The Danish Viking: back to 531: Road to 2-3-4 Plates

Hi Devinorium welcome to my log.
Thanks for the kind words. I like lifting and trying to get as fit/strong as I can.
It’s actually quite fun to have a log, and to follow others as well.
As far as my music… it’s well the same playlift and I don’t really listen to it. I like AC/DC for my topsets
Are you Danish or have relations to Denmark?
And best of luck with your log, I’ll make sure to look after it.

Old habits die hard lol?

Squat shoe takes a bit of getting used to. Depends on how high the heel is but they shift your centre of gravity forward and forefoot forward a bit. Takes a while to get used to I guess

woke at 79,3 kg - 174,8 lbs
managed 2450 calories yesterday.
I

Yeah they do.
The heel looks kind of low to me. But I compare with pictures of Adipower and Romaleos. It lookt like they have a higher heel.

I was a bit non focused yesterday, just not in the groove. And a bit narrow stance.

Should be listed specifically somewhere. I think Romaleos have a 0.75 inch effective heel height

thanks man I’ll just have to measure the ones I used.
As stated they are called Risto and from equador. Handmade and every thing. wooden heel.

Don’t think you can measure it at all accurately because effective height isn’t just the height of the heel but the height of the heel and the outsole/midsole/insole minus the heights at the front of the shoe if you know what I mean.

Heel heights are in dis link

I get it. I’ll try to find a store that have one of them. But weight lifting in Denmark is so limited, so it’s hard to find them… I think.
But I live near Copenhagen, and there have to be a store there, that have a pair I can try.

Contact Ivan Risto direct on fb. He’s a good dude. I got some wraps from him ages back and they got lost in the mail, he sent me replacements as soon as I told him. If you’re not on fb I can contact him if you like.

Oh I’m on FB and it’s not about the shoe, more about how they were compared to the big profit companies shoes.
I think I’ll stick to Risto, it’s kind of cool to have a pair of shoes that’s unique
IF I can lift better in them. As you pointed my flat shoe squats looked better.

Got you. I doubt they’re any better than the Nike Romaleos (II or III) or the Adidas equivalent.

I have no clue whatsoever  I can get the Risto’s at a bargain of 120 euros, the same as the cheapest Adidas and it’s 160 euros for the Romaleos. But I will try to find a store, just for comparison.
I know I can’t really just trying them on for 5 minutes.

Todays training.

Running

1200 m warm up

3 x 400 m 1,41 min, 1,36 min, 1,45 min.

Pace where a bit fast on the second, would have done them in the 1,40 - 1,45 min.

Cooldown 600 m.

3000 m of running.

Some stretching, rolling upper back, and yogostuff to finish it all up.
Felt great, I have to be more frequent at running.
Well can’t do everything.

Hej Mort, thanks, I meant those words!

I don’t have direct relations to Denmark, only indirect. A friend of mine lives in Sweden and I spent a few weeks there some years ago, I met some people from Denmark at that occasion. I also learned a bit of Swedish, which is similar enough to Danish (I had to google ‘good luck’ though).

Also, my father used to work in Scandinavia a lot in the past, he’s an engineer and spent a lot of time in Denmark and Norway, so he told me a lot about the culture. I admire Nordic culture and your politeness/respect towards others.

I’ll be sure to let you know once I start my log

Good lifts!!

Thanks to @cdmac24 @Frank_C and @duketheslaya this log is now official a:

I’m a bit confused my dude. Aren’t you already wearing the shoes in your vids? So why we talking like you gonna buy a pair?

@khangles It’s a pair I have the opportunity to try oup before deciding to buy. They are new, but are 3 - 4 years old.
I can try them one or two times more before deciding. That’s why I whant to try another pair first.
But as stated in my country lifting is very small.

Woke at 79,6 kg - 175,5 lbs
2600 cals yesterday.
Sore legs after running yesterday.

Todays traning
28 week of training 5/3/1 from Beyond

Cycle 6 week 3 day 3 bench

Warm-ups, jump rope, yoga stuff, shoulder stuff

SGHP these are for warmup and activation of upper body
8 x 40, 45, 50 kg 110 lbs

Bench work sets

75 x 5 strong fast strong
82,5 x 3 good and fast
90 x 1 Strong fast rep, flew of chest.
90 x 2, 198,4 lbs, first time at 90 kg (have done 92, 93 and 95) So I will not call it a pr. There were no more, as if the tank was empty, one and two were good. Three just stayed at the chest.

AMRAP TM
95 x 1 – 209,5 lbs Well it came up, kind of good, tried a second rep, no way, just stayed at the chest. If anything it was better than last weeks 95 kg x 1.

Pushups
5 x 16 reps
SS
Chin ups
7, 10, 8, 7, 7

One arm standing DB press
16 kg x 10, 10 reps
SS
BB curl
Bar x 20, 20, 20

Paused Squat in squat shoes
3 x 5 x 60 kg (one plate)
Well under parallel. These felt really good. So after my disaster on bench, this was good.

Paced myself again.
I think I’m worn down now, 6 weeks between deloads might just be to long.
Looking forward to a bit of a change of my lifts, for the next couple of cycles not hitting PR sets.
