Congrats on the dips man! That is awesome.
Just catching up. Awesome effort on the handstand push ups, dips and congrats on pulling the trigger to compete.
Gotta admit I have no idea who any of those bands are on your ipod. More of a metal, classic rock and old country fan. I do try to expand but sure seems like most new music, especially the radio stuff is prepackaged crap. To each their own.
Good luck with the show, Kent! You’ve said before that you’re dissatisfied with your strength levels, how much mass building do you intend to do?
Oh, and congrats on using weight on dips!
Just catching up. I always enjoy your thoughts of the day bit.

I don’t speak Canadian. Is that a euphemism for you know what?
Keep us posted on the contest prep.

Good lookin dips. 2 plates is definitely a noteworthy milestone. Do you do low rep dips often?
I’m diggin your playlist as well. Very nice
JUST THE FACTS MA’AM
Monday - DL and back
531 Deadlift - 5x225, 5x245, 7x285
A1 T-bar rows - 10x100, 9x100, 9x100, 8x80

pullups - 18, 11, 10, 9
B1 rollouts - 10, 9, 8
B2 bb curls - 9x80, 8x80, 8x80
Totally decent. I’m still making teeny tiny progress on the pullups. That’s 49 in 4 sets. The goal is 50… ain’t made it yet!
Greg - FINALLY somebody who can appreciate the depth and complexity of fine bubblegum pop music. I never was a fan of hard metal. You are a f##king beast. Your physique is what I am currently shooting for.
Brett - How is it exactly that no matter what I say, you some how turn it into something to do with cunnilingus? ou are a filthy, sick, depraved, sicko. I LIKE IT!
Cav - How much mass do I want to build? Want? I WANT to be 225 lb ripped. However, I think for my show 175 is likely, 180 MAY be possible. I think my lifetime dream would be 200 at 10%, but I’m starting to think that won’t be possible for me.
dday - That photo of you dragging through the mud still makes me smile.
DJS - Can’t get past the triceps man…
Joe - yeah I don’t see heavy dips ever being a staple beacuse of potential issues with elbows. But I will test it out for ego’s sake once in a while.
atypical - Well since the random thoguhts seem to be a hit, I’ll try and come up with a few more.
Thanks for reading, everyone.
Nice work CK, best of luck with the show prep…Ive heard high rep squats is teh ultimate mass builder…ssshhh dont let anyone know!!
Strong work Canada_K. I’m assuming you’re training for a bodybuilding event? I’m interested to see what kind of changes you make to your training and diet. Good luck. I’m sure you’re gonna do very well.

How goes the battle dude?
Glad to see you’re making progress and now that you’ve gained a 2nd set of eyes, I’m sure you’ll be making tweaks left, right and center.
Kent, if you really want to get bigger, then it would be a damn shame if you stayed this size forever. Life’s too short. Now’s the opportunity - shoot for some real strength, eat like there’s no tomorrow, see what you can do.
Besides, I’m catching up with you, strengthwise.
I haven’t posted any workouts since last Tuesday. I’m slipping.
It’s been a mighty hectic week for me… lots on the go… many competing priorities. I’m running a HAZOP at work, which for those of you who don’t know is an excruciatingly detailed safety study. It’s 6 hours a day for 3 weeks. Since I’m running the thing, my brain is engaged for every second of those 6 hours. And somehow the remaining 2 hours are continuously packed with other meetings. So I come to the end of the day spent. Add to that my kids’ extra curricular activities are ramping up and things have really accelerated!
Enough whining.

B1 rollouts - 13, 9, 8
B2 bb curls - 10x80, 8x80, 8x80
A decidedly mixed bag. Pullups blew chunks. I’ll just chalk this up to a bad day because last week I hit a PR for total reps. Deadlifts felt realy solid today. I’m hoping this is a good indicator of things to come.
Last Saturday I went to a seminar put on by the federation where I am planning to compete in May. Along with instruction on the particulars on spray tans, and buying and fitting trunks, we got nearly two hours of posing instruction which was quite cool. What I learned was that holding a pose for two straight minutes is harder than lifting. Considering there are 10 mandatory poses, plus comparisons, a guy has to be prepared to be holding poses for about half an hour.
I got a cramp in my thumb of all places.
Did I mention there were about 45 fitness ladies and 5 dudes? It was a good day.
You know it’s a tough workout when your thumbs are sore.

I remember Arnie talking about how tough posing and flexing in front of the mirror was.
Imagine how hard it’ll be when you’re all dehydrated and depleted as well?

It sucks. Get used to enjoying cramps. Just saying…
Countdown is on to Diet Rebound.
Looking good K
Ahh . . . Ed Corney.
So do you factor in posing practice as part of your workout? Sounds like a workout to me.
Your bench is lookin good bro, I wonder what your 1 rep max would be, not that your going for that but 200x13 is alot of reps.
