OK, you knew this was coming. Next in the series of ‘icky muscle appreciation’ is one of the greatest bodybuilders to never win the Olympia (wtf?). Levrone is probably the most familiar bb’er to me from when I was younger.
A big dude, a great personality, serious intensity, and a guitarist!
Nothing really to say except Kevin is my all time favorite Bodybuilder.
A guy who did not train with squats and deadlifts for a large part of his Pro career. A dude that would ramp sets and hit the heaviest fucking weight he could hit taking shit to failure on all exercises. A guy that did a lot of barbell pressing. A man that ate like a champ and clearly deserved at least one O.
I’d suggest buying Full Blown and Maryland Muscle Machine. Great DVDs.
This vid kind of stood out— Levrone is shrugging obviously a lot of weight here, and he certainly has (had) the strength to do it.
He’s rolling his shoulders, which you always hear as the big ‘no-no’.
Is he really rolling or is it the camera angle? Is the ‘shoulder rolling’ thing over stated? I’ve never even seen vid of anyone else shrugging the amount of weight he’s got on the bar, so maybe it’s just a function of having that much weight. By the same token, I’ve never seen Levrone ‘only’ shrug 400#-- does he roll his shoulders at lighter weights?
Again, obviously it worked for Kevin Levrone, and I’m certainly not criticizing probably my favorite BB’er, but it did jump out at me.
I love that ‘Best of Kevin Levrone’ clip. I have that and the Yates version on my IPOD and watch 'em both almost everyday one the way to train. One of the coolest compliments (not meant as such though) I ever got was that my delts overshadowed my pecs, like Kev’s did. I knew if was a criticism, but just being thrown in with big Kev,… well, it was kinda cool -lol.

Just in case anyone doesnt know, he stopped training for a long while, and recently got back into it and you can follow him over at LevroneReport.com
Claims to be all natural, and has completed several milestones already (8 week diet, mass phase, 405 bench, 500 squat)[/quote]
Yeah, there was a post on here about that a while back. DId anyone keep watching after the mass transformation? I stopped, then I went back to look at the site to see what he did next and there were sooo many pages.

He’s doing another cutting phase, trying to hit 220lbs I think.

Why? Didn’t he hit a lean-with-abs 250lbs at the end of the initial transformation?
Never followed bodybuilding but knew who the “names” were. Of all the guys out there I always thought Levrone looked the most impressive. The way he’s put together looks like a superhero, and his lifting vids are among the most impressive of all the bodybuilders out there.

No, he cut down to 232 lbs at an estimated 4.5% BF, but yeah it still doesnt make sense to me that he is going to cut down again to a lower weight?
