Can’t let this thread die.
I got 90 lb 13 reps reverse culrs then I went for a 100 for 8, 110 for 15 reps preacher curls. Both were done on different days. Pumped arms are 19 1/4 to 191/2.

19 1/2 inch arms damn… how old are you bro
I tried the one arm barbell preacher curls yesterday. Badass exercise man. Everytime the bar tips to one side a bit, and you have to stabilize it, the burn is crazy.

I’m 33. My measurement varies a bit depending if I’m carbed up or not. Cold they’re 18 3/4 to 19 but if I pump them up good with some cable supersets hitting bis and tris, they’ll measure 19 1/2" I’d like to get them to 20" someday. Right now I train arms more than anything else. I’ve gone threw Poliquin’s “Winning the Arms Race” program a few times.
Now I’m trying higher rep workouts and recovery sets, light weights, where you just pump up the muscle. Craig Titus said he put on another inch on his arms doing this. I think it works. I’ve heard if you stretch out the facie on the muscle (via a pump or with someguys synthol) you give it more room to go. Also the added blood delivers nutrients.
Focusing on hammer and reverse curls has helped. I’ve gotten much stronger with them. Big improvement on my forearms too.
i hear you man, the pump also just feels good. As of now my focus is strenght, im obsessed with it. Each w/o im stronger in some way shape or form and with that ive seen size increases in all my muscles. When i was using lots of volume on my arms they burnt out. As soon as i started focusing on my strength i got a 3/4 inch gorwth in about 2 months. I brought my max curls up from 125 to 140.
Do any of you guys compete in curl competitions? 100% RAW and NASA hold strict curl competitions, they are pretty fun and seem to be gaining in popularity, I may do one in 3 weeks or so.

for reps, or 1RM

You talkin about cheat… excuse me… “power” curls? Cause otherwise curling works your biceps and that’s about it.
Look, just try it okay. Then you’ll know.
If you think they’re ‘easy’ then you aren’t pushing yourself. The closest I’ve been to a nose bleed was with EZ curls. (a curl, with an ez bar, should be strict but some cheating towards the end to eke out another 2 or 3 reps is fine).

What is it ABOUT the EZ curls that makes them so much harder? Why would they be harder than striaght bar curls or dumbbell curls?
The effort level could be the same on all types of standing curls.

LOL!
Second Bicep session…More of a hypertrophy w/o compared to my previous strength w/o although my reps are still a lil low.
BB Curls
1x125x4 last rep couple second pause
2x125x3 " "
3x125x2
Preacher Curls
1x90x7
1x90x5
1x90x5
Standing Concentration Curls
1x40x8
1x40x6
1x40x6
Hammer Curls
1x40x12
Good workout, nice pump.

I’ve seen a few. They did reps. I’ve never competed in a curl comp. I don’t think I’d do to well. For the amount of time I’ve been lifting I’m not very strong at them. Genetics. At least my triceps are big.

Those are some impressive numbers.

thx bro,i’m trying to get up there.
Sarcasm aside, I like barbell curls, preacher curls and hammer curls.
i love the spider curl, using the straight down side is much more effective, and double the range of the traditional preacher curl. good results and feels great.
i find preachers tend to even cut the short range of motion even further at the expense of heavier weights.

It is for a 1RM, not reps as another said (maybe it used to be that way but it isn’t any more). NASA does a standing strict curl with an EZ bar where you just have to keep your upper body upright, 100% RAW has switched this past year from that form to up against the wall (significantly harder). It is just like any other powerlift, you get three tries, best one counts, you can’t lower your weight once you select it, the usual weight classes. I think NASA starts with the curl, 100% RAW does it after the deads.
Any curl of 130+ is decent up against the wall, 150+ for standing, of course it varies for weight classes but that is a real general range.
Incline dumbbell curls are my favorite. I love the stretch.
My training partner and I both did 110x30 (50 kg) today on EZ bar curls, we were both happy with that. All reps weren’t perfectly strict but it fried the bis.

You got me beat. 110 for 30 reps is a row… thats burly. I can feel my competitive side kicking in.

Yeah, that is why I like doing the curl comps, it is fun and not quite as serious as regular PL.
