I would just like to say THANK YOU to all the people who post on this forum. keep on keepin’ on. (If that makes sense to you) If you did not read my post from a couple of weeks ago, then you didn’t hear about my unfortunate dealing with the law enforcement(It’s too bad because my deadlift was really good that week so I was really on a roll, but god damn, I had to fuck it up!(BASTARD PYRAMID HEFEWEISEN))Anyway I would like to thank everyone at TESTOSTERONE, BIOTEST (honestly the only supplements I buy (except fish oil)) MUFASA, PATRICIA, KO, NATE DOGG,JASON NORCROSS, DRAX,KELLY BAGGETT, HEB, COACH DAVIES, etc. Your advise is far more valuable than anything I have taken in over the past 6 years that i’ve been training. Give yourselves a good hard slap on the back ‘cause your a good lot a folks’ THANK YOU!!!
You da man!
And a fond thank you! And you keep up the good work, dude!
And I would like to say that I sure as hell wish I had the advise of the fine T-People here while preparing for my last contest - I know I would have looked *AMAZING*.
Glad to see that you are back in the swing of things. Keep it up!
BTW, I saw you and Drax were talking about some of the old time strongmen books. I just got Bill Hinbern's catalog and was excited about all of the interesting reading about the old timers. I don't have any of these books. Any suggestions to get a good historical perspective of what these guys did?
Glad I could help.
Jason - I don’t think I know what you mean. Those books are on training so it would depend on what your goals are because there are ones which are specifically about gaining weight but all are about getting strong.
I understand your point. I read through the catalog a little closer and saw that most of the books are focused on training methods rather than history. That is fine. I hope to pick up a few of these books over the next few months, but the first one I wanted to get was a book that focused on the history of strongmen: who they were, what they did, lots of pictures etc.
I’ve already got enough training ideas to keep me busy for a while, so I’ll pick up the training books as I see need.
I’ve got Goerner the Mighty coming in the mail right now. It’s about Hermann Goerner & his life & all his best lifts like lifting a 300lb dumbell clean to his shoulder with one hand, writing his name on a blackboard with a 100lb dumbell tied to his thumb, his 727lb one hand deadlift, etc. That & Sandow’s biography are probably the closest things to a biography that he sells. Ironmind sells Sons of Samson, I & II, which has stuff on just about every strongman from the late 1800’s to 1996 or something (500 in just the 1st volume). I don’t have those though, so I don’t know much else about them. Find them on the Ironmind site. I’ve got Speed & Strength by Dale Harder though & that has a bunch of trivia & stats on just about everything, like age & weight records for the power lifts, olympic lifts, Basque stonelifting, football, Arthur Saxon, The Mighty Atom, track & field & all kinds of notable lifts that those athletes did. There’s lots of pics too. I really like that one.
horace: THANKS, bro!
I know that it can sometimes be a VERY overused statement…but here it is anyways…I gain a lot more from all you guys than I think I give…posting and getting feedback is fun…sometimes frustrating…but I do look at this as a small “community”. Besides that…health and fitness is an absolute PASSION for me…
Glad to see you’re back in the saddle!
Thanks Drax. I wrote those titles down and will look into picking those books up.
