Just read this weeks t-mag, and first off try to ease up on the flamming for reading so late, ive had college transcripts to work on so F off! Anyways, this topic is in response to the 17 year old in reader mail who was worried about people thinking hes “too big” BS! Fuck anyone who tries to hinder what you love. I’ve been training as long as you, am 17, 5’9, weight round 207 at a bodyfat percent approx 8-9%.
Any other teens want to post there stats? share what’s been most difficult a bodypart of hinderence youve needed to work on? For me its been my lats. Share grow learn.
who gives a shit.
i know a guy just turned 18 that is bigger and leaner than me. he has been to the gym less than 10 times in his life i have been training 8 years. Hes a freak. what does that prove? Nothing.
Most of the people here are more interested in progress than whether they are bigger than someone else, cause theres always someone bigger…
Shoot…try being a girl who lifts. I constantly get idiotic comments such as, “I’d date you but your arms are bigger than mine”…“I can see your quads through your pants from OVER HERE you need to stop squatting”…blah blah blah. There’s a group of women in my gym who irritate me by doing that catty sort-of compliment thing…“Oh wow you’re so strong…but I don’t want to look like you do, I just want to lose weight”…rawr. I know they’re double my bf, if not triple.
I have abs. I have forearm veins. I sure as hell ain’t ugly :). People just get too stuck in their preconceptions of what looks good…and anything that looks different is automatically bad.
elevneyes, KEEP ON TRAINING! I’d love it if I could get my girlfriend in the gym…I cant stand it when girls I know talk about how they want to improve their bodycomposition and then go pop diet pills, drink slim fast and run on the tread mill for 3 hrs all because they dont want to be big! Let other girls talk all they want when they’re forty years old and run down and your still look’n young, firm, and fit then who has the last laugh.
Yeah he wasn’t very big but by average-moron standards he was bigger and the main issue was it was freaking out family and other average morons who apparently get scared of better than average muscularity for someone his age…
Still, quote ridiculous, I’m sure we’ve all had those type of comments and thoughts from friends, relatives, etc.
I’m 19, 5’6 only 165-170lb with 11%bf. When my mom told me that I was getting “too big”. I just picked her up off the floor, said “Good! I’m almost halfway there.”
Oh man, after eleveneyes and snippdawg talked, it reminded me of the patheticness of chicks who always approached me for fat loss advice.
I recall one chick telling me that she didn’t want to run on a treadmill or go on a stair master, so those machines “build leg muscle.” The same chick also quit dancing and other physical activities just because she saw “leg muscle” coming out.
Honestly, I’m lucky these days in the era of the skinny-fat craze to find a chick who can walk up a pair of stairs without panting.
I had a girlfriend that was 5’ 6" 95 lbs and ate like a horse, she had hyperthyroidism. My current fling is a starter on the D-1 rugby team so having seen both ends of the spectrum, I prefer the dainty/fragile girls
