I confess I never thought I’d see the day that coffee wasn’t just “coffee”… in so far that I have found I dislike Folger’s immensely and that higher end coffee actually does taste better…am I an adult now?
My wife bought some unflavored pea protein powder thinking it actually wouldn’t have a taste when she drank it. Wrong!
I put it in my oatmeal yesterday for some added protein. Turns out that a half scoop with one cup of oatmeal is OK. A full scoop means you’re chewing protein powder.
I actually enjoy Animal’s “Big on a Budget” YouTube videos.
Agree and find the same with Scotch and Bourbon (which is probably obvious, lol).
Once you drink actual decent coffee (not even super-high-end, merely “decent” coffee) it’s very difficult to swallow that bitter swill again, lol.
Likewise.
Tangent stemming off that: maybe this is just me, but when I think of America’s big brand-names for “beer” and “whiskey” I generally think of Bud/Coors for beer and Jack Daniel’s for whiskey. However, personally, I find Bud/Coors basically undrinkable and vastly prefer almost local/craft beer that I’ve ever tried over them, but I think JD is a fine bourbon (I like Woodford Reserve a little better, but if I’m at the wedding bar and JD is the well whiskey, I’m plenty happy with that).
Anyone else?
I confess that I do too, but the folks at Jack Daniels might take issue with you calling their Tennessee Whiskey a bourbon.
It is also my go-to shot if I’m out for drinks.
Hah! Caught me, I wasn’t careful in my terminology.
I always thought Coors was Canadian…
Agree on the beer. My go-to is Shiner bock or Heavy Seas (local Baltimore brewery).
Not a big fan of JD myself.
I’m a Bud Light drinker myself. I’m not a big fan of the full-bodied or hoppy tasting beer. Beer is just a means of hydration for me, lol.
JD is pretty solid, I’ve personally found that Gentleman Jack is significantly nicer to sip on.
Keep in mind, I much prefer my Canadian Whisky over any of this. Wisers, Gibsons, Canadian Club, Forty Creek, heck even Golden Wedding.
On the lower end, Crown is my go to. Gentlemen Jack is pretty tasty.
I love mid strength beer for a session. No shit you don’t get wasted, you just get ‘mid’. All the perks without the fucked up motor function and severe hangovers.
That and an icebath is the best hangover cure known to man
Keep whispering those sweet nothings to meh
Seriously though, the only craft I really enjoy anymore is called “No Your Father’s Root Beer” and that stuff is fucking amazing. Living in a college town where brewery’s are hugeee, I stopped trying them after a company called Terapin released a peanut butter and jelly IPA. Terrible shit. I don’t drink a lot, but when I do it’s either NYFRB, or Bud Light/Miller Lite.
I had a bourbon coffee blend from a local place down here…it had a bit of bite to it, and when it was brewing it smelled like a straight distillery, ha.
My favourite low end bourbon is Ezra Brooks. It’s 90 proof, comes in 1.75L bottles and somewhere between Jack and Jim Beam in flavor.
Low-end bourbon, ahh, depends on what you call low end I guess, but I am constantly going back to Makers. Big fan of Elijah Craig too.
I find Jack daniels disgusting… well, not disgusting. It’s a ‘get drunk’ whiskey, not a sip’n whiskey.
I much prefer world whisk(e)ys. Some favorites are Amrut, Hakushu and Conemarra (Irish).
I was in TN in November last year and asked the bartender for a list of TN whiskey. He offered me JD like it was the first time I’d heard of it… I was pissed and settled for a Coors.
I’m really into the whisky-scotch blends right now. My go-to at the moment is Monkey Shoulder. Good stuff…
This has been one of my favorite finds over the last couple years (I think it was like $50)

It just so happens that I’m a ‘get drunk’ kind of drinker!
All this whiskey/whisky/bourbon/scotch talk is making me thirsty…
