The Danish Viking: back to 531: Road to 2-3-4 Plates

My take is that it is simulating lifting maximal weights without the risk or fatigue burden. So when you eventually peak and test you won’t find that the bar feels different.

Todays training: Deadlift PR – Squat 5 x 8

Viking 531 BBB

C4W2D3

Warm up: BW squat, Hip airplane, BPA.

.

Deadlift

  • 5 x 110, 122,5 kg

  • 3 x 135 kg

  • 8 x 135 kg + 6 x 110 kg dropset

Squat

  • 5 x 9 @ 75 kg

Supersetted in between DL and squat

  • incline DB bench press 6 x 12 @ 25 kg

  • Chin ups 10, 10, 9, 8, 7, 7
    .

45 minutes + 5 minutes warm up.

.

Topset DL was fine but close to max, it showed in the dropset, 6 was the limit. Could have grinded a few more. But Squat was standing there staring at me with its ugly face.

Squat 9 reps across breathing hard not pleasant. It’s not the strength that is there, but I’m absolutely trashed after DL and BBB squat.

Here I am about an hour later, still lightheaded when I stand up and a bit dizzy as well. This better result in some big quads or a bit PR later this year.

I’ll help train you up to defeat @simo74’s deadlift.

I’ve no doubt with the right training and effort he could do that.

But can he defeat @Frank_C’s deadlift?

I am more worried whether I can.

I figure I can have my deadlift up in that range in about 6 months. Of course, how much stronger will J be by then…

I’m just sitting here hoping to get that illusive 4 plate DL and you’re talking about 500+ pounds DL.

@guineapig bring me some Hamster juice. And go to @simo74 and make him lose all that BW his build then, I say then I just maybe will be able to out DL him.

Might need to seriously start investing in this. My commercial gym is opening in 1.5 weeks with distance precautions and optional mask wearing, body temp screening, etc. I’m debating the worth of getting a barbell, extra loading and fancy equipment for extra exposure risk.

With your unique blend of Overhead power and conditioning strongman would be good fun

All my pressing have dropped a lot during the last two years… Even then I didn’t have much Overhead power, but thanks

Keep on chugging, @mortdk. You, @simo74, @flappinit, @TrainForPain, @MarkKO, and @Frank_C, just to name a few, are kicking it with y’all’s consistency.

Nice meat.

Is that what she said? I’m pretty sure that’s what she said

Ribeye is probably my favorite cut of steak. I’ll share my T-Bones but I hesitate when it comes to my ribeyes.

Ribeye is the bestest if one doesn’t count rib eye cap or picanha as cuts.
