Don’t worry about the trolls. They only talk trash because they can hide behind the web. It’s obvious that they would not fight for their country or family. They can only talk the way they do because someone died for their freedom and rights.
I’m a vet and give a fuck less that cowards try to judge me. Anything I have done I live with each day and night.
So talk your trash because that’s all you’re good for. Just talk.
I COMPLETELY CONCUR SIR! COULDN’T HAVE BEEN SAID ANY BETTER!
Orion, whether trolling or not, you could show some of that respect you elude to in your ‘about me’ quote and STFU.
As a former Marine Sergeant I didn’t always agree with my orders, I simply followed them the same way my troops followed me. That’s what we do. Just ask Teddy R. While I agree with several of your points (keep the Christianity out of this, as Chiristians have demonstrated a blood-lust for hundreds of years: Spanish Inquisition anyone, The Crusades, etc.) and I never appreciated feeling like the EGA on my chest was really a ‘world police badge’, NONE of that matters because discipline is key within the military and that means following your orders. Nothing more, nothing less.
So YES those who have fallen, served or still actively serve deserve our (Americans) respect. BTW, I’ve been to too many other countries for you to argue about our ‘freedoms’ with me. If you have no respect for those who serve in your own country, fine, I’m sure they care. Leave our opinions to us and feel free to keep yours to yourself. An old saying comes to mind: If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything.
First in what countries have you been? If I compare Austria to Somalia and Cambodia we are doing fine too.
Since you asked: Somalia, Singapore, British Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Okinawa, Guam- I know its an American province, but still, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Kuwait, and Australia. To name a few.
Then, the “we just follow orders” approach does not really fly. I am aware that soldiers do that and that that is how it should be, a politically active military would be worse in most cases.
Whether you think it flies or not is irrelevant, if you were actually aware as you claim. For the record, I’m not a soldier. I’m a former Marine. If you’re unaware of the difference, I suggest you do some research on the Battle of Belleau Wood. That one, in particular, might hit a little close to your home.
But, you chose to join an army that has not “defended Americas freedom” for over 60 years now and if you join an organization that is used to spread an aggressive imperialist/mercantlist agenda you are responsible for that decision.
See above.
Of course you are completely free to do that, but to expect respect?
Why?
And for your last statement…I don’t “expect” respect. I EARNED it. Like my forefathers, and my brothers and sisters before me. By sacrificing a portion of my life for something greater than myself. By serving others. And more importantly, by standing up for something I believe in.
What have you done?
The Waffen SS did sacrifice for “something greater than themselves”.
Some of them significantly more than you.
Do they deserve respect?
It seems to me that something greater than yourself fulfills two functions:
A) You avoid responsibility for your own actions and
B) You do not have to make to much decisions because “something bigger than yourself” is making them for you.
In real life men who are by no means bigger than you control you using slogans like serving bigger than yourself, matter what “that” is.
BTW the whole premise of my posts is that the US military is not that “big” to with.
For someone trying to preach (as if you’re an educated individual) you might trying to learn how to spell, form your sentences with something like a proper syntax, etc.
The decision I made, was to become a US Marine.
Let’s see what you have to say about this…

And we now have to watch a Nobel peace prize winning American elected leader who apologizes to Europe and the Middle East that our country is “arrogant”!
Arrogant? Apologize-My ***! Never! Remind those of our sacrifice and don’t confuse arrogance with leadership.
If I added correctly the count is 104,366 deaths.
HOW MANY FRENCH, DUTCH, ITALIANS, BELGIANS AND BRITS ARE BURIED ON OUR SOIL, DEFENDING US AGAINST OUR ENEMIES??
WE DON’T ASK FOR PRAISE … BUT WE HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO APOLOGIZE!!
I apologize for not being computer saavy enough to post the pics that accompany these references. For anyone interested, including the omnipotent Orion, PM me and I’ll forward the copy I have to the email account provided.
NOW, how about (days later) we get this thread back to where its supposed to be?
As for Orion…a bulldog doesn’t really care when a chihuahua growls at him does he?

Circular reasoning much?
So the US army is big because a lot of people died in its service and therefore it is worth dying for it.
You do not even make an argument, you just post nonsense, you rugged bulldog you.
But, after all, thinking independently was probably not part of your training.
You only know how to bark.
