The upper part of my traps are really tight. It’s where I hold all my stress. Any advices on dealing with it? I can’t figure out how to foam roll there.

These are the kind of statements I save for days when I’m just not feeling it. I like it. And your hipster story made me chuckle as well.
It’s what I try to keep in mind too. I literally bitched the whole walk there, and practically skipped back.

Tennis ball(or softball) against the wall…roll up and down and all around…feels gooooood.

Thursday PM
Yoga
We focused on shoulder stuff. It was heavenly. I asked about downward dog foot width and she said it varies but should be hip width or closer.

EDIT: I forgot, I rowed 3500m in 21:00min

Then I wandered into the weight room and played with sumos. I think I loves them, and today my ass is screaming. Woo hoo!

Friday AM
Bootcamp
First time in new shoes. My heel hurts a bit. I’ll adjust to not stomping soon enough. Jumping rope needs to be sucked up and done more often.

oh yes. that picture of the guy doing the plank… that is what most of the guys in my gym look like. and they stand there for ages doing their curls and checking themselves out in the mirror… and i feel very self conscious indeed that i got more muscle than them without a pump. but ugh… they don’t look like men. that is true.

i put my vibrams in the washing machine once a week because i find they get whiffy otherwise. they also get a little slimy feeling… probably because i tend to walk through wet grass etc and they don’t seem to dry out properly unless they are washed. the black is fading to a reddish tinged brownish black. the stitching is holding up well, though. apparently socks helps a lot. and baking soda, yeah.

are you doing starting strength??

Yeah, I like my men to look a little indestructible. BJJ has given me an appreciation for how strong little lean guys can actually be, but I still prefer to bite a bit of meat.

Yes, doing SS. TOM threw a wrench in it, but today I went full go. Workout and vid coming.

lacrosse ball works great for this…You can use it against or laying on your back in a glute bridge for even more bodyweight on the ball…warning, it may make you a bit gaggy and cry the first time you do it.

Friday PM

Awesomesauce session today. Went in, got shit done. No confuzled dicking around.

Walk to gym - 1m

Corrective Complexes
Mah butt hurts, so I added in a bit of butt area foam rolling

lbsxsetxreps
Squat BWx5 Barx5 65x5 85x3x5
This felt good. Video attached. Forgive my saggy butt pants. I’m working on filling them out.

DB Press 15x5 20x5 25x3 20x3x5
I switched to DBs, the bar is too long, and I don’t like it. 25 was just too heavy, but I felt good with the 20s.

Power Clean Weird little light bar+20lbsx5x3
I haven’t actually done these from the floor before. It’s weird, I’m going to have to stalk Alexus a bit more to see what’s going on. How much does the weird little light bar weigh? I did what I thought I was supposed to do, and it was hard, so I was happy.

Walk home - 1m

Frenchie! You inspired me to do try sumo last night. I think I loves them. They feel way more natural than conventional.
they will work your ass out too

and screw the idiot who says you’ll look like a dude. a hard round ass is very feminine.

reminds me of the old lonely guy at my gym (called me princess once), he saw me bench actually taped me on the shoulder (I was trying to ignore him) and said, “I saw you, you cheated”. I replied super polite: “In what matter do you think I cheated?” Old dude “your back wasn’t flat on the bench.” stupid grin …I told him I was doing provincials, I know how to bench and that different styles were used for different reasons. He actually looked properly shamed and walked away.

Lesson of the day there is always someone there waiting to bust your groove. don’t let them.

He actually said it about MPs and my shoulders, which I don’t understand. I’ve got a bit of a sausage arm thing going on right now :frowning: I’m wondering if I should start doing curls. I can’t even remember the last time I did any direct arm work.

Princess? Not that you’re not adorable, but seriously, princess?

Sat
Yoga - Magically the class always ends up doing what I need it to. There was a lot of piriformis/butt stretching.

Monday - Am
Spin

Then I went blueberry picking! 11 pounds of blueberries for $15. I now have a freezer full.

PM

Walk to gym - 1m

Corrective Complex

lbsxsetsxreps

Bench 45x5 65x5 80x3x5 75x5
The last set of 80 I needed help, and felt bad for it so I did the set of 75 to deal with it.

Squat BWx5 45x5 85x2x5 85x5
The weight felt super heavy today, so I had to take a suck it the fuck up lap before the last set. I really didn’t want to do it but I did and I’m glad I did.

Sumo 85x5 135x5 155x3x5 185x1
My brain is still figuring out what to do on these, but I can just tell that I’m going to be able to add weight to this fast. The 185 didn’t feel that bad once my butt figured out it was part of the action. I’ll tape this next time so you all can make sure I’m doing it right.

yes princess. you’ve seen my vids. I do not give the princess vibe one bit.

nom on the blueberries and 185 sumo dead is nice! even nicer that it felt easy.

i’ve never tried pulling sumo, do you prefer it to conventional? congrats on getting your squats done

i don’t know how much the weird little bar weighs… i reckon that the main thing with powercleans is to use them to train hip drive. so long as you aren’t hurting anything and you are using hip drive then they are good enough to progress usefully. have you done kettlebell swings where you pop your hips through and feel the kettlebell jump up in your hands without using your hands / arms to get it to jump up? the powerclean is a similar movement with the hip drive. then the set up is much like a conventional deadlift and once you get it just past your knees you do the quickly driving your hips thing to get it to jump to the rack. there is a bit of a knack to it. once you get it you will be surprised how much weight can really fly up there!

nom on blueberries. they are really very massively expensive in this part of the world. rules them out for me, unfortunately :frowning:

DID YOU SAY BLUEBERRIES

I <3 them - ate a bunch today.

good work on pushing the sumo.

frenchie you need to get iron on letters that say princess for your shorts.

Love blueberries!!! Bet I would love blueberry picking too, but how did you not eat them all as you were picking them?
kmcnyc wrote:

I’ll get “Princess in training”
my ass is big enough for it

Dat ASS.

P- I saw you were ‘dieting.’ How are you going about that? Just cleaning stuff up?
alexus wrote:

I think I do. It just feels better. Also, my ass is telling me it’s really good for it.

I tried to keep this in mind last night, I’m having a lot of trouble not death gripping the bar. So then racking at the top gets weird. It’s a lot for my wrists to deal with. They already don’t like me so much. (No one tells you that perfecting the ability to separate yeast cells will kill your wrists!) Has this been an issue for you?

I haz a sad for you.
kmcnyc wrote

This is a great idea! It’ll look way better than the thousands of butts labeled “PINK” I see on campus.
minimaltechno wrote:

Um, so… yeah, I did eat as I picked. I added 2cups of blueberries to my calorie count to make up for the random nomming. One can only eat so many blueberries though, after a little while it’s hot and tiring and you just want to fill the damn bucket and go home.

The worst for eating while picking is cherries. Each try is a different variety and some trees have branches grafted on, so they suggest trying a cherry off each branch you pick from to make sure it’s one you like. I probably at 4 cups of cherries while picking those.

Soon it’s peaches!

Cheap fresh fruit is one of the few benefits of being surrounded by farm.
