The Best Alcoholic Drinks for Your Physique

The answer is none.

But if you are going to drink socially or otherwise, it’s probably worth considering which beer gives you the best bang for your (caloric) buck. Also, how does wine compare to beer? And how do liquor and mixed drinks fit in?

I created a site that aggregated as much of this information that could reasonably be verified and came up with a few metrics that suggest the best types of drinks and best beers. Spoiler alert: it isn’t microbrews. Check it out and please give me some feedback on what would make the site more useful.

I like it. Considering Wisconsin has more bars per capita than just about anywhere else, I’m sure my buddies and myself will put this info to good use.

real cool site, good job
bookmarked

Hmm I need to read the way the efficiency ratio is calculated better to understand it.

Also seems to me if you’re going to get real serious about this shouldn’t you account for Carb count and the source of the Carbs like a whole grain beer vs a rice beer?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but alcohol has a calorie count of 7KCal/gram.
Also, regardless of type of grain being fermented, isn’t it going to result in a type of simple carbohydrate in the drink? Yeast eats sugar to create alcohol, so I’m just guessing that the differences in source of carbs won’t result in much of a difference in the type of carb in the drink. I’m talking about beer specifically.

I could be wrong, but if I am, please do tell.

Also, I heard (yeah, one of those) that carbonation results in faster alcohol absorbtion. Any truth to this?
I could go ahead and google it, but what fun is that?

If you’ve got a few minutes, take a look at the methodology section. I had a chem PhD work through the math with me. Ethanol (the alcohol that we drink) is 6.93kcal/g

Enders has a point. The “empty” calories of beer are residual sugar and a bit of protein. That residual sugar is not necessarily all the same. Yeast can ferment different types of sugars. But even if distilled from a whole grain, it won’t be a slow absorbing carb since the grain isn’t actually whole (there’s no solids left) and there isn’t any fiber.

And yeah, carbonation leads to faster alcohol absorption. Something to do with the carbon dioxide increasing stomach pressure and forcing alcohol into the blood. 1% faster or 20% faster, I have no idea…

I was really just guessing and making assumptions. The point was I wish your site said that sort of thing, so I wouldn’t have to make guesses and try to figure it out on my own.

i thought the best drink for ones physique was Bacardi 151 right out of the bottle.

Interesting that for Beers, taste gets thrown out the window at anything higher than 67%!

i say fuck the pussy american light beers, have yourself a stella and go and fuck up your spouse.

^interesting chakademus

Anyways, nice site. Easily navigated, informative and direct.

I would say, however, no one likes to be called vain (regardless if they are or not). If you’re looking for advertisers or sponsers I would suggest changing that. Other than that it’s a great site. Good work!

The Best Alcoholic Drinks for Your Physique…half a bottle of this finger a girl behind a skip, good times!

I think you need to add more mixed drinks to your list. Or just the mixers. I got schooled on tonic cause I thought it was like water. I was wrong.

club soda is like water, tonic is full of calories.

if im having a beer with dinner on friday, its to enjoy the taste of the beer and as a reward to myself for getting the week done with or whatever. if im trying to get drunk, its going to be vodka and club soda. other occasions call for red wine…

no drinking is good for your physique, but in moderation you should be alright no matter what you choose.

There is no moderation. I drink to get lit. Always straight with lots of ice cubes. So I try to have those nights few and far in between.

moderate your moderation.

I like my Jack with a little club soda for the carbonation and volume. 2 or 3 of them and I’m good for the night. Unfortunately for everyone else I usually drink 9 or 10.

Well you fucking rock! Love this site adn will pass it on. I’ll have to work my way through some of these.

Thanks much for the input. Keep the ideas coming. Some thoughts:

Enders - I’m thinking the breakdown of the residual sugars would make for an interesting blog post. I don’t want to get too detailed in the main body of the site.

Polo - I’ll look into another way of saying “vain.” As for advertisers, we’ll see. There’s no plan in place

dirtbag - In the future the mixed drinks list is going to be expanded. And there will be some sort of mix-your-own application. Before that happens, I need to learn how to program databases for the web.

When I make site updates, like the ones above, I’m not going to spam these boards. Join the Facebook page for the alerts:

King Cobra FTW!

Thanks for that website, now I wont feel like such a loser when buying 4 King Cobras on Saturday morning.
