Training is going well! Haven’t started the new program yet, just been doing a lot of high rep work of various kinds - squatting and working on depth, RDLs, Pullups, pushups (i’m even making up my own kinds now!), DB Presses, etc. Also doing a lot of circuits and complexes. Needless to say my body hates me, but I’m loving it.

Thanks to Owlie and the lot of you who train biceps, I decided to give it a try on Weds. Did all sorts of curls with the BB and DBs. ugh! I still have DOMs today!! And i find it so weird to have DOMs in just ONE SINGLE muscle. I swear to you, its like I can even feel the little muscle tears…

Anyways, first cycle of new program starts next week and looks like this:

max effort upper:
Weighted Chins - 25, 10, BW (a la Owlie)
alternating weekly with Pullups 5x5
Blackburns (some DeFranco core work)
Bulgarian Split Squat w/ front foot elevated < so excited to try this!
Seated Row
Shrugs < DO NOT WANT TO DO THESE!! And looking to find something to replace them - I don’t want to end up looking like Henry Rollins
Ab Circuit

Dynamic Lower body:
Box jumps 3x3 < i’ll have to find a way to make these challenging
alternating weekly with DL variation (as per sexy RRjc’s suggestion)
Box squats < Also cant wait to try these!
DB Inc Press
Face Pulls
DB lat raises
Ab circuit superset w/ hypers

And that’s about it folks! First day of soccer practice is Weds, first game is next Sunday. I’m really looking forward to showing my shit on the field - its insane how fast I am these days! And with my giant ass tagging along…incredible.

My bf and I were actually talking about that last night as we were going through the workout. Shrugs 2x a week? Do we really need to do them 2x a week? Are they that beneficial to athletic performance? Maybe they are and we are just noobs that don’t know any better lol. I’d rather do more rows or something.

I don’t even do shrugs, I think the HSPUs built my traps up a bit.

Anywho, I hear you on the biceps thing. My bf did biceps with me today (cuz I’ll do about 3 sets of curls after chins and call that work haha) and I never felt them more right now. I usually don’t get DOMS the same day, especially for my arms.

I don’t work my traps at all. Frankly, that is one muscle group I don’t want to see get bigger and I don’t really need for my athletic endeavors.

You do not need to do shrugs. Fill it w/some rear lat raises. It will help w/the upper girdle as well as your chins/pulls. & we all know how you wanna kick the shit out of those.
