The Curl Thread

you guys are all kicking my ass in the curls. bastards.

im also pissed my gym doesnt have a e-z curl bar…wtf?

edit: they do have an e-z bar and i seriously need to learn to do skullcrushers properly because i was able to curl the same amount of weight with the same amount of reps for my curls as my skullcrushers. …that or just do close grip benching.

Did an arm workout yesterday. Had a cold so i didn’t workout so long, and today its got a lot worse. Anyway i managed 12 sets of very low incline curls with 17.5kgs or 40lb dumbells. Supersetted them with tate presses.

Second superset was spider curls with the same weight and reps for about ten sets supersettted with pressdowns.

Third superset was short because someone offered me a lift home. So i did 3 sets of strict barbell curls with 60kgs or 135lbs for 5 reps supersetted with close grip bench presses.

Most people can curl more with an EZ bar then they can skull crusher, only a few individuals with crazy strong tris can do more on skull crushers than bicep curls.

Barbell Curls
1x135x2
1x130x2
1x125x2
Preacher Curls
1x85x6
1x85x6
1x85x6
Hammer Curls
1x60x6
1x60x6
1x60x5

Max Barbell Curl 143

Really? I can skull crush close to double what I can curl and I don’t think I have crazy strong tris. Maybe my biceps are just crazy weak.

Yeah I’m in the stronger triceps than biceps camp. Tris for guys right?

This BBer at my gym was doing reverse curls with 185 for 15 today. And he’s natural, I am pretty certain of that. I brought up the topic nonchalantly and asked him if he felt confident about his source with all the crackdown, he reacted pretty disgustedly as if I were falsely accusing him of being a user. Props to him, he’s a strong dude.

I love how the curl thread has lasted longer than the squat thread…at least we know were the priorites of T-Nationers are.

More people do curls than squats.

I decided to stick with 100lb for reverse curls. Up from 90. I’m focusing on getting this lift up and going easy on the others.

I always wonder what my genetic potential is for certain muscles so I do my best to find out:-)

You base your assessment of his possible AAS use on his reaction? Most people on gear would probably react the same way to your comment. Even with a shit load of gear thats, still extremely impressive.

I have an idea! We can’t neglect our triceps.

no we can’t. now i need to know how much people skull crush

I did 21’s today. There is some hype going on about staggered reps something similar to 21’s. Well after a full back w/o and some rounds with the preacher bench, I could only use 50 lbs and I barely made it for two sets. I’m going to keep doing them in this order to see if it will make a difference.

Since focusing on reverse and hammer curls, I’ve noticed some improvements on my brachialis and my forearms.

21’s after a w/o are killer bro. If your using a substantial amount of wiehgt, it is so f*@$in tough to complete them. I always find my form slipping on my last sets especially on the full range portion of the movement. I would have to say though, barbell curls built my arms to what they are now, 21’s are just a convenience.

FACT

You have to be fucking kidding me. Nothing gets girls hotter than guys with skinny little legs who flex their arms in the mirror every chance they get, right? Keep up the good work![/quote]

haha!!

much like johnny bravo!

Question about 21s, if they are effective way to train the biceps, why aren’t people doing them for other body parts? Honestly.

Just because someone doesn’t do squats doesn’t mean they have skinny legs. Some decent arms and delts and a tank top will go farther since they’re more noticeable than legs. Even with your legs people notice calves more than any other part…unless your wearing tights. JMO

I work my legs too, but I gone into a running mode a few times in my life, where I still lifted but not as much. I usually wound up a lean 165 at 5’9, I was getting looks from girls everywhere when I sported a tank top. I’m sure many of the members here know what I’m talking about.

I’m going to go off on a little rant here, but wtf is up w/ people saying schwarzenegger didnt sport a pair of 22’s. Some even claim his arm was 19 and somewhat inches (Arthur Jones, and Poliquin). But i’ll tell yuo what, to this day I haven’t seen a more massive pair of arms then the ones sported by arnold. I personally know a few guys with 19 inch pipes and there arms don’t compare.

I have posters of Arnold and his arms are just tremendous, especially his biceps. I read in todays “question of strength” that Arnold would’ve had to have weighed 308 pounds to own a pair of 22s but where do these formulas come from. Genetically arnolds arms were designed to be huge and until your arms as as big as his, you have no right to question his size.

maybe cos you’re one big fan of arnold… that’s why. and btw, posters are usually bigger than the actual thing. just like some labels would say it, “photo may vary…”
