I think that’s what most the police in my town do. What else could be so damn interesting that they have to pull over for hours on end and stare at? They got Oprah on those things?
Yeah. Re-runs only though, so don’t joined the force based on that.
The woman who hit me was on her cellphone, on an empty street that was straight for miles in both directions. I was in a stalled out, not moving vehicle.
stay off your phones, before you fuck up some kids new car.

I believe the UK has just toughened up its laws regarding using a phone whilst driving.
7 years maximum prison sentence for using a phone and causing an accident.
14 years for an accident that kills someone.
Good. I think it’s a bad idea to use your phone whilst driving.
Yes indeed. £60.00 fine and three points on your license for just being seen talking on a phone even in standing traffic.
I saw a serious RTA near where I work a few weeks ago where a guy drove into an old lady. I don’t know if the guy was on the phone at the time but the police took his phone as well as the car for evidence.
Personally I just silence the damn thing when I get in my car.

The fact that you are so intent on arguing with all opposition on texting while driving (becasue you are an excellent texter, driver, and have had a cell phone for 6 whole years) tells me that you have not yet reached that level of maturity.
Younger folks are more in touch with new technology, you old ducks need to catch up.
This isn’t such a big deal. Not in my city at least. Traffic is usually so bad, you don’t move fast enough to worry. Its just another skill that people learn to cope with everyday life.

Like…two seconds at most?
While hardly scientific they did do an episode of Mythbusters a few years ago where Adam and the hot chick did a road test while talking to each other on cell phones, then they got drunk and did the road test again. They passed it drunk if I remember correctly, and failed talking on the cell phones.
The thing I can’t figure out is it’s not any different than talking to the person in the passenger seat, yet I know I don’t pay the attention I should when I’m on the phone, which is why I just ignore it or pull over.

I am irate people actually do this shit. Stop before you kill someone!

I think I might have posted this in another thread, but I wish cell phones had a voice annotation feature so that you could just talk into your phone and it will convert it to a text message and send it.
And if it could read an incoming text message aloud it would be better. Especially if it was in the senders voice. And if it was in real time that would be even cooler.

Why don’t they invent phones like that?
Man, analog_kid already gave me crap about this on the previous page and now I have to hear it from you, too?

Best. Frickin. Post.
Why people think their personal lives come at the possible expense of others’ actual ones is pretty ridiculous. Just turn your stupid phones off or ignore them for the niggling time you are in your vehicle. Seriously. You are not that important. No matter what you think.

You did see my follow up to that, right?
I posted it before I saw anal_kids response. I think they should start working on machines that blow you while you drive as long as you keep both hands on the wheel.

Do you even know how to text?
Runs and hides
FYI - I know how to text. I’m not a dinosaur. The argument is about wheather you should text while driving. Keep to the agenda here grasshopper.
BTW, I think older people have a pretty good grasp on technology. Even my ancient grandma uses a computer, cell phone, digital camera and a microwave! I am, however, pretty sure grandma doesn’t know how to text…

Damn I suck at kidding around.
It is very irresponsible to handle a phone or fiddle with the radio too much while driving. Tough penalties on phones usage or any kind while driving are fine by me.

lol. Make note to self: A) When you call a woman an “old duck” she’s not going to think you’re kidding around. I know this from experience - I once referred to my grandma’s card-playing cronies as “old birds” and she took offense.
B) Symbols such as :>) ()() are useful when you are kidding around.
Edited to say - thank you for subcoming to my voodoo
