The Israel War Thread

When I hear martyr I am thinking the first definition in the Merriam-Webster dictionary:

  1. a person who voluntarily suffers death as the penalty of witnessing to and refusing to renounce a religion

I never think of victims of wars. But I can see how some prefer the second definition.

God said “whosoever.” That includes whosoever, that is, everyone.

This requires much definition when it comes to supporting Hamas. Supporting seems to beg to include all financial and military aid to Hamas needs to be stopped. “Stop supporting Hamas” sounds good, but…

No. Forgiveness is the greatest Christian virtue. Islam values revenge.

The first part is also meaningless. Stop bombing Gaza? Given the context this would imply that Israel has been bombing Gaza for years.

Damn, I might have to leave Team Israel and become non-binary.

I do not pretend to be an expert either, but, it appears something else - and I say that because of the bolded text below which does differentiate between foreign aid and funding for Hamas - which indicates something intentional.

It seems that Israel has been funding Hamas intentionally, and/or asking and aiding other countries like the USA and Qatar to do so, intentionally.

According to the report, 44 percent of the money provided between 2012 and 2018 was invested in infrastructure and 40 percent in healthcare and education.

The rest of the money ended up with Hamas and other groups.

From November 2018, Qatar started sending suitcases full of money directly to Gaza following Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s decision to prevent the cash being transferred to Palestinian banks.

Three money transfers have taken place so far, including a $10m transfer for fuel and $15m for the salaries of Hamas government officials.

During the same period it gave just $39 million to other Arab states and almost nothing to the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority, headed by Mahmoud Abbas, the report said.

The cabinet heard that 44 percent of the cash went to building infrastructure, 40% to education and medical projects, and the rest to Hamas and other groups in the Gaza Strip.

Thank you. As I recall you had chosen to be deliberately vague early in the other thread as well, which would seem to indicate a non-problem to you and me.

Not lying is very important to me, as is not deceiving. Saying a lot is way less important.

It seems? It’s been a known fact for a while.

Spoken like a true liar. Honest people don’t need to tell others how honest they are.

Look at the Muslim world to see how they think has been working for them.

There is some truth to that. I am not afraid of being thought extremely low of by the posters here, though it is not my preference either.

Well I meant these guys, but I appreciate the extra information, 100% zero sarcasm.

I recall from somewhere that Christianity is of two basic parts:

  1. “Accepting” Jesus (as)
  2. Being Christlike

What little I know of the first part seems to be at odds with Islam.

If it’s easy to share the Bible passage you are referring to, I would appreciate it.

It might require much definition if I were actually negotiating anything to be agreed upon by others, or implemented - currently it is just the vague opinion of some random guy on the internet

I am glad to hear that it sounds good in theory to you too

Well that’s interesting. Is that the only reason?

Islam values revenge, but moreso values forgiveness. Layers stacked of mercy upon mercy.

I thought the greatest Christian virtue is to love God with all of your heart or something like that (no disrespect intended).

Jesus replied: "**Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind** . ' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.

Are you sure?

You called me either dishonest or a moron before, I asked you why not both. You didn’t respond. That’s fine. I was thinking that maybe, just maybe you’d have to check yourself first before going that far on anyone else.

For what it’s worth, as far back as I can remember having an opinion of you, it was that your knowledge and cleverness far outstripped your wisdom.

Also I hadn’t intended to inform anyone how honest I am - I don’t even know that myself - it is something I am working on. You may be aware of a ranking: Nabiyeen, Sidiqeen, Shuhadah, Saliheen. Since there’s no new prophets to be sent, Truthful is the highest rank a Muslim can aim for, and I am not comfortable claiming any of those rankings.

In other words I recognize that there is a great distance between myself and Truth. My thought patterns and words reflect that recognition as a habit. I seek to close that distance inch by inch. I can understand why it would be annoying to most.

I can try to put some things together for someone that asks a yes or no question that doesn’t fit me, but to go so far as to say either yes or no would be forced - further distancing myself from truth - in my opinion, and I see no need to risk it, not even benefit.

But I liked to give enough for anyone that wanted a yes - they could have had it. For anyone that wanted a no - they could have had it. For anyone that preferred a yes, if they preferred it strongly enough - they could have had it. For anyone that preferred a no, if they preferred it strongly enough - they could have had it. For anyone that wanted the truth I could make some words that might help in some way but I cannot give what I do not have.

Yeah that’s the one. I was thinking to say heart and soul, but doubted myself because it sounded a little redundant. Maybe I will remember next time heart AND soul AND mind, inshaAllah.

Thank you.

Anyone have a good idea on what Greek or Aramaic words maps to heart and soul? I would appreciate a better idea on what it means in practice if anyone is willing/able.

No disrespect intended.

It happens to be the most noticeable verse to Christians. A large number of Christians have memorized it.:
John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

I enjoy studying the numerology in the Bible and look for whenever a number is mentioned in the Bible. The number 12 indicates completeness/perfection. Two quick examples (but there are very many more): The twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve disciples of Jesus.

John 3:16 is a symmetrical verse in its number of words. There are 25 words in the verse. The center word is “Son.” He is the center for salvation and living. And there are exactly 12 words preceding “Son” and exactly 12 words following “Son.”
