Milk is good.
Paleolithic humans developed high peak bone mass, probably reflecting their habitual levels of physical activity and ample calcium intake. Yet they didn’t have diary. Stone agers experienced less bone loss with age than we do now.
So there was no dairy but ample calcium and good bones which would seem paradoxical if you listen to some nutritional experts today. Milk is high in protein and low in phosphorous so it increases urinary excretion of calcium. It also increases acidity - lowering pH, which is buffered by taking calcium out of the bone.
Stay away or at least minimize your intake of processed milk. The stone agers didn’t have dairy and didn’t eat processed, refined grains.
Like Poliquin said they knawed on bones all day. It might be good for you but I think I would get some weird looks at work will I was sucking out the bone marrow. They didn’t eat tuna back then either and I love that stuff.

What’s the difference between raw milk and processed milk? Does pasteurization do something detrimental to milk? Is there something bad added to processed milk to make it the lesser of the two?

I love Milk couldn’t make it through the day without it. Im a 1/4 lapp or Sami they have been drinking milk for thousands of years so I don’t really see a problem with it. Somr tribe can even ferment it and get drunk off it. Grass fed free range whole cows milk doesn’t get better then that. You should see the cows in Humboldt County they got the good life.[/quote]
? Humbolt county is the only county in California where Raw milk is illegal

Raw milk has More Nutrients
Raw milk is an outstanding source of nutrients including beneficial bacteria such as lactobacillus acidolphilus, vitamins and enzmes, and it is, in my estimation, the finest source of calcium available.
The pasteurization process, which entails heating the milk to a temperature of 145 degrees to 150 degrees F and keeping it there for at least half an hour and then reducing the temperature to not more than 55 degrees F, completely changes the structure of the milk proteins (denaturization) into something far less than healthy.
While the process certainly destroys germs and bad bacteria, it also destroys the milk’s beneficial bacteria along with many of its nutritious components.
Pasteurizing milk destroys enzymes, diminishes vitamin, denatures fragile milk proteins, destroys vitamin B12, and vitamin B6, kills beneficial bacteria and promotes pathogens.
You may notice that raw milk left out will sour naturally but pasteurized milk will rot. This is because the beneficial bacteria in the raw milk helps to keep putrefactive bacteria under control. Pasteurized milk, however, does not have any of the beneficial bacteria left to keep it from rotting.
Then, of course there is the issue of the antibiotics, pesticides and growth hormones and the fact that nearly all commercial dairy cows are raised on grains, not grass, like they were designed to. This will change the composition of the fats in the milk, especially the CLA content.
My two cents:
Human beings are the only living creatures on this planet that drink another animals milk
Cow’s milk was designed for one thing and one thing only - to develop a baby calf - and unless you have 4 legs with hooves - it is not necessary
It has been stated that human beings do not need any more milk consumption after they stop breast feeding
Yet the dairy lobbyists will tell you that you cannot live without it
If you do your research, you can get your calcium and any other nutrient you need through plants , vegetables, nuts, seeds, fruits, fish, meat
Another reason not to drink milk is that it makes your semen taste bad so that your girlfriend doesnt want to swallow.
Case closed! ![]()
Long live pineapples!!!

Unfortunately raw milk is treated with the same kind of severity as frikkin’ narcotics in this corner of the world.

“Guys, I take in between 4800-5200 calories per day, without milk and without processed breads, pastas, etc. It was tough at first, but it’s easy to get accustomed to.”
How do you do it? Processed carb foods are loaded with calories. I cant imagine eating that many calories without them unless you take in lots of fats (oils, nuts, meats). Is that what you do?
As for the milk thing, as a singer I kept reading on different singer websites how drinking milk causes your body to produce mucus (bad for your voice).
So I drastically reduced my milk intake - though not my protein shakes - and really, my stamina, my voice, my health, all are significantly improved.
Milk is not poison but it’s certainly not that great either.
I drink a sizable glass of (skim) milk with just about every meal. It’s just a simple and delicious way to tack an extra hundred calories or so onto whatever you’re eating.
It’s got a pretty decent macronutrient profile, and I don’t really consider lactose to be much of a sugar. Its impact on blood sugar is sometimes overemphasized, I think.
Lots of people have poor reactions to dairy - I wouldn’t even come close to a proper caloric intake without it.
PS: How long did cavemen live for, again? Oh yeah.
Screw milk!!!
Drink half&half! The regular version contains nothing but fat and protein (little to no carbs) and tastes awesome mixed with a protein shake. Of course, a serving size is two tablespoons (40 calories per serving), so you can easily rack up plenty of calories especially if trying to bulk up (without all the extra carbs).
Vince Gironda was a big advocate of eating fat with protein because that’s the best way for protein to be emulsified in the body. Protein without fat is useless according to Vince, and he recommended mixing half&half with protein shakes.
It may seem crazy, but I have to tell you that half&half mixed with Metabolic Drive tastes incredible (I mix 4 ounces with 6-8 ounces of water and Metabolic Drive) and will keep you satisfied for several hours easily.

I’ll have to try that next! Perfect protein and fat meal!

Yup, lots of fats, 15 tbsp of Olive Oil per day along with 20g of fish oil. I also eat a ton of oatmeal- not strictly Paleo, but whatever. Its actually a lot easier to get calories than people make it out to be.

I think I’m going to look into that… It seems like the most calorically dense thing beside Olive Oil you could possibly have.
Any info on the effects of insulin when drinking half and half?
What about the estrogens that can be found in milk, which are in fact a lot more potent than all that soy phythoestrogens that scare people on this website to death?

That has nothing to do with the topic (milk) and everything to do with sanitation (toilets) and refrigerators. That is basic Public Health.
