Another Letter From a Soldier

Think this pretty much speaks for itself. RLTW

(This is from a National Guardsman from Denison, Iowa - back on leave)
As I head off to Baghdad for the final weeks of my stay in Iraq, I wanted to say thanks to all of you who did not believe the media. They have done a very poor job of covering everything that has happened.

I am sorry that I have not been able to visit all of you during my two week leave back home. And just so you can rest at night knowing something is happening in Iraq that is noteworthy, I thought I would pass this on to you.

This is the list of things that has happened in Iraq recently: (Please share it with your friends and compare it to the version that your paper is producing)!!

Over 4.5 million people have clean drinking water for the first time ever in Iraq.

Over 400,000 kids have up to date immunizations.
Over 1500 schools have been renovated and ridded of the weapons that were stored there so education can occur.
The port of Uhm Qasar was renovated so grain can be off loaded from ships faster.
School attendance is up 80% from levels before the war.

The country had it’s first 2 billion barrel export of oil in August.
The country now receives 2 times the electrical power it did before the war
100% of the hospitals are open and fully staffed compared to 35% before the war.

Elections are taking place in every major city and city councils are in place.
Sewer and water lines are installed in every major city.

Over 60,000 police are patrolling the streets.
Over 100,000 Iraqi civil defense police are securing the country.

Over 80,000 Iraqi soldiers are patrolling the streets side by side with US soldiers.
Over 400,000 people have telephones for the first time ever

Students are taught field sanitation and hand washing techniques to
prevent the spread of germs.
An interim constitution has been signed.
Girls are allowed to attend school for the first time ever in Iraq.

Text books that don’t mention Saddam are in the schools for the first time in 30 years.

Don’t believe for one-second that these people do not want us there.

I have met many many people from Iraq that want us there and in a bad way. They say they will never see the freedoms we talk about but they hope their children will.

We are doing a good job in Iraq and I challenge anyone, anywhere to dispute me on these facts.

If you are like me and very disgusted with how this period of rebuilding has been portrayed, email this to a friend and let them know there are good things happening.

Sure puts the lie to the “America as imperialist.”

Or, “It’s all for the oil.”

How would you like to be one of those people still arguing that this war wasn’t needed or justified?

Excellent post.

Yeah, you can’t deny the statistics; but I’m sure someone will still dispute them. I think it’s safe to say that the good far outweigh the bad. Oh, by the way JeffR, notice how many people didn’t reply to this post…I guess they hate seeing something good actually coming out of this war. RLTW

I wonder where this anonymous National Guardsman gets all his statistics from.

I dont know where he got his numbers from, but its easily believable. I’m not in Iraq (OIF); Im working as part of OEF. I personally have arranged for and provided health care for just over 4000 people. I havent killed a single person, never committed one war crime, havent abused anyone. But I still get lumped in with those that have…and no one ever hears of the people that I and others have helped. But its ok…cause there is no job I would rather have.

Sean

im not a big fan of statistics. i dont know if this letter, your post, is true, but i dont really care because i think we’re doing well overseas.

one of the coolest posts ive seen, thanks.

I noticed, Ranger.

Even the most rabid Bush hater can see what they are opposing…education, health care, sanitation, religious tolerance, etc…

It just so happens that this is one of the goals of this war that the liberals conveniently ignore.

Their continued intransigence has led to them being stripped of power on the national level. They are in danger of losing the ability to effectively protest or obstruct the Republican agenda.

I don’t think I am being dramatic when I say that Iraq may end up being the straw that breaks the Democrats as a national power.

Honestly, I don’t hear much acknowledgment from the left of the good being done by this Administration. By continuing to deny the obvious, they will be marginalized further.

JeffR

rangertab75,
would you be so kind to share the source you get these statistics from with us?

I do not know how the sitiation is in the US, but here in europe I’ve never heard even a single information like that.

thank you!

ecke2 -

I’m sorry, but I can’t remember the source that I got this letter from. I can however, tell you that this information is not just from one single source. But this information is overshadowed by the ambushes and suicide bombings that the anti-war people love to hear about because it gives them an excuse to protest further. Thanks for responding fellas, and God bless. RLTW

Rangertab - You are the shit.

Well I’m not sure if this is the situation everywhere in Iraq…regardless I looked up the letter on snopes.com just in case and it came up legit, read it for yourself:

Folks

This site below prints a lot of soldiers letters and good news about the Military. Also has a good bit of stats from time to time.

He’s a Marine Sgt. so the BS level is set to low.

I missed this when it first posted. Thanks Rangertab. Our countrys servicemen don’t get enough credit for the good that they do. They deserve better.

Thanks Rangertab. I just forwarded your post to most of the people on my email list.

No problem fellas, just keep up the support. God bless. RLTW

I disagree. Though some individual soldiers may be making efforts out of there own good hearts to better the situation for the Iraqis, I think it is safe to say that the men responsible for this war did not have the interest of the Iraqi people above there own interest when this thing was planned. If you believe that George W. Bush loses sleep over every dead American and starving, dying Iraqi, then leave some milk and cookies out for Santa Claus because you’re 8 years old.

I bet you own alot of Toby Keith albums. You seem to draw all the inspiration for your posts from country music songs that came out after 9/11.

I hope that type of music makes somebody else besides me sick.

How would that make you? You wanna start bitching and moaning about the war? have enough class to start your own goddamned thread. Don’t come on one dedicated to the soldier and run your little pussy-assed mouth thinking you’ve just done something.

I bet you listen to a lot of Joan Baez albums, don’t you - pussy?

BitterB

The man’s wearing the uniform for christsakes. I am sure he doesn’t need me defending him but you should be ashamed of yourself.

I like Toby Keith too.

Why don’t you put an Indigo Girls album on and top off the Estrogen level.
