The Deadlift Race Thread

I have been dealing with a nagging back injury that finally healed up in late July, only to follow it up with a broken finger that completely killed any chance I had of hitting 545 in September…I’ve been training through it but obviously can’t grip shit right now…I’ll be taking another crack at this probably in November timeframe…

5 weeks out from the Night of The Living Dead. On track for an 830-845 pull at around 240lbs. Suck it gravity.

Storm: You gonna put Andy in his place?

My most recent PR, 517*2:
Week 4. - YouTube

Going for 545 in a month.

Thanks man. I don’t like mixed grip, so I just don’t use it.

Yes. I have worked too hard to not win.

Got it.

congrats man, good job.

480x5 for my last deadlift day. 4 weeks out from my first meet (raw 181, USAPL).

BUMP

I’m like second to last place now lol

I’m back to deadlifting after the finger injury. It took a little longer than I had hoped to heal up, and still isn’t back to normal really. I can at least grip now though for the most part (high reps excluded).

First day back deadlifting in over 4 months, I pulled a PR of 500. That was pretty cool. I guess there is something to the whole assistance exercises will drive up your deadlift idea!

At any rate, I’m back in the game and hope to pull 545+ at my meet in March or April.

Finger injuries suck. What happened? I shattered my ring finger last year, but it healed stronger than ever eventually - does this weird thing now where it locks and seemingly doesn’t budge under any weight. Wish my left hand did that too.

Finally pulled 500 on St. Paddy’s day!

Cheers guys

Well after a series of setbacks, injuries, and failed attempts since I first posted here last May, I went into the gym tonight with one goal: pull 545

Having a singularness of purpose helps:

On to 585…hopefully this one will come a lot quicker than the quest to 545!

Sweet!

VT, you should prolly get your breaths before grabbing the bar. It helps a lot with tension.

Thanks mate I’ll keep that in mind…i also let the bar get too far out in front when I was pulling it…needa keep it closer to the body…

Yeah, that’s why the pull didn’t look smooth. Gotta pull back as well as up.
