch lunges
PVC snatch progression
Snatch
1 X 3 X 65
1 X 3 X 70
1 X 3 X 85
2 X 3 X 95
Notes: Took a couple of sets to really get the movement down, but I think I got it pretty well. The instructor said that I caught on extremely quick and had better mobility than expected.
High Snatch Pull
1 X 4 X 135
2 X 4 X 155
Squats
1 X 6 X 185
Summary: Had to cut it short so the other CrossFit class could start, but I had an awesome time and I can’t wait to see what the WOD will be tomorrow. I think I’ve finally found my niche.
“Nancy” 5 Rounds for Time
Run 400m
15 Overhead Squats (75 lbs.)
Results: 19:26
Summary: Not bad, but I started off way too fast and didn’t pace myself. The “girls” as we call them only come up once every couple of months the way we cycle through them, so I’m shooting for a sub 17:00 next time around with 95 lbs. (as advised) for the overhead squats. Going to do my oly workout with clean and jerks tomorrow.
