Which sports disciplines really increase a man’s physical strength?
Such as wanting to pick up an object and lift it, push it, and destroy it with all your strength?
Also learning the technique on how to multiply the use of strenght, such as putting your arm that way to release more energy like 10x, or anything else…
I thought of the usual rugby, wrestling, boxing, but they are sports that physically shatter your brain.
I would argue that there are sports that demonstrate strength or give the athletes the platform to express strength, but the strength required to perform the sport is developed in training.
Sports require a learned skill, not just raw physical attributes. This is why a trained wrestler can ragdoll someone who can outlift him in the gym. Athletes will divide their training up between technique, strength and conditioning. Doing just the sport isn’t enough. It kind of explains why athletes work on all of the elements separately.
In short, if you want to be as strong as a wrestler, you need to train like a wrestler, not just wrestle. And wrestling won’t shatter your brain. But it will answer the question of how tough you really are.
It seems that the greater the technique required, the sooner in life you need to get involved. Now I say all that, because I would suppose that you would like to compete in the sport.
I like that choice as strength is extremely important and the technique can be perfected in a fairly short time.
Powerlifting technique is fairly easy to attain very good technique. It is a fairly good choice to compete in Master’s divisions.
The lifting sports are obvious choices, but, as some pointed out, it’s mostly the training required to perform in these sports that work. And as lifting sports, I feel that it’s not what you are asking.
My answer would be wrestling.
In fact, a lot of the original old-time strongmen first got strong with wrestling.
There is plenty of info on Youtube. Competitions ranged from straight endurance to Olympic events in the first two or three Olympics. Olympic competitions revolved routines. Competitors were judged on performance. Like a gymnast would be.
