The Beautiful Gain

For your information, that was a carefully designed metabolic circut designed for shoulders, core strength, hip mobility, and dynamic stops.

I’d stop at the end of the hallway and literally step over the dog. He’d slide a little, hit the wall, and turn around with this look on his face that screamed, “HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!”

thank goodness for the traction vibrams provide.

I now do similar metabolic circuts a few times a month with my niece and nephew, ages 7 and 9, respectively. They weigh about the same as the pitbulls. Found out tonight i can do tricep presses with my niece hanging behind me. Don’t know, or care, how much she weighs. it makes me smile. I can OH squat each of them. (that freaks em out a little, though.)

using kids as part of training is awesome!!

Dammit why you gotta make me go search for the pics after I posted not one but TWO ass-shots to encourage you?

First of all thanks everyone for the compliments on the pics! Believe it or not that took a lot of encouragement from the other ladies posting to get me to do it and then it took me a good 1hr to take the pics…vanity eye roll

So I see, benching is really just about benching. Its not meant for chest development, just for the sake of moving weight. Ok. Cool. I’ve never formally benched, so maybe I’d like that.

Goals, good question.

I’m still planning on playing soccer til I’m well into 40s, so one thing is to constantly improve my game and maintain health so that I can accomplish this.

As for the lifting, I definitely DO NOT want to loose any of the strength that I have thus acquired. I might even be inclined to say that I could use a little bit more muscle. I figure with 5x5 I can keep getting stronger, as well as have some achievable goals (i’m a goal oriented individual). These would be:
10 consecutive pullups
BW bench
1.5 BW squat
2 BW DL

So basically, my goals are to keep playing footie and keep getting stronger. Do you think this is a good plan of attack?[/quote]

all you lifting goals are awesome. And will go along way in improving your speed and will help you stay healthy especally as you get older.

Since you are so new i would go with a 5 3 1 program but i would use 5X5 instead of 5 3 1 for the first three months. i would also sub push ups, dumbell presses or palm in shoulder presses for military press and do like 8-12

when you do switch to 5 3 1 i would leave out the rep set or money set unless you are on your off season or have a couple week break for it will beat you up.

really focus on getting you ass hamstrings and upper back strong.

the only thing you need to focus on that is soccer specific is you warm up, foam rolling and stretches to help fix imbalances caused by soccer.

I have some warm ups that i can send you.

strength = speed

i hope this helps

Jim

glad you liked the cbear bugs video … It was even better in person … poor bugs lol daddy how can she stop so fast? (sad face)

These are great goals, and I share them all (except for the footie…I suck at ball sports…well…;-)).

But none of these goals have anything to do with the cutting that you were contemplating. In fact, the strength goal seems to be at odds with cutting.

I’ve had my share of insecurities too. And weird comments. “Don’t start to look like a man.” “Haha, you have abs. You know, men don’t like that. Men like a little belly roll. It’s a sex thing.” It’s probably best to laugh that stuff off.

Hi…

Opened this thread as I seek knowledge about gains, either in performance or body comp (what I need most) so sorry about the transgression…

Our culture is so messed up. Except for a very few with medical difficulties, or abuse of PEDS, it is impossible for a women to “look like a man”… It is sad that this is even an idea…

My sweet love is rather well muscled, very cut, but each of those cuts is a very feminine curve…

Wait a minute…where are the pics, Masch?

EDIT: Found them. 23%…raaaiight.

Just found your pictures. Yep, I’m little late. You’re delicious mmhmm yum

I’m in love!

LOL! Arachne I’m going to put up some pics here soon - not gratuitous ass pics, but ones where I show my muscles. I have to figure out how to actually do that first.

Anyways, thanks again y’alls!

Todays gym day was awesome. I’m not lifting heavy, per se, but the volume really produces a great workout. I lurv it. I even fueled for it this am, two packets of oatmeal, two scrambled eggs.

Pullup - 3,2,2,2,2,1,5(assisted) < sup sup mutha fucka. that’s a lot for me! I wanted to keep going and do 10sets, but a guy at the gym who was working out next to me and saw me fail for 2 on the 6th set decided to assist me on the next set. Meh. I just want to do it on my own. After that, I felt all awkward and scrammed. But I think I did well.

DB Bench press - 8x35, 7x35, 9x30 < this was a challenge

Seated row - 4x80, 8x70, 6x70

These are alternating
DB squat (heels raised) - 15x30, 2x15x35 < these felt good, but i have to remember to sit back
DB shoulder press - 3x8x25
Step up - 3x15x25 plate < fine, gotta remember to fire the glutes
UGLP - 15x70, 15x80, 10x80+5x70 < killed me on the last set

Anyways, I love me the pump.

Then I took a quick break, stretched a bit, had my protein shake and went to the kettlebell demo - I’m in love!

See next post for more on that.

Kettlebells are awesome! The demo was hella cool and Vic, who was running it, put us through a little workout and also taught us form and safety. Yay!

We did:
Squat
shrug < I protested, but was told to do them anyways
Squat and shrug
Upright row
High Pull < now i know what these are. LOL!
Swing
Clean
Front squat (and with press)
Windmill

ugh. there’s more but I wont bore you. We got a list of the moves at the end of the demo. When we were done I was like, “what about this Turkish Get-up?” and Vic says, “well, if you guys want to stick around…” Freaking awesome.

I see your pullups are improving.

Im jealous of that class!!

Oh! Please send me the list! If you don’t mind. We don’t have anything like that around here, sadly. I’d love to do something like that.
