BJJ

I didn’t take Tuesday off since I hadn’t done anything all weekend, so I ended up crashing hard last night. One can only run for so long on red bull  I took a 4 hr nap and woke up right before class, I wasn’t going to go but it was one of the guys last days and I feel as though it’s important to show teammates that you care. I’m finding that guys don’t always operate under that assumption. The closer I get to this group of guys, the more I realize that we do not think in the same way. Occasionally I wonder if they think at all

It was a small class, so we mostly goofed around. We did go over the genie arm bar and the baseball choke. I drilled the umpa to escape mount a bit. I need to keep my head flush to the ground and active in holding their arm in place, while aloe making the angle as extreme as possible.

Onions! I’ve been eating them like crazy, I feel sorry for those around me. What could possiblly be missing in my diet to cause an onion craving?

Yup, that’s the catch hanging out with guys more then girls. It’s not that they don’t care, it’s they rarely go out of their way unless they are getting laid.

Onions huh? maybe your just weird

Onions are high in VIT C and Magnesium. wouldn’t it be better to crave oranges then?

Or maybe since onions are laced in sulfur, it is working to rid your body of toxins? Has how your digestion been prior to your onion craving?

Don’t I sound smart. :stuck_out_tongue:

My digestion? I guess it’s been normal, I don’t really have issues in general. The sulfur thing is interesting though.

I’m not dead, I just managed to sprain my ankle pretty badly and have been a mopey mess as of late. It’s not so bad now though, so I think if I wrap it well, I’ll be able to get back into the swing of things.

The academy started offering a Women’s Self Defense class, and after the first session, I think I get to take over teaching it. We have to build a good base of students first though.

cool class to teach!

Sprains suck. I hope you heal up quickly.

That grey cat, that’s how I feel.

haha, me too!!

LMAO. Back in NY, I had two cats that hated each other. I was really young and thought it’ll be funny to put them in the same room together with the door closed… oops.

Hey guys!

It’s been a while, a long while. I haven’t really been in the gym since I last posted in here. Since then I’ve moved, actually started writing my thesis, and tore up my ankle. I never stopped BJJ which is why my ankle is progressing slowly, but it’s getting there so I’ve wandered into a new weight room recently and thought I’d start logging again.

I’ve just been playing in the weight room lately, I’ll eventually have a plan but for now I’m just going to have fun. I feel like I know enough of the basics to play intelligently.

I tried regular back squats this weekend, but with a limited ankle ROM I can only get about 1/4 of the way down before things are completely off. So those guys are off the table for a bit. Since of been rolling, I haven’t lost all my strength, just acquired a layer of cushioning.

On Sat ( first day at the new gym)
YTLW
Some ankle rehab
DL 135 5x5
Split Squats BW 5x5

Then I hopped over to BJJ. It was a small class so mostly question and answer. I’m working on getting the knee drive motion I to my body and my game. I get bumped backwards when live rolling. I forget to snag the leg.

Sunday I was sore as fuck, so went to no gi just to stretch. We escaped the figure four on the back, but with my extra padding kids aren’t pulling that shit on me right now. I also did a bit of foam rolling.

Sorry about the flakiness guys, I’ve got pages and pages of logs to catch up on. And a bunch of new people to meet.

Monday!

Ugh my Monday went from slow and lazy to frantic in a split second.

Gym
Ankle Rehab stuff
YTLW
Single arm snatch 35 5x5 I tried a set with 40 and while doable it was a bit much. Maybe next time.
BB BP 45x5, 55x5, 65x5, 75x5x5, pyramid back down
Inverted rows BWx5x5

Later went to class. We did over hook based submissions. With the omaplata I need to use my foot on their face to push up and to the right angle. To bump out of mount I need to trap the foot better. Keep my elbows out side of the hips for my open, and more face pressure and stepping up quicker for my pass. I know this is babble to everyone, but it helps me, and if you care I can extrapolate.

herro!!!

Sometimes I get weird cravings for onions… and other strange food. try iron supplements 2x a week…I feel like crazy good and awake when I take them…Not sure if it’s placebo or not, but I really feel good the days that I take them.

Hey MiM. How’s it going?

The onion thing was a while ago, but iron is an interesting thing to keep in mind. I’ve just been eating whatever I want lately, haven’t really been on a streak of anything specific. Boiled carrots? Nutrition is so annoying.

hi pch - glad things are healing up. I don’t get all of it but I get the general idea. I’m probably imagining the same 3 moves in my head all the time.

omaplata:

So, I’m home and there’s no Internet at home yet, which means no videos. I’m going to go watch SoA with the crew later so I’ll check it out then. Living Internet free (it’s been almost a month) isn’t actually all that bad. Really makes you stay on task, no cable either. When you have to seek out your entertainment it much less time wasting. I think most people in these parts are tv free anyway.

On a related but not tangent. Have any of you heard of the blog Life Less Plastic? I read the whole thing over the summer and it’s really made me think about my consumption in general. I’ve been trying to use less junk… I stuck to the no shampoo thing and now actually just rinse my hair with water every once in a while and about once a month I do a vinegar rinse. After the initial getting used to it phase, it’s been just list it was when I washed it with shampoo. It’s way less maintenance and does a cool slight curl thng it’s never done before.

Back to the BJJ, it’s pretty much the same few moves over and over. The key is know when to use those moves, sounds simple but is not that simple to actually learn.

Oh, Main There’s actually a really good BJJ photographer I think you’d enjoy. I’ll figure out her website and put the link in your log. She gets gorgeous action shots.

Oh hai  it’s cool to see a fighter round these parts!
