The Man In The Cellar

Some mediocre kicks…

I know it’s been said but you are damn cute with glasses.

You also put that quarter squater to shame. Fuck Rico.

I just get a kick out of a lot of these PT Allstars and their partial reps. From squats to bench, there presence in the gym is trifling. And what the hell is LWI???

LWI was coined by Dixie’s Finest and picked up by others including Ink.

“Lockout, Work it!”

Basically when my deads are tough I scream in my head “lock it!!”

I kinda see it as a token of those who choose to push beyond the beyond on a regular basis, in a cute, geeky, cheesy way. And I am all for cheese.

I thought it was “Lesbian While Intoxicated” that’s what urban dictionary told me…

Yeah…I thought it was something risque as well. I am disappoint. I’ll stick to “Get some!!” And TN has been suckin with the uploads…suckin badly. Thank goodness for FB.

third try…

i realized in all my video posting fun, I didn’t post my work last night.

21 February 2011
Evening

Military Press
135 x 100
115 x 200

45 minutes bagwork (mostly kicks, however!)

Really felt good working the bag. So much that I was back at it again this morning for almost an hour. It’s funny, however, that one plumper that I refer to as “Short-Round”, had previously offered to roll with me. I was pretty indifferent towards him as I could readily tell it was mostly ego-driven, and on top of that, dude is sooooo out of shape it’s sad. He’d hit me up twice, actually. Well, he was observant enough today to know not to bother me about it again, as I was mixing up strikes with shots (wrestling). That was fun. But, here is this morning’s work.

22 February 2011
Morning

45-50 minutes of bag work
jumprope
lunges
attempt at one-legged squats (FUCKIN SUCKED!!!)

2 rounds on Concept 2 rower:
4:40 min
2:17/500m/28 spm (Strokes Per Minute…guess I’m a long stroker.)

4:10 min
2:05/500m/33 spm

That shit was brutal!!! But you can’t help but feel all kinds of gangster on it, as you busting your ass, dripping sweat, and exhaling loudly. I enjoyed this alot…

This is a good description of what I just went thru in my fortress this evening. I had it in my head that I was done with the “stupid rep series” after last night…Then my coworker came in and reminded me that I had yet to do deadlifts. Fucker. So much for abs and footwork drills…

22 February 2011
Evening

Deadlifts
315 x 100

Not 300, but fuck me if I didn’t end up laid out on the floor… I will pay dearly for this bout of insanity…but it hurt so good while doing it. With “Virus of Life” and “Mister Superstar” screaming in my ears, I couldn’t stop until I hit that century mark. I will sleep the sleep of the dead tonight. I’m already half-way there now. Love this shit.

Hey Beast, I might have missed it somewhere, but these exercises of 100 reps or more, are you doing 10x10 or just as AMRAP in however many sets it takes to get there, or just repping out straight through to 100 (with the last bunch being singles I’d imagine)?

Just trying to tap into a slice of your insanity.

Enjoy the sandbox. Oh hey, they give you guys “beer days” after 45 days or something like that? I think that’s how they did it when I was there. 2 beers for everyone, woo hoo!

I basically do AMRAP in as few sets as I can possibly do…it really sucks while in the midst of it, but at the end…I can’t help but smile.

The reality is that I just got bored doing the same stuff, following the same principles…I needed to shake shit up, and so I figured “what the hell?” The 100 deads were, by far, the most taxing. Even more so than the squats. Another reason why I am doing this is because of my sleep issues. I have to literally wear myself out in order to get some quality sleep (with a lil help from half a pill). If I go to bed with any energy left in the tank, I’m up a couple of hours later.

And fuck no to beer days. I’ve got 50 days left out this bitch before I have two bottles of Hefeweizen in my hands. McChrystal killed that shit, and Petraeus is holding true to that.

Wonder if this will work…

Guess not.

Took the last couple days off due to conflict, then sleep issues. So, today was my day to get my rhythm going again, and also recover a bit more from last week’s insanity. The morning was just lots of movement and rope-jumping. For this evening…

25 February 2011
Evening

Clean and Jerk
95 x 3 x 4

Hang Clean
135 x 3 x 5

Kept it fairly light, as I had a couple of aches that I wanted to take it easy with. But, at some point, I imagine I got a wild hair up my ass as I moved over to the heavybag and went to work. 30 minutes later, I found myself getting surprisingly acrobatic. Picture Mighty Joe Young or King Kong doing a not-so-bad imitation of Ong-Bak. Yeah… I went like this for a good while until my groin said, “Negro Kong, please…” I stopped. I will pay for this tomorrow.

Well…yesterday was a bust. I attempted to work my chest, but I had ZERO focus or motivation. I was also tired all day yesterday, so I’m sure that played a part, so after a few attempts, I called it quits. Today is not bad, however. I slept in this morning, then just a lil bit ago, stepped outside with my sledge to move around and loosen up a bit. Felt good until all the muddy water what built up inside the tire attacked me. Didn’t stop me from getting a few more swings in, though. I would post the vid, however, I’ve no clue how to do the youtube thing, and posting it directly seems to be hit or miss… Actually, I’ll give it a try. More to follow, though.

Nice vids. Killin it.

I am the same as you; I need to wear myself out. And I always get good sleep after a workout. I don’t get people who say they feel energized. I feel like a burnt match after a heavy session–useless.

Tapping into my deep, deep disdain for certain people out here, and certain things that just push my buttons, I pretty much blanked everyone out for a 90 minutes and partied at the squat rack. No interruptions. No requests to do pullups in between my sets. No lil lieutenants trying to flirt. Nothing but me, Manson, and the bar.

10 February 2011
Evening

Front Squats
155 x 100
Back Squats
155 x 100
Box Jumps
BW x 100

Exhausted, lungs burning, legs shaking, I reached a point in which I got a case of the giggles. Nothing loud or noticeable to anyone else, but definitely a sign that I’m having a good time breaking myself off. I would say sleep will be good tonight, but shit…I only got 5.5 hours last night. I was pissed when my eyelids opened at 4!! [/quote]

I love this. How were the 100 rep sets completed? Was it 1 set of 100, 4 sets of 25. 10 sets of 10?

Multiple sets of varying reps until I hit 100. This is the type of work that I respond best to. Especially when I’m not worried about what my 1RM is. It’s pretty freeing, when you think about it.

Itâ??s always about you and your body. Itâ??s how you see yourself, and as a result, how you see the rest of the world. The body dictates everything. Itâ??s where it all starts. What you can make it do. What you can make it endure. How quick you can be. How precise. How quiet, and strong, and flexible, and still.

It is the one tool you always have at your disposal, no matter where you travel, the one weapon that can never be discovered going thru customs, never spotted by a watchful guard or an attentive police officer. It is at the heart of everything you do, and you must be able to trust it completely.—Passage from Critical Space, by Greg Rucka

I’ve posted this in the past, but every so often, I need to remind myself why I do what I do, both in the gym and out. Bringing everything to the most basic of levels. Reading this always centers me. Helps me to throw out all the bullshit that floats in my head. Kick ego out the door. Not give two shits about anybody out here who has a problem with me or my indifference toward them. Today was a good day to get back to this. Especially after reading a blog that served as a bit of a wakeup call this morning. Gotta love those “a-ha!” moments.

Now…I didn’t post last night’s work as I was enjoying the wonderful world of internet chatting. Always good chatting with awesome people. But, here is what I did last night:

27 February 2011
Evening

Incline Bench Press
225 x 8 x 15(?)
I lost count after set number 10. I know I banged out several sets after that, but can’t recall exactly how many.

Heavybag work x 10 minutes
Had to end early as the supp I had taken wreaked havoc on my intestinal track. I was feeling it bubble during the benching, but throwing kicks only made it worse. So, I threw that particular POS supp in the trash.

Today was better. I slept in, but felt pretty damned good.

28 February 2011
Evening

Deadlift
315 x 10 x 6

Barbell Row
185 x 10 x 5

Chin-Ups

BW x 10 x 5

Core work and stretching x 30 minutes

I should sleep good again tonight. Mission accomplished.

Hope you have a good night, Beast. Get your beauty rest;) Really liked the bit from Critical Space.

BEAST! Way to kick some Ahamkara ass. I need to take more responsibility for my own reactions. Ironically, today I failed, but tomorrows a new day damnit!
