The Israel War Thread

It could be the genocide committed by the Israelites and the taking of virgins as sex slaves. Historians doubt the veracity of these stories.

My initial guess is that might be found in the book of Joshua, when Israel was claiming their land promise.

What must be the circumstances that a person would fear sharing the scripture that suggests that?

All of scripture can easily be found online so I have no idea.

Thank you.

It can be tricky. It implies decreasing distance from ideal, without imply arriving at ideal, or even defining ideal.

I don’t know. Without wanting to behave as a smartass, I am not sure if there could be such thing as a Christian country. I am only aware of one country that claims to be one today - Vatican City.

If there were a Christian country, it would be up to them. To my understanding Muslims would be fine to live their, unless the laws prevented them from performing Islamic requirements.

Similar, except I am pretty sure they have clear ideas about what a Jewish country is based on, how it is founded, and how it is run. I just don’t know much about it.

Yes.

I do not consider there to be any Muslim countries today, but if there were one, it should have Jewish citizens. They should be respected and have the full protection of the law. They should be neither allowed nor required to serve in the military of the Muslim country, but since modern times have changed things - I would think hiring some as advisors/contractors from a defense budget would make a lot of sense to me.

Jews in a Muslim country should have their own courts that would judge according to their own laws. That might seem to contradict what I said earlier regarding full protection of the law. I am not an expert on this. I said full protection under the law. I have a memory that Umar ibn Al Khattab did not apply Islamic lewdness laws against Jews in a case, and instead … either consulted Jewish scholars, or left it completely to Jewish courts - I cannot remember

In a case of assault, murder, theft, vandalism, to my limited understanding the Muslim government has a large degree of responsibility. If it’s Muslim on Jewish crime that would be a larger degree than if it is Jewish on Jewish crime. I do believe it has happened historically where Jewish judges have asked Muslim judges there opinions on cases, and vice versa.

I would like your source on that as well, specifically the second part.

the holocaust did not happen.

Genocide is definitely in there. But I definitely missed the part about taking virgins as sex slaves (and I’ve read the Bible cover to cover multiple times). Genocide and taking sex slaves are a bit contradictory since if you kill them they can’t be your sex slaves unless you are into necrophilia. My memory of the Israelite conquest was that the commandments from God on the subject were definitely on the “kill everyone” end of the spectrum. There was some “mingling” but the commandments actually expressly forbid it.

Edit: Numbers 31. Found it. It does seem that Moses is initially pissed that they let anyone live, but then says that it’s okay if they let the virgin women live.

Well, thanks for self identifying as a complete moron.

The thing is, according to historians and archaeologists, these genocides did not happen. Even many biblical scholars believe the references to them should not be taken literally.

Hadith 2542.

Thank you. I was going to ask which book, but Sheikh Google knew immediately.

It does not mention rape. I do not understand sex with slaves to be the same as rape of slaves.

I read through all of these and picked out a few. None of them mention rape either.

Seven masters sharing one slave. One of them messes up, you could call it a major slip or a minor one. Then, all of a sudden seven former masters have no slave.

Clearly they were taught to honor their slaves and to fear dishonoring them. I consider that rape would be a far more intense dishonor than slapping someone’s face. So if someone puts it all together, to say that Muhammad (saw) condoned rape of slaves, seems inaccurate.

That says something about you which is rather perverse, cruel and ignorant.

I’ve heard plenty of people try to defend slavery; saying how it wasn’t that bad in some cases or how those enslaved actually benefited from it. Yet, none of those defenders would have wanted to have been a slave. As far as sex with slaves not being rape, no one asked the victims how they felt.

Define seems.

You’ll be hard pressed to find reference to rape in Islamic text.

What did they call that: “ménage à huit”? I bet that was a sight.

Might this be the origin of “pulling the train”?

No it doesn’t

Maybe you have and maybe you haven’t - that’s not what I was doing here. I was defending Muhammad (saw) and his Companions.

Appears inaccurate. I am not an expert on Hadith and I doubt you are either. I disagree with your description.

So the Hadith you cited says nothing about rape, it says pulling out or not, a child may be produced. I believe an honest reading between the lines of all related Hadith would find a warning to be careful she is mother and wife material. If she becomes pregnant she and his child are to be free - did you know that?

To my understanding it would be forbidden for any of them to switch unless they waited long enough to be sure who is the father

The courteous thing to do when the slave is pulling the train would be:

That would eventually be a bio-hazard area, especially if many wanted “seconds.”

See, this is you trying to be clever. Rape is nonconsensual sex. Slaves cannot consent so it’s rape. Of course your garbage religious text won’t call it rape just as it won’t call Muhammad, in his 50s, having sex with a nine year old a sexual crime against a child.

You can mention historical context if you want but we aren’t talking about regular people living back then but a so called prophet who dictated the will of God.

How magnanimous, freedom via rape. You are a perverse weirdo.

I disagree, why cannot slaves consent - they are fully human.
