Good God… I take a semi brake for awhile to do manly husband stuff around the house and I swear that that the level of stupid has gone up on certain threads!

Confession:
A really small, deep dark place in my mind is oddly curious about this ARX machine and kinda want to try it out…
FLAME FREE!!!
The sad thing is that if old mate wasn’t such a douche in the way he went about things, I would have been genuinely interested as well. I’m not a machine workout kinda guy but I do like to learn more about the industry and the way it is evolving.
I would even go as far as saying that regardless of the idiocy that he was spewing, no one should ever be closed minded enough to completely dismiss the idea that there is only one way to skin a cat, as per say…
It just comes down to proof, results and the effectiveness of whatever it is…
Which there isnt, yet.
Still, curiosity is peaked ![]()
I feel like that ARX thing could be improved if it could be programmed that you will fail after a certain number of reps. That way you could hit a true 8 or 10 rep max or whatever for BBing purposes, and similar for other goals
I’m exercisemachina.
Your diet-advice-to-butt-wiping analogy was one of the best similes the internet has ever witnessed.
Dual accounts are frowned on. Not flaming you… But, why would you need 2 anonymous accounts?
Thanks guys.
But y’all do get my point, right?
Not only that, there are people who will answer, “Have you tried xxxx brand of toilet paper?”
Q: “Not gaining weight despite eating 5000 calories. Is my program good for hypertrophy?”
A: “Do Texas Method.”
I am also exercisemachina
I, too, am exercisemachina
I’m missing a meme here…Whats exercisemachina?
EDIT: I found the I don’t warm up/stretch thread. I get it now.
Bah! Smoke and mirrors. You must be exercisemachina.
Your point was spot-on and picturesquely illustrated.
“My personal experience doesn’t line up with internet experts’ claims. Do you anonymous folks think I should set aside my own observation skills, sensible thinking, and deductive reasoning in lieu of what websites claim and change an unknown variable to rectify the situation?”
“One-size-fits-all answer that ignores all previous factors.”
No, I’M exercisemachinea
Controlling the speed of a movement was done decades ago by iso kinetic machines. The only “new” aspect would be that it somehow resists you slightly less than you’re pushing? I don’t understand that part. I think it would be good for rehab purposes.
Colour me curious about the ARX machine too.
I have actually used electronic resistance machines before. A university gym I used many moons ago had them. They were pretty cool, and did the same as the ARX with the increased resistance on the eccentric. They also did this nifty thing where you would do like a test rep, and then based on how hard you pushed your test they’d tell you the weight you should use for your set.
Annoying thing was you could only do sets of 12! After 12 reps they shut off and you had to program the fucking thing again.
I’m not in touch with this kind of tech.
Is there a limit on the amount of resistance you can use? Seems to me that what you get out of it is simply dependant on the amount of effort you are willing to expend. Doesn’t seem like a bad thing at all.
