Right now I’m dieting down, and was thinking about where I am going.
Im both thin and fat, if that makes any sense. 6’6" 222 TBM, 18-19% BF, which equates to about 182 LBM.
This is my first time in my life that I really feel like I have gotten all variables dialed in, and really feel like I am going to drop the fat . . .reading the hot roxx challenge and CD/EDT results, to my surprise, are really inspiring.
But at my lower LBM, how low should I go without looking garrish? I really want to start a bulk cycle, but have always read you need to get pretty low BF. what would a good target be?
12% bf
anything under 10% and your gold. A lot will consider 12% a good number as well.
But being skinny as you are, or atleast your makeup is to be skinny, your metabolism should be pretty fast. WHich makes your fat loss cycle all that much easier. Im short and skinny and have no trouble dropping fat.
Stick to it though, don’t quit half way through because you have cravings…

Well according to BMI calculations (which I think are complete bull shit as they don’t take muscle mass into account) you would look good at 170.
But let’s take the better body fat percentage approach.
If you went down to 200lbs with a 34in. waist you’d have approximately a 13% body fat percentage.
This would give you 174lbs. of lean mass, which should definitely be enough to cover your frame.
At 190 and 32inch. you’d have 10% body fat and 171 Lbs. of lean mass.
As for when to bulk up Johon Berardi wrote a column here: Strength Training, Bodybuilding & Online Supplement Store - T NATION
where he noted it’s better to bulk up AFTER losing weight–the info’s at the bottom if I remember correctly.
I wish I could help you more with real life examples but I’m a full foot shorter than you are.
"If you went down to 200lbs with a 34in. waist you’d have approximately a 13% body fat percentage. "
Not really sure how you can say that with such confidence, considering that we don’t know anything else about this guy. Trying to take an overall BF percentage from only a waist measurement isn’t going to give you much (if any) accuracy…
Jodgey, why don’t you just try the CD/EDT for a cycle, go on 5x5 for a month (with maintenance cals), then do another CD/EDT cycle and see where you are at that point? I bet that you’ll see a very large shift in your bodycomp, without losing much weight at all.
