Ahem… Chevy and Cadilac in this thread.
Also… I’ve needed to upgrade my cast iron. Our 8” one isn’t big enough for Dutch babies for whole family.

Does anyone else get sick of replacing their wallet every decade? I’m hoping the new made in the USA wallet I got yesterday will outlast me. The leather is also sourced from the USA, making this a true American handmade item.
My first impression was the high quality material and simplicity of the design. The entire wallet is a single piece of leather with six rivets. No stitching at all.
I went with the natural tan and I’m already seeing the patina set in after a day of normal use. It should look great in a year or two, slowly getting darker and more “leathery” with use.
100 year warranty too. I may spring for his duffel bag made from the same material and rivets. No stitches to fail.
This is how the same color leather looks after two years of use. Very nice.
Quick wallet update. The patina is already setting in after a month of use. This is the first natural tanned leather product I’ve owned. I enjoy handling it every day as it changes character due to the old world craftsmanship and quality materials. I plan on buying another when the 100 year warranty on this wallet expires.
Not sure how i missed this thread originally.
Going thru it I was really glad to see @twojarslave Mention Origin Maine. I’m a fan of everything they do.
I have two of their BJJ Gis (The 2017 Axiom and a 2019ish Comp Athleta). These are my favorite gis and they wear like nothing else. Awesome build quality, fabric is amazing. My Axiom looks almost new.
I also have 4 pairs of their jeans. 3 pair of their light weight stretch jeans (Delta 68s) and one pair of their medium weight (Factory). Again, just awesome quality.
I’ve got one of their Nanowool Henley pullovers. perfect light wool shirt.
I need to get a couple of their training pieces and see how it is, but everything I’ve got from them is top knotch and worth the price.
La’
Likewise, I have all Origin for rash guards and gis as well as jeans. I’m headed to their camp in Maine, this August. Looking forward to going to their actual factory one of the days.
I highly recommend stopping by 18 Ashmont Street in Portland while you’re in Maine for BJJ tourism, especially if Jay is teaching class. It’s a good distance from the Origin Camp but if you’re passing through it’s worth a stop. Your chance of good rolls is 100 percent.
I’ll try and make this work. We have a rental car and are taking our time. A group of 7 from my academy are going. Would it be ok to randomly show up or should we contact them first?
At a class? For sure. It would make their day. It’s a new building and I don’t think they’ve packed the mats quite yet. There should be plenty of room to play. All of their coaches run fantastic classes like little copies of Jay.
I don’t know if Jay’s doing privates right now but any private lesson would also be highly recommended. Any topic you want to explore with any of their black or even senior brown belts can be explored in depth. They LOVE doing stand-up work of all kinds. Just call beforehand and see what can be arranged. Open mats are always a hoot too.
What are they like? I have different brands of bjj specific rash guards but I find I prefer regular old Under Armour or similar.
I lied, I gues. I have 2 Jiujitero I got as a gift and 2 JJWL branded ones. I prefer and only wear origin. They’re very similar to the tight UA. I think they work better in keeping you dry. I sweat a lot and eventually UA becomes soaked.
I do like the length of Juijitero. They’re a bit looser, with elastic around the waist that doesn’t ride up, if you like looser fitting. Otherwise, I pick up final chance of Origin ones when they go on sale.
I applied the included conditioner on the wallet I pictured upthread. I followed the instructions and waited at least six months of daily use before conditioning the leather.
It looks and feels even better now. I highly recommend Mr. Lentz leather products. A great gift idea for someone patient enough for the leather to do its thing.
