Haha, there are a couple of goof balls at my gym that looks like this when they try to do should press with 225lbs. Funny thing is, is that I think these guys actually make fun of me behidn my back for using a weight that I can handle. ![]()
for the fist time yesterday i saw the infamous squat rack curler.
he wasnt actually “in” the squat rack, but he grabbed the e-z bar all the way from the other side of the gym and walked over to directly infront of it…and yes he also had his lifting belt on.
I got 19" arms and I don’t compare at all. I’m genetically more of a tricep guy but that doesn’t stop me from building my bis up the best I can.

I have posters of Arnold and his arms are just tremendous, especially his biceps. I read in todays “question of strength” that Arnold would’ve had to have weighed 308 pounds to own a pair of 22s but where do these formulas come from. Genetically arnolds arms were designed to be huge and until your arms as as big as his, you have no right to question his size.[/quote]
been training for ten years i don’t care what anyone says this formula can be used as some sort of guideline but it’s definitely no rule. maybe they were an inch off? but common not 3 inches.

those are definatley not 19-20 inch arms, there 22-23 inches im sure. People probably think I’m crazy for standing up for Arnold like this, but putting a legend down like that is pure wrong.
Look at the pic second to last where arnold is bulking, I wouldnt be surprised if the measured 23inches.

Arnold had huge impressive arms, but if his were 22-23s what are these?
If Arthur Jones said he measured them at 19.whatever then I don’t see a reason to doubt him. A 19 inch precontest arm is HUGE.
This guy could be the Abominable in the new hulk movie. Or the hulk itself.
Girls dont give a shit about big legs at all…at ALL. Unless you are in the crowd at a bb show, you’re not going to find a hell of a lot of women appreciative of developed vastus medialis and chiseled diamond shaped calves- perfectly oiled and shaved, mind you. They just aren’t into it unless you find that niche crowd. Girls love biceps- period. You will get a lot more heads turning with big shoulders and arms than you ever will with big quads- by a factor of ten thousand.
girls like a nice ass just as much as guys do. if you have one, they notice. in fact thats how some girl at my workplace noticed i was gaining weight.
are you gaining weight?
yeah…why?
oh i noticed your butt got bigger.

haha, way to bust out Phil Heath. I’ll put it this way, I’ll tell you how bigs Phils arms are if you find me a picture of Arnie in the same pose.
I have a feeling some sort of joke is going to come out of this if I do happen to find a hands on hips most muscular of Arnold(fat chance). I like Arnold too, but the fact of the matter is his biceps were incredible but his triceps were not. I’ll put up a picture of a peer of his if you prefer, but that’s not really the point.
You and I can’t go back to 1974 or whenever you consider his peak and measure his biceps, the only proof we have is a guy who DID measure them, and pictures with no reference point for comparison.
One thing I want to clarify, do you think they were 22 inches cold in contest shape, or are we talking at any point pumped off season they were 22? One I could believe, the other not so much.

As you probably noticed, Arnold is my favorite bodybuilder alongside of Kevin Levrone, who claims 24 inch biceps, but that’s another discussion, and the fact that Arnold himself said he had 22 inch biceps has more standing in my book than Author Jones opinion. His tricep were a weak point, but he did bring them up, and his biceps made up the slack. As you said though, we will never see him in his prime and cannot make comparisons between hiim and other present day bodybuilders.
The only sportsmen that lie more about measurements than bodybuilders are fishermen. I believe Jay Cutler said he had a 34 inch waist haha. But yeah sorry for the side tracking, back to your regularly scheduled curl programming.
19 inches is huge to look at when it’s dry and cut… i have a friend who probably sport 22’s but he’s one helluva fatso… i’d rather have definition than size
Ok, I needed to switch thing up a bit. W/ that being said I have started to curl w/ more emphasis on my form, contraction and negative portion of the movement. I kinda used a sheiko inspired training methods for my curl lol. This is my first session from 2 days ago
Barbell Curls
75 1x5
85 2x4
100 2x3
105 5x3
Concentration Curls
5x10
Today,
Barbell Curls
90 4x6
Dumbbell Curls
5x5
BTW, The strict ass reps are beating the shit outta my Bi’s
Im Gunning For an inch over the next 4-8 weeks. Hopefully not too wishful thinking. ![]()
My back routine is killer too, Im sure tht’ll help as well.
NOTE: All weights are below so far are less then or equal to 80% of my max. The most this routine calls for is 85%.
Killer W/O Today. After my first session my arms seem already bigger. I’m sure they’re not, but they’re deffinately harder to the touch. I wish I had learned how to properly train arms awhile ago.
Barbell Curls
70 1x5
85 1x5
100 1x4
105 2x3
115 2x2
105 2x3
100 1x4
85 1x6
70 1x8
No need for any additional bicep work today, 12 sets of barbell curls seems plenty.

If these aren’t 22" then what the fuck are they?
I think he stuffed pineapples inside his arms.
