The Importance Of Milk

What about the estrogens that can be found in milk, which are in fact a lot more potent than all that soy phythoestrogens that scare people on this website to death?
info?

I am curious how do those of you who do not drink milk get the recommended 1200mg Ca+ a day without milk or milk products(assuming if you are consistant with your bias)? I agree there are advantages and disadvantages to dairy. I personally drink milk because thats how I get my Ca+, but I am interested to see how the anti-milk folks out there get their Ca+.

Some info on estrogens and milk:

You can get calcium from many other sources (vegetables) and in higher quantities than milk. But I do eat cheese and yogurt regularly. I actually prefer them over milk. And I used to eat a pound of cottage cheese per day, but I cut that out of my diet several months ago since I’m working on getting leaner.

I don’t think I’ve suffered any ill effects from not drinking milk and I stopped drinking it more than 2-3 years ago!

I started using half & half this week with Metabolic Drive and only every once in a while (not every day and not more than 4 ounces at a time). It’s just to help break up the routine for a few weeks.

Wow…

Ok, let’s start off with this…

Modern processed milk is shit.

Only raw milk from a grass-fed ‘organic’ or ‘biodynamic’ certified cow or goat are worth consuming.

Is there a chance for ecoli poisoning? No more than when you eat at fuckin’ Taco Bell! In fact, if you do some research on food-born illness in regards to organic milk and you’ll find that it’s even less (far less) than its processed counterpart…hmmm, don’t see that on the Today Show do ya?

For those making statements regarding whether or not we SHOULD be consuming milk for whatever reason, do me a favor and stop eating ALL processed commercial foods right now…God knows that we humans were not designed to eat that shit.

It is also worth noting that we have been consuming milk in many of its forms for about 10,000 years or more.

As for the statement on how long primal man lived…do ya know what America’s average age to death is today?

69.3 and falling (not so impressive is it)

While primal man traditionally died young, he also had a much more difficult life than the desk-dwellers that we have taking up space in this day and age.

Actually, I think primitive man had pretty much the same life expectancy we have today, except they had reduced morbidity, meaning, they were fit as a fiddle until a few days before dying. In our society we have people who live to be 90, but spend the last 15 years of their lives on the brink of death.

When modern men have come into contact with hunter/gatherer societies that live the same way early man did 50,000 years ago, they have always found many old members in the tribes who were well over 60 and had full use of their bodies and minds. Where the hell did this BS about our pre-agricultural ancestors living short lives come from???

But this has nothing to do with milk, so please continue with the discussion.

I haven’t drank milk in 3 months, because its funner to buy a jug and let it sour in the back of the fridge. Anyways-

Why not just take a couple of calcium tablets to get ones daily calcium needs? I do.

Secondly- I thought that calcium from vegetables was poorly absorbed, or am I wrong?

Too much calcium can also be bad as it can overdeposit. I’ve read of a few people on this forum who have had this problem, as did I.

In regards to your other comment, alkaline foods interfere with calcium absorption, but if you’re eating spinach and broccoli with protein you should be fine.

It comes from chilhood mortality rates as well as violent deaths and a few other such things being figured in.

Kind of dumb following a diet based on stone age people or whatever the fuck it is. First of all EVERYTHING is processed. Forget about it, you will never eat the same, the nutrients are completely different. Following such a diet in a modern day world is impossible.
Last time I checked those veggies growing in the backyard WERENT processed… if people switched to a much more natural state diet (eating foods that actually grow and rot if you dont eat em quick enough), then this nation wouldnt be the Disease Mecca of the world. In other words, for the majority CONVENICNCE IS A KILLER!

Yup.

I used to drink a lot of milk, however when this caused an iron deficiency in my body I stopped consuming it. I even had iron pills for 1 month.

For those that don’t know, iron deficiency causes among other things: fatigue, reduced strength and irritability.
