T-Nation Alphabet Soup

great thread, its taken me a while to find it

Do any of the US-based people want to start a thread on deciphering some of the commonly used slang/acronyms/abbreviations etc used on the site, not strictly training abbreviations (I think this thread is doing that pretty well)

but reading the threads and having to guess the meaning of some of the slang etc is a bit dodgey if you’re not familiar with American slang/whatever

slang etc is great when you know it, but when you don’t, you can end up sounding like a bit of dickhead

Hmm, I noticed use of the term “dodgey” so I’m guessing you may be a Brit? Somewhere in the UK perhaps? I work with a lot of Brits and they have helped me to understand their slang (which at first seemed utterly incomprehensible to me).

We could certainly try and help out here, but we would need a few examples of the slang you don’t know the meaning of (since it probably seems like second-nature to us Yanks).

Great thread Kuz! Wish I had seen this sooner since I have spent 2 days figuring out what the TBT program is

will make a list of some examples and post it here in the next few days

cheers

Finally all these acronyms make sense. I was a lil afraid to reply to a thread and ask what does this mean, what does that mean. But I still did it.
Thanks alot

I get worried about that on here - that people get so amped up half the time pounding their chests, that people new to the site are afraid to ask simple questions about what our kooky acronyms mean. Really glad this helped out.

Just to add a little bit more to this thread (and give it a bump in the process):

I’m currently using his Program Design Bible myself to create my own program and his insights on how to put together a balanced, effective program are really fantastic. Highly recommended.
