Hey Pch if you check out my back pictures you’ll see I’m all hips. We’re all built differently.
Yeah, while I don’t enjoy having extra, my extra doesn’t distribute too badly. I saw a pear shaped guy at the gym the other day, he was all hips. It’s really odd to see on a dude. You are sexy female all hips.

You’ve got a gorgeous shape, great curves as Snapper said! Your upper back looks really strong and wide too, no wonder you’re so strong in the rowing movements.
Thanks, I feel like I’m pretty dense. People usually peg me at 20lbs lighter then I am. It’s odd that wide is a compliment, it definetly helps keeps an hourglass though I occasionally feel like Im losing my neck. I don’t shrug, ever, but bjj has a lot of that motion in it. It’s hard to remember that moving a heavy guy around is a lot like lifting.
Quick and dirty for last week. I’m on my phone, so lots of little posts, sorry!
Sunday - BJJ at the college. Went over triangle escapes, I know them, I’m finding that I just don’t actually do them while rolling. Something to drill. I’m also having trouble finishing from mount no gi. They do the stupid twisty arm thing and I have trouble controlling it while not getting rolled. I also have to work on staying mounted while they buck, I know to sprawl on the hip but I’m too slow.
Monday - BJJ, I went to class, but have no idea what we did. Some days are like that, huh.
Tuesday - Picking up stuffs.
Warm up
I looked up Kevins thread on mobility in over 35, and tried some of those things.
I really like the shoulder broomstick stuff.
Played with some OH squat stuff. The shoulder warm up really helped with keeping my arms above my head. I can really only do it with the body bar, and do occasionally fall backwards, but it’s feeling better. I mostly like it for getting my body used to moving at this point.
A1) DB BP 30x5x5
A2) Kroc Row 45x5x5
DB Pull Overs 20x2x10
I don’t know if these are doing anything, but they feel cool. I enjoy the stretch.
BW Rows 10,7,5 reps
LP 94lbs reps down from 7
Partial Chins
Tricep press down machine - there are no numbers just dots so five dots x5x5
So, I’m supposed to do front squats but I don’t like them, so I think I’ll just do something different.
I sucked it up and did my sets, but I think it’s the last time for a while.
You don’t like squats? Do 'em anyway. You’ll get used to them and maybe (if you’re lucky) get good at 'em too. If you don’t like front squats, do back squats, or box squats or zercher squats. Find a squat style and learn to love it.

Oh no, it’s just front squats I’m not loving, though I’ve liked them in the past. I’m still doing regular back squats. I actually managed to hit a PR last week, the big boy plates! Only for one rep, but I’ve never hit 135 before.
Now that is the reason I can’t do martial arts- there are very few people I would be happy to tumble with. Give me a long stick to bash someone with instead.
I hate front squats too – ow collarbones! The closest thing to a solution I’ve found is wearing a sweatshirt. It’s one of those things that I’d imagine is much easier if you have substantial delts.

Is this what you mean by triangle escapes?:

Sounds like fun. ;)
That’s a body triangle, and my waist is actually not small enough for most of our guys to do that to me. I’m talking about a triangle choke, I’ll find some visors when I’m at a computer.
Sounds fun, is actually pretty annoyng. Though saying ‘Can I mount you and then drill staying on you while you struggle?’ is interesting. After a bit BJJ makes you weird. We have no real personal space. I had a whole conversation with someone while I was flattened in half guard. It’s something you only notice when he relaxes and you feel all of his weight.
I did kung fu for a bit when I was about 10-11…I really liked it but my mom pulled me out due to her schedule and money issues…its something I still think about though…I have no idea how I would fit it into my schedule, but I’d like to try it out again one day!
My brother was going to the gym, and I had energy to burn so I joined him. I didn’t really have a plan so just played.
Warm up
Some DeFranco stuff
OH squat playing
Complex without letting go of the bar, first set has 7 reps pyramid down.
60lbs
DL
SLDL
Row
Clean
Push Press
Squat
G Morning
The set with 5 reps is my hump. If I can get through it I’m fine, but it’s always a struggle. In the middle some guy decided he had to curl next to me. I almost swung the loaded bar at him. I don’t want to be the angry hostile chick at the gym, but I can’t take much more.
Then I played with squats. I can’t find a front squat thats loving me currently. What did love me was the back squat. I was just playing, so I didn’t really keep track, but I just added weight to the bar then did as many reps as I wanted. I think I’ll work with 115 for 5x5 for a bit. I did throw 135 on there, and managed a rep! I’ve never had the big boy weights on there before. It was a struggle going up, but I did it, which means soon I’ll be repping it.
BJJ we did self defense, and I ended up working with an 105lb 16 yr old boy. It’s always odd to work with someone that small. It was what to do if they grab you from behind around the waist and pick you up. The guys are always wondering why anyone would do thatto them, but I’ve had it happen plenty of times while out. Drunk guys will just walk up behind you and pick you up. While they usually put you down with a slap on the hand, it’s nice to know that you can tree top them just by grabbing a leg.
I didn’t roll. After class I over heard the boys talking about going out and Dallas thinking about dating bums me out. I just went home after drilling. Mopey girl actually lasted until Friday, so I just pouted and slept on Thursday.
C1) Split Squats BWx2x5 12x1x5 24x2x5
I played with adding weight I think I can use the weird small bar next time for all of them.
C2) SL SL DL 60x5x5
These are feeling so much better now!
I think I’ll drop the Lat pull downs and BW rows on chin up day. It’s getting to be a lot of work for that movement plane. I’m going to have to get bands or something.
