The Man In The Cellar

Love classical - never thought of using some orchestra high energy for training. Dp you have any song suggestions?
I’ll see what I can do about the picture. Won’t be an issue, really. As for the music…

A good one is actually on Good Charlotte’s “…Life and Death” album. It’s titled “The Battle for (or of) Life and Death.”

 • Messa da Requiem-Dies Irae
 • Polovtsian Dance No. 4 2.18
 • O Fortuna-Carl Orff
 • Also Sprach Zarathustra-Introduction
 • The Planets-Mars, The Bringer of War (sooooo fitting!)
 • The Firebird-Danse Infernale

Look up Karl Jenkins. I listen to a lot of his work. Some of which are:

 • Adiemus (Adiemus I)
 • Un Bolero Azul (Adiemus III)
 • Intrada and Pavan (Adiemus III)
 • Dos a Dos (Adiemus III)
 • Mare Crisium (Imagined Oceans) awesome for running or any cardio.
 • Dies Irae (Requiem)
 • Sanctus (The Armed Man) if you can get view this DVD, I would highly recommend it. Really moving.

That’s all I’ll share for now. Let me know if you have trouble finding these. I can email the files to you, if necessary.

If I had Beethoven’s 9th on my iPod, I’ll get DL PR time after time

Nice dips.
And I’ll let that “Making up for the bench” slide… just this once though! =D
Speak yo’ mind, Babygirl! Speak yo’ mind!

Beethoven is also in my mix.

It should become a personal rule of mine to never go a full day without doing something! By the time I got to the gym, I was chomping at the bit to start putting in work! It’s a good thing it was a back workout! It’s also a good thing nothing stupid happened today to feed into my irritability. Days like today, “low-profile” is a must.

I did happen upon a bunch of used trailer tires…I’ll probably go talk to the mechanics tomorrow and try to snag a couple. I miss flipping them. I know if I start, I’ll probably end up scaring away my training partners. If you could see my face, you’d be witnessing my “caring” face. They still don’t understand when I say I have to burn off the excess energy. They think me psychotic… Not too far off-base with that thought. Thankfully, they haven’t met Mr. Black, yet. Things haven’t gotten that bad in a while.

So, some humor for the day…I was asked by a woman how to attain a body like Jessica Biel’s in three days. I didn’t miss a beat when I told her “You start 3-6 months ago.” Cue the flirting! Her response was, “You were supposed to tell me I’m already there!” I just looked at her and her buddy, who is, hands down just sexy, and grinned. But…in all honesty, she has the frame for that specific look. Very athletic build, just a bit soft, though. I offered to work with her upon her return from R&R. She lit up at this. We’ll see how invested she is. Now for the work.

Now the true test is going to be whether I manage to wake up on time tomorrow morning! I decided to start adding creatine to my protein shake, so I’ll see how I do with it again. For now, time to study.

I would much rather “compete” with your “psychotic” self on the tire flips than ask for a jessica biel program. I must remember to be tolerant.

won’t the creatinz like totally bring out Mr. Black bro?!? (just in case the internetz fail this was a total attempt at a joke)

Thank you for the list of songs - I’ll look for them and let you know if I’m having issues.

And of course very nice deads.

Just spent the last hour going through your list on youtube. Thank you for taking the time to write those down. I especially like the saturn song.

That woman was flirting with you and probably worked forever on that line, and you give her a logical answer?!
sigh At least you’re strong ;D

Fantasmical work today.
Yes, I said fantasmical.

Hell, it’d be awesome to have a woman “compete” with me on the tire-flipping! Tolerance is a necessary evil, sometimes. But…like I said…I think she was flirting.

And let me know if you’d like more music. I’ve got a lot.

I’m not half bad at deciphering jokes on the interwebz, by the way. Some of my coworkers seem to think that, however, about the createenz. Steriod accusations also float about… I typically offer to whip it out and piss in a cup. That gets them to back away quickly.

Stronger than you give me credit for, apparently. I got that she was flirting with me, however, acting on it would have been problematic for two reasons: my training partner standing right beside me, and hers right beside her, smiling away. I would have eagerly gone after her training partner! But, my number 1.1 rule for doing dirt: NO WITNESSES!!! That’s how drama comes to pass.

And I like your word, fantasmical, although I’ll never use it.

Ah…woke up in a pretty good state, this morning. That’s always a good thing. Got to the gym, and opted for a more…practical training session.

You know there a gal in PW with the same facepull numbers

Just lighting a fire under your butt.lol. Not that you need one of course. I’m just amazed at what she can accomplish.

Yeah, flirting around witnesses is awkward to say the least. I mean, you know they’re going to talk about you and be all goo-goo gah-gah.

Sure, you might sound fruity saying fantasmical, but it works in my favor :stuck_out_tongue:
Ha, now I’m picturing you setting the 115# bar after presses and say “Phew! What a fantasmical set!”

You’re in the gym a lot… I like it!

I was only trying it out. I’d never done them before. I like them. I’ll do more next week. Ain’t no chick gonna out-do me… I love seeing a woman get after it in the gym. It’s pretty telling.

Flirting around folks isn’t a problem for me, typically. Flirting around a bunch of folks here in Afghanistan, where the military has certain rules, and most kats around here can’t keep their mouths shut… not smart.

I might have to use that word, just because… And the gym is like my second home, really. Out here, at least.

I almost forgot about this morning’s fun! From getting pissed off at my alarm waking me at 4:00, to waiting on the training partner who asked to do this early morning training session, to my damned mp3 player dying on me…I was pretty much NOT up for this session! But, like a good trooper, I powered thru it.

17 January 2011
Too got-damn early…

Superset
Reverse-Grip Biceps Curls (w/EZ-Curl Bar)
55 x 12 x 10
Skull-crushers
65 x 10 x 10

Alt. Hammer Curls
30 x 24 x 5
Single-Arm Dumbbell Tri-Ext. (OH)
30 x 15 x 5

Barbell Curls
65 x 10 x 3

I hated every second of this session as I just could not find my groove or intensity. Contemplating going this afternoon and working on my cleans.

Contemplation soon turned into action. I managed to come alive just in time to go to my second office, and it was worth it. I did what I wanted, as well as what I love.

17 January 2011
Evening

Hang Cleans (w/full squat)
95 x 3 x 5
115 x 3 x 8

Power Cleans (w/full squat)
115 x 3 x 3
135 x 3 x 2

Instructing!! Had a couple of newcomers arrive with Thai pads and gloves. We spoke for a few minutes, and they asked that I join them. As it became evident that they still had a lot to learn, especially with the basics, I went from participating to instructing. Not sure when it happened, but I’ve come to love teaching/coaching/instructing. Especially when you see that the pupil “gets it.” This session closed out with several others asking if they can either join in, or if I could help them with their training goals. Definitely an awesome feeling. Didn’t hurt that the two ladies that I mentioned previously came looking for me, as well. To help them with their pullups. The cuter of the two actually opened up a bit more, as well. I behaved, though. I am a monk, after all!

Oh no, no music?!
You had a rough morning… saying “fantasmical” would have made it all better.

Awesome day, I love instructing in training as well. Although the best part is that I don’t know it all, and never will, I’m shocked at how knowledgeable I look compared to others lol

First come pull-ups, then come…

This morning was supposed to be a morning of sleeping in, as I was completely exhausted last night after training. Pity it didn’t work out that way, as it got too damn hot! I cannot STAND sleeping when I’m sweating!! So, I woke up at 2, then again a lil after 4. With no chance of going back to sleep, I decided to clean up my cell. It actually has room to stand and turn around in! Can’t ask for more with a 5x9 wood cell.

For this evening’s work, my legs were up for some quality time…

18 January 2011
Evening

SQUATS
135 x 10 x 1 (very slow set, with a three-second pause in the hole. Warmup.)
245 x 10 x 10

I attempted to do leg curls after this, but I was completely devoid of any energy, so I drank my proteenz/createenz drink, and left. I guess I was still recovering from the cleans yesterday… I hate having to tap out. But on a lighter note, I got to watch as a PT-Allstar, complete with lifting belt, was psyching himself up for a 315# bench press. After clapping his hands, he throws himself onto the bench, does a bunch of breathing, then asks for a liftoff. From there, the descent began. And just as quickly, the ascent started. His spotter was quick to tell him to go all the way down. He continued to do three more like that, then racked the weights, jumping up like he set a record. The spotter and I just looked at each other. His was a look like “Did I really just waste my time for this dickhead and his 4-inch bench?” I laughed, then left. The sad thing is: he is not alone in his handicapped thinking. There are many guys who get all hyped up and such for doing partial reps. A disturbing phenomenon…
On that note, time to study.

I guess it takes me two nights to actually sleep in. As soon as my head hit the pillow last night, I didn’t move again until 7 this morning. No complaints. Felt good. So good that I could have done a dance as I made my way to the showers. I restrained myself, though, so no worries.

I remember some time ago, there being a thread dedicated to the zombie apocalypse here in the Nation. Well, word of this apocalypse finally made it out here, as the officers in our headquarters have taken to putting up flyers and posters about it. More like background and preventive measures. I could only chuckle. I’ll have to take a picture of the wall dedicated for this.

Today’s training was pretty light, as I wanted to just move around a bit and get the blood flowing. My training partner seconded this, although I had to point out the fact that he took all day off yesterday, and even got a massage! So, we commenced to doing bloodwork.

19 January 2011
Evening

Sumo Deadlifts
135 x 12 x 4
135 x 1 x 1 (with one hand…sorry. Felt compelled to show off a lil…)

Pullups
BW x 10 x 4

Weighted Dips
BW + 25 x 10 x 3

Heavybag Work x 45 minutes

I also had the pleasure of listening to the Bopsey Twins trying to work on their boxing and kickboxing. I shouldn’t even say “listening to…”, as I tuned them out for the most part. They were tuned out completely when the officer I dub “Yoga Chick” came in and began her routine. Some of the poses she does should be illegal out here. An iron will and firm dedication to monkhood works in my favor, of course…

OK, we gotta teach you that song lol

You’re such a show-off, doing a 135# DL with one arm. And you wonder why girls are asking you for help with their pull-ups.
