Last nights workout was great! But talk about volume - yeesh.
In this stage I’m basically supposed to be doing 4 sets of 15-20 reps. I thought I would opt for the 20 reps, but once I got started I scratched that idea and went with 15.
Squat 15x95, 15x105, 12x115, 10x125 < 125 was stupidly difficult and frankly almost failed on the last 2 reps. I’ll have to check that ego (again).
These sets are alternated
Lunge w/ rear foot elevated - 4x15x50
Pushups - 4x15 feet elevated < my arms hate me
RDL - 20x50, 15x70, 2x15x60 < took me a few sets to figure out which weight to use, grip was failing on the last two sets
DB row - 4x15x30 < I liked this! I can’t wait to try 35s.
Random musings:
Doing my lunges and some guy came up to talk to me. I had headphones in and all, and all I see is this guy’s mouth moving. I mean, I have a 50lb bar on my back, foot elevated, mid lunge. I stopped to take out my headphone, and all I said was, “what?!” and then blew him off
I felt a little bad and at the end of training went to apologize. Lol!
Anyways, this workout got me to thinking about why on earth I’m doing these higher volume workouts! I tried to research, but the articles didn’t give any info. Does anyone know what’s the logic behind putting higher volume workout in the last stage of a lifting program?
Also, I read the t-muscle article with Dr. Clay who basically scoffs at the bench press and calls it ineffective. Anybody have any thoughts on this?
Anyways, woke up hungry this AM, and that’s after having dinner at 10:30p last night. Thank god I didn’t do RFL, I would be jelly.
