thanks man, yeah you should strive for a BW OHP, that would be something to brag about. I think it’s a cool lift. I hope to get 1 plate overhead this year.

Oh yeah Hog, the next two cycles I really hope the PR’s comes raining, and who knows, might see some 1RM’s at the end.

Thanks lava, and welcome to the log. Any advice, suggestion, cheer or trash talk is welcome.

Woke at 80,8 kg - 178,1 lbs
Yesterday 2700 calories
Weight is all over the place. It was probably dehydration the last couple of days.
So this is about where I want to be.

Today’s training

Rise of the Viking 5/3/1 PR
C3W1D2

Warmup: jump rope, agile 8, some goblet DB jumps and stretches, lazy lifter.

Frontsquat – backsquat

Squat
5 x 65 kg
5 x 75 kg
5 x 85 kg - 187 lbs
15 x 85 kg belt on PR

Overload Squat walkout
3x1 @ 115 kg – 254 lbs10 seconds No belt

Squat Back off no belt

5 x 75 kg Sweet Jesus!! my hammies were toast supposed to do about 10 – 15
5 x 65 kg

SS pull ups between all squat sets 10 x 5 reps.

SGDL
6 x 2 @ 80 kg Easy Will see how DL goes saturday, if all well I’ll be upping the weights.

Goodmornings first time in ages
3 x 10 @ 30 kg.
SS
Hanging leg raise
3 x 10

Workout took 1 hour on the dot. I was sitting just staring for 5 minutes after, trying to get myself together.
My hammies are absolutely toast, upper back really worked through.
The PR on squat I’m quite happy with that one, only a couple of kg’s from a 1RM, with a much higher squat.

Thanks @Koestrizer and @littlelee Yeah I love to do PR sets again.
But those squats buried me, more than I thought they would.

@painter27 Thanks man.
Not always, often though and today they totally did.

@losthog Yeah and here is the official video

Not for me though. Volbeats song for the danish champion Mikkel Kessler.

@Frank_C Hoping that the high reps will slow down when the weights crawl up. But you never know.

@I_Luc Thanks man

Yeah Squat PR’s on high reps are great, but it seems as if one can grind them out forever. One squat two deep breaths, brace, squat repeat. So I’m not sure if the Erm is valid as a gauge to the real 1RM.

It isn’t. A triple gives a good indication. A five a ballpark figure. Above that, pretty useless.

Yesterday 2600 calories, miscounted somewhere, so it was a little less than planned.
No wonder I felt hungry.

@MarkKO yes that was exactly what I thought. But it’s fun to have something to try to beat

Another great point. That’s what I love about the original 5/3/1 and dislike about 5s Pro and all the other stuff. The PR sets. You go in gunning to beat your last numbers with that weight. Great feeling.

Also a bit dreadful if you’re going into the 15ish rep range on squats or deads.

20 rep pause deads are murder
