LOL, funny

Nothing like Ocho Cinco leaping into the Dog Pound. Great way to get himself killed.

Yes, dog pound.

Im not a vet and the Strength Forum is more my place but I vote for the Dog Pound its badly needed. How is it decided who can post there and how exactly do newer members “prove” themselves?

I just started a new thread so that all in favor of the Dog Pound’s return can be collected in one place for TC and the powers that be to count the votes in favor of it.

I have some thoughts, but I think it may be more productive to leave that question to TC and the fine staff here, rather than speculating from our side. We don’t know what they have the time to implement, etcetera. Worse, if we start talking about the mechanics, it will distract from getting the “yeas and nays.” I’m obviously not the leader or arbiter here, but I think it may be more helpful for us to determine if the Dog Pound idea is even wanted… and once we get that far, and TC tells us we can have it, then we can inquire as to whether they need input on how selection is done.

Good call Nephorn

This is why I had to start this thread, people with experience have something to say and I want to hear it, can’t happen if they leave in disgust, I hope this is headed in the right direction at least.

Good points, anyone who wants this get voting while you have the chance!

I wish we could go back to having a “Dog Pound” area, in which only vetted members could post. Maybe that would allow things to remain more focused.

Would you guys like that?

I can’t promise I can bring it back, but I won’t even try unless a number of you want it.

This is my vote in favor of reviving the Dog Pound.

I’ve been on this site for a long time, yet I rarely chime in on any forum simply because I don’t have the time or interest in getting involved in internet pissing matches with complete newbs.

Almost by definition, as T-Nation grows, the collective IQ of its members is going to drop. I think a place on this site where vets can exchange ideas and have intelligent debate could counteract this and set an excellent example for the rest of the forums.

We, T-Nation, should welcome any and all BB.com-types. Let them play in the forums, let them post ridiculous pictures of themselves, let them ask the questions that have been asked a thousand times before… But shouldn’t we also set an example of what they can aspire to be? Enter the Dog Pound…

YES!!!

Was that enough exclamation marks?

!!!
There, that should do it.
Seconded. I’d like to hear Tiri on this. I’d be mad though if I wasn’t in the pound and had to hack and slash my way through noobs on the bodybuilding forum (like I already have to do).

Some people should realize that MM2K is no more. Those days were very good and I know a lot of us want that back, but will not return for a number of reasons we need not discuss. Things are moving in a different direction now.

Bringing back the dog pound will merely drive another wedge between the “bodybuilding-interested” and the “crowd” we all wish did not exist.

THAT “crowd” exists partly because “we” allowed that rift to be created in the first place, and practising elitism will achieve nothing but make this situation go the way of H.G.Wells’ “time machine”.

If you want to discuss bodybuilding and getting huge, this is still on of the best places for that as long as you know whose advice to avoid (with the obvious exception of intensemuscle) and avoid pursuing endless tirades against members of the aforementioned “crowd”. There is plenty of information that almost everyone can extract for their respective goals.
Jmo, your call.

I am all for the Dog Pound resurrection. It used to be a place one could go and gleen tons of info. Now the bodybuilding forum is a place where there is actually a debate about what bodybuilding even means. On top of that, the noobs seem to think they need to post a fucking log every time the wind changes direction.

To TC:

Like Prof said, this isn’t a bitch about the articles, or the contributors - it’s about the invasion of people that have never learned to shut up and listen. It seems that everyone who joins thinks they need to be heard.

I want to encourage everyone who has spoken up here to also put their votes in the “Return of the Dog Pound” thread that Qaash started up, in case anyone missed it.

The clearer the mandate is, the more likely we are to get it.

Another vote for the dog pound. I would love to read more focused discussions.

Hey B3, what’s your take on the state of this site as it pertains to the Amendments listed above…you’ve got the post count of a vet.
There’s a gazillion people who post on this site and have a much higher “post count” than me, yet my name is mentioned??? Hmmm…not sure what that’s all about but okay, I’ll bite…

My first year on T-Nation I only posted on my Shut Up Thread. I read as many articles as possible and lived in the Bodybuilding, P & P Photos, Sups & Nut, and Beginner forums but rarely posted.

Never have I ever said anything negative about bodybuilding or anything remotely ignorant towards the sport. Nor will I ever. (At least knowingly.)

In the event I say something on the bbing forums I ALWAYS add the disclaimer “Im a newbie, please tell me to shut up or correct me if Im wrong”. Im not afraid to post my opinion and Im not afraid to be corrected if I am wrong. I think Ive been around here long enough for most people to know that if I open my mouth about a subject it’s out of a sincere heart to help someone with a question they may have and I can back it up with information Ive read previously. When and if Im corrected, and in the unlikeliness my little girly feelings get hurt, Im pretty quick to get over it.

The nice thing about this site is you get to pick and choose the forums you see on the screen and it’s not bombarded with ads of Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers.

If I had to say anything negative towards T-Nation it would probably be the Rate My Physique forum. Obviously it’s not the Editor’s fault that skinny ass idiots post their pictures and ask if they look “swole”. Luckily as an adult I get to pick and choose where I go on this site. Since the forum seems to be dominated by skinny ass idiots I rarely look in there anymore. yawn

SAMA keeps me laughing and laughing and laughing! The personalities keep me coming back for more.

I love the Powerful Women forum. I enjoy seeing the success of other women in the gym. Reading about their successes and failures strengthens me as a person and a wanna-be athlete.

Personally I love this site. The day I stop enjoying it is the day I remove my picture, close my profile, and take my toys to play elsewhere.

Things have been written on this site that I would have never read elsewhere. The honest opinions which have been given towards fat people has absolutely blown me away. Some things have pissed me off and other things have opened my eyes.

This is the internet…if you dont like the site go play somewhere else. It’s as simple as that. If you are not getting what you need here go away. You have the right to choose what you read and what you say on the internet. Whether you are a veteran or a newbie, if you dont like what someone has to say dont read their post. You see their screen name before you see what’s been written. If you know JohnDoe annoys the livin’ tar out of you scroll down to the next post. Doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.

So, my take on the entire thing is pretty darn simple…I love T-Nation. It’s taken awhile for me to be deprogrammed on some of my mentalities, but Im coming along nicely. If you dont like T-Nation - go some place else. You’ll be missed but trust me, we’ll get over your absence.

I agree, hell I’d be happy just to sit back and read some intelligent discussions.
