Characters that must be in this movie:

Going by the IMDB site, it doesn’t look like Bumi or Toph are in this movie. Which leads me to believe they’re doing more than one movie, because there is no way they could just omit characters so integral to the story.
Guys, they are signed to three movies. Azula isn’t in this one either. The climax, judging from the preview, will be the North Pole battle. Azula, Toph, Bumi and many others don’t show up until after that.
I was hoping this would be the case. There is way to much to try and fit into one movie and still have it cover the series well.

Yep.
what’s up with his scare? It’s barely noticeable.
They can do a lot on post production though. I remember that scene from X-Men III when Jean blew the doors off the “X-Medical room”. In the previews, the door just blew off in two halves. In the real movie, the door disintegrated like she was turning it to sand and then they blew off.

They could enhance that scar more in post.
I hadn’t even thought about that. I hope that is the case then.

Slightly updated trailer with more scenes.

Color me skeptical.

Avatar was one of the best shows ever put on TV. Period. Granted I’m a little biased based on my roots.

It will be hard to translate its magic into a live action movie.

I have my doubts about M Night, but then again, his movies are often infused with a certain eastern philosophy sensibility. I would hope that he could use his cultural background to help do this movie justice. (btw, I realize the creative team for the series was all white. They did a fantastic job of bringing asian ideas to pop culture).

It’s called a tetralogy

I’m looking forward to this movie, I like M. Night Shylamalan. I even liked Lady in the Water.
Alien Quadrilogy! 4 quad.

Old thread I know, but I was just reading this interview with Shyamalan and thought I’d share

Ok, so he made a few dumb-sounding name changes and weakened the fire benders. If that’s the worst of it then it’s not so bad. And it’s now official that the humor is significantly toned down…hope it still has the necessary spark.

Did anyone ever watch Jackie Chan Adventures? The Avatar series shared several voice actors with the show and Season 1 reminded me of a similar tone used in that show.

It still has a good vibe to it. Like X said a while back its the first of 3 movies. I do hope they find some space for the comedy.

Either way I will support the movies.

Ok,I’m ready for July 2nd.

FUCKING AWESOME!

I do not want to see that in 3d though.

i think this cartoon/anime is way too deep to be shown in one movie. it should at least be a movie for each book or they should just go straight harry potter on that ass and drop like 8 of them @ 2.5 hrs each. i had my doubts at first but from the way these new trailers look i think its going to be hardcore.

Shit! This is getting better with each trailer.

Same here. They are really pushing the 3D down peoples throats and it’s starting to trigger gag reflex. I think they should leave the 3D to animated movies…like How To Train Your Dragon, etc.

Ah, I’m trying not to get too excited, seeing that new trailer. I don’t want to be disappointed, and the movie looks more and more awesome with each trailer.

They still have months worth of post-production to do so my guess is, they just might pull this shit off.

It all seems to be riding on whether they chose good actors to play those roles.

Katara’s character could come across as really whiny if they don’t do it right.

Oh, but they could potentially ruin all of the characters, either with a poor script, bad acting, or both. I am feeling more and more positive about the film the more I hear about it, though. Hopefully, you’re right, and they do pull it off.

From what I understand it will be a trilogy. So fingers crossed its looking better everytime someone post a trailer so here’s hoping.

I haven’t seen very many movies in 3d…do these movies generally not look as good or is it just a personal thing that you guys don’t like them. Just curious

Sweet Jesus!! It looks like Ang is gonna be super badass! Also it’s the Moon Spirit story arch, sweet! I hope they pull this off, I am definitely going to see it Non-3D I got burned already with Clash of The Titans, your not gonna get me again Hollywood!
