haha. what do i do instead of foam rolling my pecs? i do shoulder dislocates. slowly. trying to feel the stretch. trying (eventually) to work my hands in to something approximating a clean grip.

that is some real nice squatting!

i think… one of the comments… was about slowing your descent. really sitting hard into a tight bottom position with a good lumbar arch (if that makes sense). not because things look wrong… but more about things looking optimal with respect to a moving the weight at the end of the day pov.

isn’t it amazing how squats feel like they take forever on the ascent whereas the vid shows hardly a pause? damn squats.

yes… i think i got my starting strength idea from you. it is something that i recommend to others… guess it is time i tried it for myself. more than happy to be your starting strength buddy

I would say vid from the side…that way you can see better what your back is doing.

I used shoulder dislocates as the sub too. I was wondering.

At the time I was thinking about slowing my decent, but then it turned into. Oh, this is heavy, hello gravity. If I can control it up I shoul dbe able to control it down.

Yipee! A buddy.

Your new name threw me off a bit - I was wondering who you were![/quote]

Are you wearing socks with yours? I haven’t been, and now I’m wondering what the best way to clean them is. Can I just wash them, do you know?

Yeah, I needed some change. Sorry!

No taping, too many people last night.

People keep letting their kids wander and they seem to end up playing with the weights. So the room fills up with 9 year olds (how olds a kid that comes to my elbow?). It’s both adorable and super annoying. I keep contemplating complaining. They shouldn’t be in there, there is a big sign that says no kids. But then I don’t want to be that guy. What’d you think?

Wends AM Yoga
She tried to be cute and add in ‘strength training.’ So we did a few sets of SLDLs with 2 lbs dumbells. It was nice to be able to rock at something during yoga class. Next we did a plank thing that I totally did not rock at. We started in regular on you hand yoga plank, then lowered one forearm, then the other. We were supposed to go back and forth 10 times while still in plank. I had to take breaks. This was hard, but I likes it.

I think I’m going to start keeping a list of things I want to be good at. This plank thing (anyone know it’s name?) is going to be on there.

Hiya Patch.
Hmm, that’s always been a noodle scratcher for me too. Then there’s the we are NOT our bodies, emotions, thoughts, etc. Merp, I over analyse things too much.

As for the yoga, think you need to ask your instructor to help you find the best placement FOR YOU. That’s what they are there for (or at least should be), it shouldn’t be a struggle. Sometimes all it takes is just a guiding hand in the right place (I’m talking about yoga here now

Thanks! You wouldn’t believe what I’ve seen people try to do on that machine.

Wends PM

Walk to gym

Corrective complexes - I really like these

lbs x sets x reps
A1) BW row 5x5
A2) Incline Push up 5x5
The push ups are why I did this. I’ve been bitching about push ups for far too long. Less bitching, more doing ← new motto

B1) What’d you call a Single leg straight leg DL with the weight in the contralateral hand? Well that with 30 x5 x5 ea leg
B2) Jumping Lunges x5 x5 ea leg
Did it for the jumping. I bitch about jumping too.

C1) DL 115x5 165x4 155x4x5
165 was just a bit too heavy.

I actually felt great after this. I had to drag my ass to the gym, but felt alive on the way home.

I have been wearing very thin socks with the Merrels but no socks with my Fivefingers. Apparently you’re supposed to be able to chuck Vibrams in the wash but I don’t have a washing machine (I get a service wash done at the laundrette but I doubt they would approve of washing my shoes!) I’d just handwash them if they need it. Apparently a baking soda solution takes care of the whiff.

Thursday AM

Did not feel like jumping around. Was 15 min late to the gym so did barely anything.
Failed at incline walking on the treadmill.

Warm up

Ab Stuff:
Dead bugs
Palloff Press
Med Ball Sit ups

Rowed about 2000m in 15 min (Hence Bre’s vid)

upper body warm up = shoulder dislocates and foam roll.

less bitching and more doing is a fab moto in all life situation.

I got the ‘if you keep doing that you’re going to look like a man’ thing today. I really wanted to tell the skinny hipster he didn’t even know what a man’s supposed to look like. Dude, if your forearm, bicep and wrist are all the same size, you are doing something wrong.

I’ll see what I can do about acquiring some thin socks. Thanks

Frenchie! You inspired me to do try sumo last night. I think I loves them. They feel way more natural than conventional.

Got this link from Dixie, going to put it here so I can come back and find it when I need to.

These are the kind of statements I save for days when I’m just not feeling it. I like it. And your hipster story made me chuckle as well.
