And this is why I need to go to the gym tonite. The ‘small one’ is 145lbs! 132 and up is a stupid stupid weight class.

sweet baby jesus! that looks like David and Goliath. Who can really look at that and say it’s a fair match?

Oh snap! I guess you should get down to 130 or so lol

scale weight and rolling always have little to do with each other…

women can hold allot of lean tissue and be small on the scale and look huge.

its about body comp and I mean bone structure

when I did the huge cuts in college- I cut to things like 118.5 and 126,130
and looked huge- cause Im short

Well, the ‘big one’ is Gabby Garcia, she’s 6’2 and in the 200s I think. The other girl is 5’5 and around 150. It was just a visually insane size difference. I need to watch more girls rolling and this one was a good get off my ass motivation.

I’ve got nothing planned in my life for the next month, no one is visiting, I’m not going anywhere. So it’s going to be a month of super focused on dropping some lbs. This last week was insanely hectic. I got blood drawn to check my thyroid hormone levels, so we’ll see if that’s contributing.

I spent most of the day in the car yesterday, but managed to sneak in the gym right before closing.

1 arm DB snatches 40 lbs 5 ea side
30 sec Plank
x5

30 min on the eliptical

Then they kicked us out.

I watched a bit of the MTV movie awards during cardio, it was just sad. Am I getting old, or is MTV just pathetic now?

MTV is pathetic!

you and me both with dropping the pounds…

MTV sucks. What happened to showing music vids? None of the music channels show music vids anymore. What’s the point in making them anyway?

MTV is sooo bad - but i watch it anyway, mental masturbation.

40s on the DB snatches?! That’s good shit!

kmc - i like the way you think w/ the sprints and jumping. I love that stuff.

I stopped watching MTV when they started showing teen drama. ugh.

6/8

20 mtn climbers
30 sec plank
20 side jump things - I had one leg on a step and other on the ground then jumped sideways to switch them. A name anyone?
3x

YTLW 5x2x8
Face Pulls Second Slot on machine 3x8

A1 BP 45x5 65x5 85x4x5 90x5 95x1
A2 DB Row 25x5 35x5 45x5x5

The 95 on BP is the highest I’ve gone! 100 is really freaking close, and if my brother had been there to tell me to suck it the fuck up I could have done it. Next time!

So for the warm up rows, I just used plates since the DB were blocked by a sea of high school kids. Do you guys ever do this? It felt like more grip work, but does the difference in weight distribution make a difference?

I tried to do push ups next, but it was fail city.

20 25lb DB swings
20 BW Squats
5x

Then I spent sometime in the sauna, all by myself. Awesome.

Rowing a 45 lb. plate would look seriously bad-ass and I’m sure you got some looks. A 100 lb. bench is super close for you. Getting into the triple digits will be awesome!

Some of the guys got together to roll and drill, and since I didn’t do anything over the weekend I joined them. So, I’ve been kinda focused on pushing the pace and being agressive with my game, but the other day when we rolled at the academy in AA I got mounted and then got stuck. That’s been bothering me for the last week.

I’m a blue belt, it doesn’t matter if I can sweep you from half guard if I can’t escape the mount. So, I think that’s what I’ll do for a while, start rolling on the bottom of mount. I’ve got a few ideas about the why, but they’re still kinda brewing so more on that later.

I drilled the loop choke from the overhook, then rolled starting from the bottom of mount.

I got 3 reps with the 45, but I didn’t think I could get 25 reps with it. Though you posted that and since I didn’t think it was impressive number I looked up some YouTube vids of snatches (YouTube, not redtube  ), and I need to use my ass and momentum more at the top. Anyone have a link to a good technique article? I’ll look it up since I like them so much, but you know, lifes easier if you can get someone else to do the grunt work. If I get my form down, I know I could go heavier.

I didn’t really notice any gawkers, but then I sometimes have blinders on. What does get looks are the snatches, I occasionally want to ask them about my form since they’re watching so intensely. I don’t think anyone at my gyms knows what they are though. For the most part I just wear a giant shirt and hope a cardio bunny wanders over to use the 5lbers. No one’s looking at me when there’s Lycra around

Triple digits, how freaking awesome will that be. Though I still prefer piling on a bunch of little plates, it’s some how much less of a big deal to put two tens and a five on the bar then a 25lb plate. Go figure.

that video is hilarious and horrible all at the same time.
I can’t believe there could be a match up like that!

100 bench is in the bag!!

I do the little plate thing all the time, especially with a stubborn PR. That triple digit bench is in your reach woman!

Up and Overs, great!

BJJ

Self defense! I ended up working with Dallas. We’ve settled into comfortable when we interact, but touching can still be a little awkward. I was just wear a tank top and the boobs in his face aspect was a bit much for me, so despite it being overwhelmingly warm I put on a t shirt. Occasionally it’s annoying that the guys go shirtless and I have to have at least two layers on.

Anyway back to training, we went over what to do if they try to chke you and lean into you. It’s a hip toss, and they key is to get your hips lower than theirs. The we did what to do if they grab the middle of your shirt. This one I need to drill more. I wasn’t able to not just dance around him, I don’t know if I didn’t get the move, or if it was Dallas.

I know it sounds odd, but some things just don’t click with him. Like the next move we did, arm bar from mount. You’re supposed to put all of your weight into the middle of thier sternum, whch is magically where boobs are, so we just decided that boobs were the defense to this and Dallas didn’t really get to drill it. I need t make it more of a flowing motion, and need to remember to keep my legs heavy to prevent them from sitting up on me.

It was one of the guys last days, and so everyone in the academy rolled with him. He had to go through 10 people so it was only 2 mins a person.

I had to get home and get some work done, so no other rolling for me.
