The Flame-Free Confession Thread

This made me think about this thread…here goes

I don’t see whats so special about Frank Zane?

Is he the great Ecto hope?

In fact I think he has an ugly/weird midsection  (obviously this is genetics but still)

Feel free to convince me otherwise

yeah but I think that’s just genetic. I’ve never seen a guy with a tiny waist end up having a chunky waist because his obliques got too big.

I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but I’ve certainly never seen it. Guys with big obliques and chunky waists always seem to have wide hips.

I could very well be wrong, as I often am, but I don’t think I am.
You’re not
That’s good news. You know, since I do have narrow hips.

And narrow clavicles…
There’s plenty of dudes that start out narrow and get pretty wide. Obviously, your potential to be broad is less, but you can still get jack3d.

Sorry Jake, I’ll try to get the ball rolling.

I personally disagree with people who say that direct ab work is not necessary; that heavy squats and deadlifts provide sufficient stimulation, and/or that nutrition is all that matters for bringing out the abdominals. While for some this may lead to good ab development, I think they’re missing out on their true potential for abs. I was sorely disappointed with my ab development when I competed in my first men’s physique comp last fall.

Granted, I was severely lacking size overall, but my abs simply weren’t there, as I had largely neglected them until my prep. The last 6 or 7 months since the show, I’ve made great strides overall but I’ve been sure to hit abs hard at least 3 days a week while I am in a caloric surplus. I’m very happy with the results so far! My abs are now visible despite not being overly lean, and I’m optimistic that they’ll “pop” a lot more when I next compete.
Got to agree my abs were insanely shallow. Been hammering them hard for a year even though I hate ab training. They are much better now. Waist might be slightly bigger but the thicker abs are a much better look. And worth it IMO.
How have you been training abs?

I have been terrible with consistently training abs in the past which resulted in back problems and tight hips. Now that I am leaning out, I have been placing a little more emphasis on training abs.
I like to do 4-6 supersets. 3-5 days a week during my morning fasted cardio. One un weighted one weighted exercises

I agree. I think it has to do with the fact that he was smaller than other competitors and so, gave the average gym goer the belief that they could achieve a similar build. I mean how many times have you heard heard “and he was only 185 lbs”

As far as “aesthetics” Bob Paris>>>>>>>Frank Zane

I would expect the discussion to continue along the lines of my original post which was making a statement about a professional physique competitor especially when I made it clear that I was not posting the picture so that a bunch of dudes could comment on whether or not she could get the business. I thought this thread was supposed to be a place where you could post something without having to deal with the usual T-Nation bullshit.

Such a response it expected in GAL or the now defunct SAMA. I would never go into the Antoine V thread talking about how I would ride that fine piece of ass all night. My bad for expecting the same when I post a female pro.
What do you want us to say? She eats right, works hard, got implants? Has a pretty face? She has a nice build for what she competes in and does well, but does not strike me as something insanely impressive. I see girls around various gyms in my area with as much muscle tone and size as her. The same can’t be said for pro male bodybuilders.

Again nothing against her she looks awesome and you can tell she works hard.
Uhh…that’s Juliana Malacarne. She’s undefeated as an IFBB pro since the women’s physique division was created, is the considered by the vast majority of people who follow the sport to be the eventual first WPD Ms. Olympia later this year, and absolutely CRUSHED her competition at the New York Pro show several weeks ago. No one even came close to matching her combination of size, proportions, femininity, and leanness on the PROFESSIONAL stage. Manion came out and said that she was the first competitor to totally nail the look that the women’s physique division was meant to encourage.

Sorry, don’t think you know what you’re talking about or looking at if you “see girls with similar muscularity and tone at your gym all the time.” Yeah buddy, and I’ve got 2 or 3 Arnold’s training at my place on a daily basis.
There are 2 IFBB pros and a national competitor in my area. 2 are pros in bodybuilding. While I consider Juliana’s physique much more appealing aesthetically and in just about every way; it is no way impressive compared to the aforementioned women.

No offense, but there are far more women close or with similar musculature as her than than there are of say Phil Heath, Jay Cutler, Kai, etc.

And since the women’s physique was created oh all of a couple years ago? Give me a break. Many judges still are not sure what they are exactly looking for in that arena. She has just been picked as the poster child it seems(although a good one imo! Like I said she looks fantastic). Come back in 10 years when there are actually more results. That being said I am glad women’s physique is there. It is more broadly appealing and will bring a lot more to the sport in general.

And I never said all the time, but I do see them. Just because they don’t compete and hold titles doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Nice logic there.

Must be nice having Arnolds training at your gym all the time. All I see at mine are people that look like you.
Sens much?

A fullhouse hating on s lean guy’s physique. Cool story.

Seriously though, Juliana is literally the best in the world in the division in which she competes. You’re claiming you have two women in your town who make her “not impressive”. IFBB pros or not, that’s absurd since no one has even come close to beating her for the past 3 years. Sorry for not believing that Johnny Fullhouse in Mississippi knows a couple of women who are totally under the radar as IFBB pros but somehow better than the concensus best in the world.

That’s not being dickish, that’s being realistic. Sorry if that offends you, might need to check the e2.
I was not hating on you. It was merely an observation “lean guy”.

I never said they would beat her in PHYSIQUE. They do however have more muscle mass and are just as lean. Hence they were BODYBUILDERS. You keep making an argument out of nothing. Like I said Juliana has a beautiful body and aesthetically pleasing, but it is not impressive to me. If it is impressive to you, that is great I was merely stating my opinion. And opinions are like assholes everyone has one and they all stink. So enough of that.

I also started training abs hard a few days a week, even devoting an entire day to them pretty frequently. It has helped my overall strength and my back does not get near as tight during deadlifts. For me doing high reps a strong core was absolutely necessary when pushing around heavier weight.

Srs ? Then not a flame…you are more impressed by women that are basically men? Why? I am curious.

seeing how this is the flame free confession thread I can probably get away with posting this, I hope it doesn’t piss Buckeye Girl off too much…

…but when I see a woman like that Julia Malacarne lady my initial reaction is always “GROSS!!!”

then I think about how hard she must’ve worked to get that way, and I respect that, but the initial thought is always about how gross she looks.

I guess as a heterosexual man I struggle not to view a woman posing in a bikini from the perspective of whether or not I think she’s hot (not saying all heterosexual men do that, but I do). It probably shows a lack of maturity or whatever on my part but I just can’t help it. Those female bodybuilders like that just turn my stomach and it taints how I view the sport. I absolutely respect how hard they must work and admire the dedication, but in a sport that is about the aesthetic, I just do not like the aesthetic one bit.

I’m not proud of that, but it’s the way I am unfortunately.

I’m impressed, but I don’t find it that aesthetic. Aesthetically, I prefer somewhere between figure and bikini.

Likewise I’m impressed by the IFBB pro men, but aesthetically prefer physique.

I think it’s like that with all artistic pursuits. I respect the talent and dedication, but I don’t necessarily like it. There are great musicians, great artists, great film directors… you can learn to appreciate their work, even if you never really like it.

In case anyone missed this; I found it tonight. Page 1 is good. Page 3 is better. Gets better from there.

Because I know how hard they had to work and what’s involved. Not saying the physique girls don’t work hard too. Just more impressive with that level of muscle and development on a female because it is also more rare. But by all means I don’t find it attractive as in what I want lying next to me in bed…

Not sure if you’re serious about the “pissing off BG” part but there will be no attacks coming from my direction. I’m not going to pretend like I don’t judge people when they give the typical “Eww. Gross. Man.” response though because I totally do (and there’s my confession). BUT I also don’t expect everyone to share my views of what the ideal female physique is. That would be stupid.

I don’t so much have an issue with people disliking a muscular woman’s physique. It’s more of an issue when judgements are solely based off of what the person finds sexually attractive, or the statements devalue the individual’s accomplishments. I don’t care if you (not you personally rds) would hit it or not, but I do find it irritating that people talk about competitors like they’re just up on stage to be eye candy or look pretty for some spank bank pics. (And yes I realize there are plenty of competitors that do sexy photo shoots, but that’s a slightly different story).

If someone is, I don’t know, mature enough, to acknowledge that a particular physique doesn’t conform to their ideal, and also realize that 1.it’s the individual’s choice to look that way and 2. the competitor is an “athlete” showcasing the results of her (or his) training not some model trying to look sexy, I can respect that opinion. A lot of people, however, present their opinion in a rude or disrespectful manner which is just not cool.

I wanna know why CT can’t find guys for his training vids who know how to breathe properly.

I mean why are they getting winded demonstrating a set of 2 or 3 overhead press or just some biceps curls? I often wonder if they’re just pimping out his methods and told to make it look like they’re working really hard.

lulz

Firstly, I said i would fap over the model jeanmich put up, not yours. I went along with what you wished, that no one would say wether or not they would want to nail the model YOU PUT UP.

Secondly, wtf are people meant to say when pics like that one are linked? I like her collar bones or something? It’s a fucking sexy pic, end of.

But I was confessing to finding it hard to separate my thoughts on what is sexually appealing to what should win a female bodybuilding show.

I do the same for the guys. I’d be Kai’s grapefruit any day.

Lol you’re being ridiculously too politically correct. I don’t think you should have to apologize for being male. You know goddamn well every man on earth is thinking in a sexual context when they see a woman with that little clothing. It doesn’t indicate that you lack maturity it indicates that you are male lol. No flame bro  I just hate to see people embarrassed for no reason.
