10 February 2011
Evening

Front Squats
155 x 100
Back Squats
155 x 100
Box Jumps
BW x 100

Exhausted, lungs burning, legs shaking, I reached a point in which I got a case of the giggles. Nothing loud or noticeable to anyone else, but definitely a sign that I’m having a good time breaking myself off. I would say sleep will be good tonight, but shit…I only got 5.5 hours last night. I was pissed when my eyelids opened at 4!!
I love this. How were the 100 rep sets completed? Was it 1 set of 100, 4 sets of 25. 10 sets of 10?
Multiple sets of varying reps until I hit 100. This is the type of work that I respond best to. Especially when I’m not worried about what my 1RM is. It’s pretty freeing, when you think about it.
I discovered that myself several months ago when I began high rep squatting. Multiple sets of 20 will make a man out of you more quickly than multiple 1rep max sets. That’s my opinion anyway for what it’s worth. I look forward to checking in on your log.

I have you to thank for that, Bre.

This and I focus more on “real life” training. A 1 rep max does not compute for me. I want to be as strong as possible, as quick, as fast, and as CONDITIONED as possible for whenever life decides to throw curve-balls of the physical/negative variety. That and I’m considering competing again in MMA, and dropping down to 205 isn’t very likely for me.

Now for this morning’s work.

1 March 2011
Morning

Handstand Pushups
BW x 6 x 3

Jumprope
1 min x 3

Kettlebell Swings (Two-Handed)
53lbs x 10 x 5

Kettlebell Swings (One-Handed)
35lbs x 10 x 1 (Felt too light)
53lbs x 10 x 3 (Just right…)

Form-work on heavybag (working on hip mobility/flexibility-thank you CBear)
20 mins

Knuckle Pushups
BW x 20 x 3

Jumprope
5 mins x 2

Stretching
20 mins.

Today was just strange. I was all prepared to train and whatnot, however, as soon as I got there, I was about as flat as Megan Fox’s pancake booty. But…instead of packing it up, I decided to change the game. Instead of tapping into the familiar pool of anger, disgust, and rage, I just shut everything out and allowed my body to do what it does best: respond.

1 March 2011
Evening

MIlitary Press
155 x 105

Lateral Raises
30 x 10 x 3

Handstands
30s x 3

Ab-Wheel
BW x 12 x 3

Hanging Leg Raises
8 x 1 x CRAMP!!

15 minutes of stretching

It’s always a great day when you start it off by stepping into an ice-cold lake outside your door! I woke up really quick with this misshap. But…after a few minutes of warming back up, and drying my feet off, I was off to the races.

2 March 2011
Morning

Jumprope x 1:00 (Warmup)

Weighted Pullups
BW + 25 x 6 x 3

Knuckle Pushups

BW x 15 x 3

Kettlebell Swings (Two-Handed)
The biggest bell of the bunch x 10 x 3
(One-handed)
The BBB x 10 x 1

Handstands
30s holds x 3

I stopped here, as I didn’t want to be exhausted for the workday. Plus…tonight will be fun.

How has it taken me so long to find your log?!

Excellent work Beast! Consistent.

I like the idea of letting your body ‘respond’ - I should take a cue.

Killin’ it in here! Good stuff.

I’m sitting here rubbing my ears, and chanting to myself. What was an otherwise pleasant day just turned into an annoying evening. I’ll just say that there are way too many retards here. They believe in their hearts that they are “combat ready” but in reality, they haven’t a fucking clue. “You’re to stand as guard, in case these people get crazy.”

If that is the case, why are you walking and standing directly in my fucking line of fire? And why are you handing me shit they give you to hold for you? You fucking moron! Do you have a fucking clue? “Oh, I forgot to tell you all week and all day today as I was looking you in the face all day…we roll out first thing in the morning. No bag, no cup of coffee. This is a combat mission. You can bring your machete if you can attach it to your body armor, but nothing else.”

Really? We are going ten minutes up the road to a courthouse. Combat? Really? Sitting as passengers as you snap photos of yourself and everything around you? Really? You brave and noble warrior you… I just threw up in my mouth. sigh Just over a month left…

Oh well…now that the venting is done with, onto the day. Between listening to, helping, and paying the locals today, to putting in work this evening, I’d say it was a good day. Even got some pictures that serve as motivation to keep my head up. Pure awesomeness. I would get up and do a lil jig, however, that would be ill-advised based upon the work I put in.

3 March 2011
Evening

Squats
315 x 33
This was done in multiple sets, most consisting of 6 reps. I’m thrilled by this as I’ve only repped this weight ONCE…EVER!!! I refuse to let my leg hold me back any longer. No choice but to grow bigger and stronger.

Walking Lunges (Thanks to the ladies of PW)
95lbs x 20 meters x 1
135lbs x 20 meters x 2

Felt like a fucking monster doing this, as everyone was either watching or getting the hell out of my way!! (Must…check…ego…)

Jump tucks(?)
BW x 10 x 1
Jump as high as you can, bringing your knees to your chest. One set just about floored me, so I stopped. I hadn’t done these since my high school days. Felt good, save for the legs getting ready to give out.

I would post vids of the squats, however, I already know how the site is when it comes to that. So why bother? You get the aftermath…

<3 this photo! oozes MAN!!

You are a manimal Beast! Wow now I’m damn flattered you stopped by my log.

I feel a little safer today knowing you’re representing us out there. Thanks for that.

Hi Beast,

Hope you don’t mind me dropping by

Your log is awesome - especially the vids.

Hey man! Thanks for stoppin in. I don’t mind at all that you checked the log. The stuff on TILF is all in good fun. Diggin the avi by the way.

Thank you for the kind words. And it’s I who is flattered.

At the moment, I’m getting ready to attempt to go to bed. It’s amazing what the words of a woman can do to a man. Especially a man that has been without for well over a year. Hmmph…I thought I was stronger than this!! I think it’d be best if I worked the heavybag instead…that should help…

But…this evening’s work:

5 March 2011
Evening

Bench Press
315 x 40 (Multiple sets of 5 or 6 reps til I got to 40.)

Pushups
BW x 150

I guess I have more to fill in later…to the heavybag I go. Fuck…

Hey Beast. Nice work on those squats and walking lunges.

Apparently the people around you aren’t all morons… at least they get out of the way when you are doing walking lunges. The idiots at my gym(s) just mosey along right in front of you. Some stupid kids almost cut me off while I was doing farmers walks the other day. No fucking clue! One of these times I may have to drop one of those 70’s on somebody’s foot to make a point.

Yeah, there are some assholes here, as well. When I’m deadlifting, some idiots always want to try and use the rack for pullups, right in front of me. I typically just look at them. Then there are others who expect me to stop what I’m doing, just so they can go talk to whomever they are going to talk to. I can’t stand people sometimes. This is why I sometimes make allowances for my ego. Some people deserve it!

As for last night’s late night session:

5 March 2011
Late Night

Heavybag work x 90 minutes.

I went all Mighty Joe Young again…but had to stop the madness when a young man asked if I could train him on a few things. Couldn’t be mad at him, so I spent another hour going over the basics… I did manage to sleep, though.

Cool! That’s great to know
I wonder how they went about training their dog to do that?

I’m definetly following, you’re a really good writer - It’s certainly something that I’d like to be better at.

figured it was a good time to stop in and say hi…

My hubby just left(again) yesterday to finish his time out there. How much longer do you have?

Hey there, MiM! Thanks for stopping in. I hope the time spent together was good. I’ve got 46 days left out here. There is a very strong light at the end of my tunnel, and I’m running full speed ahead for it. With everyone growing more and more antsy and irritable, heaven help the folks who try to get in my way. Unfortunately, this is pretty much the time when dumb shit takes place. Oh well, I’m not going to step on this particular soapbox. Don’t really have the focus for it.
I should have taken today off, given the late night last night, and the small amount of sleep I got, however, I REALLY needed to put in work this evening. It was apparent early during the training that as amped as I was, metal was the last thing I needed to listen to. So, it was the opposite: classical and new age. Loreena McKennitt, Karl Jenkins, and others during my work were akin to butter on breakfast toast. It just went that perfectly.

6 March 2011
Evening

Hang Cleans

95 x 3 x 3
135 x 3 x 2
165 x 3 x 4
185 x 3 x 1
Have to focus a bit more on getting my elbows up. Noticed in the vid that as the sets progressed, my form regressed. Not cool.

Barbell Rows

225 x 6 x 3
225 x 8 x 3

Dumbbell Rows

100 x 10 x 3

WG Pullups

BW x 5 x 3
BW x 4 x 3
BW x 3 x 4

I was pretty well smoked at this point. Even sitting here now, I could go to sleep. I enjoy this feeling. Means I’ll sleep tonight.

nice squats Beast!
always a pleasure to catch up on your work in here.

46 days in nothin man  keep focusing on what’s important.

Hey Beast! Just wanted to say that I saw your answer in the thread about what you wanted to be when you grow up. That was perfect. Nice to see that someone is beautiful on the inside as well. Maybe I should go give a serious answer instead of being a smart-aleck.

Don’t get too trunky yet. 46 days is going to fly. Where’s your next assignment?

You might find this humorous, I did my first BB rows today with a 45 BB to practice form. How long do you think till I catch your 225?
