TC:

I didn’t want to hijack Jana’s thread…so I wanted to start one on a topic I’ve wondered about for some time (the Topic came up on Jana’s “Cory Everson Nude” thread)…

Okay…Cory, Anja, Marjo, Janice, Lisa?

The list could go on and on with the ladies of the 80’s and 90’s world of Female Bodybuilding…big for their time…but smaller than many FIGURE competitors today.

I DON’T want to make this a question of who was “better” …but certain facts cannot be disputed…MANY (not all) of the ladies today are showing more than ever the effects of huge (comparative) amounts of AA’s and polypharmacy use (GH, thyroid hormone, Clen, insulin, etc.)

My questions are these:

  1. Did the ladies of that earlier period “choose” to not use large amounts of anabolics and polypharmacy…or did they just not have the knowledge/availability/“balls” (or desire) to take drugs at the levels needed to acquire the physiques you see today in FBB?

  2. Were doses of AA’s SMALLER or the SAME…and that what we see today is actually the effect of all the ADDITIONAL drugs in use?

  3. If you have time, could you give us an idea of what may have been a typical cycle for say a Ms. Olympia Competitor of that time compared to today? (I realize that you are out of that game now, but I just wanted a GENERAL idea).

4)I just wanted to ask Jana’s question here one more time…would it be possible for a woman today to reach the comparable build of those ladies of the 80’s and 90’s naturally, given our greater knowledge of nutrition and supplementation? (And for any of you smart-ass hacks…I’m NOT suggesting that an OTC supplement or enough consumed chicken breast could be “just like Deca”…)

As always…thanks for your time, TC!

Wow…

There sure are a LOT of views!

(Isn’t that a GREAT pic that Jana found of Cory?)

  1. It was probably more a question of “syle” and “taste.” In other words, they pushed the boundaries as far as they thought acceptable for the time period.

Had the public been ready for female physique monsters, the girls probably would have pushed the envelope, i.e., used more drugs.

Instead, the women became bigger and bigger gradually. You kind of saw the same thing happening in female fitness contests. In the beginning, they were close to natural, but each year, contestants would start to use a litle more drugs and within a few years, the fitness contestants looked like the professional female bodybuilders of the late 80’s,

  1. Back then, most of the women stayed with relatively sane doses of nandrolone and anavar and added clenbuterol when contest time came. I doubt most would use more than a hundred millgrams of nandrolone a week, and not year round.

Today, women might also use nandrolone, albeit higher doses, and as contest time approaches, start using as much as a total of a gram of anabolics a week. For instance, they might use 100 mg of methenolone enathate and 75 mg of mesterolone on Monday (in addition to tamoxifen, leveothyroxine, and ephedrine), followed by similar doses on Tueday, Wednesday, etc. Many would also inject about 2 IU of GH most nights, too, as the contest neared.

  1. Yes, I do think that women today could pretty much duplicate or even exceed the physiques of the women of the late 80’s and early 90’s with today’s superior knowldege of training, diets, and supps.

Great stuff, T…

You will see a LOT of comment on these sites comparing “era’s”…while a lot of it is a bunch of idealistic nostalgia, there WERE some differences that are hard to ignore.

One point that you made is interesting…the GRADUAL increase in size that has occured. I would imagine that this increase followed whatever was being rewarded in the contest…

Another one was Fitness…a few years ago, one of the upper level competitors (I can’t remember her name…it will come to me…) had a VERY public tirade as she began to see larger and larger women (who were obviously juicing) winning contest. She said that it was going to destroy the sport.

Many attributed it to “sore losing”. Time has shown that she was actually right…

Anyway…just some thoughts…

Great stuff, TC!

It MAY have been Mia Finnegan? (Whom has gone one to establish her own successful fitness buisness…)

I’m not 100% sure though…

Mufasa

I’m sorry but that chick looks nasty. Next.
