Are there any of us on this forum who would want to be judged based on how they looked in the past? I mean the whole idea is to keep improving.
Maybe, maybe not…but if the whole thread is based on if you can gain the same amount of muscle in a leaver vs. a fatter state…it is relevant.
Well exactly. X has gotten fat in the past, and now (imo) he isn’t. You certainly don’t have to agree with his approach as appropriate or optimal or whatever, but it is the approach he used and saying things like “well your physique now doesn’t count cuz you used to be fat” doesn’t really make much sense to me.

I’ve never said that…the only thing that irritated me was the pounding on people who gained in a leaner state…as if they were stupid.

He wasn’t hating on his progress, he was just pointing out that the 25% comment was made about past photos, not this one.

Well you can’t argue with results I always say. If I see someone who is jacked tell me that they’ve never lost their 6-pack and I see someone who is jacked tell me they used to be the world truffle shuffle champion, at the end of the day, they both won, and they’re both jacked.

You can argue X’s approach wasn’t optimal and I guess he can argue the opposite isn’t optimal, but I was seeing people use the argument that X was fat as a reason for his approach not working despite the fact that he is no longer fat, and maybe he has an inflated sense of how much muscle he is carrying, but regardless it’s still a lot of muscle.

Yeah you’re right. For real though it seems like 90% of people have no fucking idea how to gauge someone’s bodyfat percentage. I sure as hell don’t. X probably doesn’t. In fact I have no idea who does know how to accurately judge bodyfat % or if it’s even a possible feat or if it’s even important at all other than a pat on the back reassuring you that the progress you’re seeing in the mirror is real and that you’re not just going batshit insane from a lack of carbs.

But why be shat on if my opinion is that I don’t want to have to look at my fiancee and say “Ha! Wait 'till you see me in 6 years! I’ll be ripped!”. I never shat on X’s opinion, just didn’t agree with it.

Dude, I don’t care what route people use to get built…I really truly don’t. But when I see somebody being an ass to people like Stu, Zraw, Heavythrower, Austin, Sky, CC and others…for no reason whatsoever…I finally had to say something.

That’s all.

And to protect myself from an X attack: No, you never said that, I can’t quote it.

My guess is, most of the people here are in way better shape than this?
Looks good to me – about 8 weeks from lean, 12-16 from very, very impressive.

A higher BF% is much more “acceptable” looking when its built on top of a lot of quality muscle.

Very good work X.

And that argument come out recently because of a discussion about the body being able to build muscle more optimally when it’s leaner. It wasn’t even a discussion that involved him until he read it and took offense that someone even SUGGESTED that there might be a better way to do it than he did.

Enter bruised ego.

btw I fucking LOVE hearing epic tales of eating. I’ve seen some of your exploits in other threads before. Honestly as nuts as your training was, for me, I can train hard, but I can’t imagine eating like that.

its a gift.

8 weeks from “lean”? What do you consider “lean”?

It’s probably more like 4-5 weeks from being lean since Professor X has stated that right now he is heavier and leaner than in that picture.

You’re going to split hairs over 3 weeks?

I consider “lean” at around sub-10% or so, depending on the guy. His obliques indicate he isn’t there yet.

If that is his off-season “fat” condition I’m impressed, and envious.

good point, haha, no offense but hell, some people will argue anything on a chat board.

he is leaner in that pic than i am now, though for some reason i am more vascular in my limbs than he is(i am guessing about legs because of what i see from waist up) and i consider myself fairly lean for a bigger guy now(5-6 230lbs)

but it is relative, compared to what i was 3 years ago, most on this site are pretty lean. lol

why i am more vascular than many people i know who are obviously carrying less fat than me has always been a mystery to me, i even have veins showing in my fucking lats, but i still have love handles and man boobs.
