Who are Cardoza and Erica. Never see them post. Must’ve been before my time on T-Nation

Brad Cardoza and Erica from Diablo Barbell. You know them JS.
Oh, yeah I do. That’s right. But are quality. Should post more.

I used Phill as an example because his goals were radically different in the beginning, yet he learned from the experienced at the time. He quietly transformed and contributes back by constantly offering constructive advice, especially to the beginners, with little or no complaints.

Gotcha - are you sure it was a sudden trauma thing? I thought something similar about one of my thoracic vertebra which held back my training for bloody ages. After multiple trips to people from various different disciplines it turned out that a right/left trap imbalance was pulling the vertebra out of alignment.

Not saying that muscular imbalance is your problem - just suggesting that if one doctor can’t pinpoint the problem then maybe keep trying different doctors/physios etc. If a problem goes away not because you fixed it, but because you stop doing a particular exercise - then it doesn’t bode that well for starting up that exercise again?

I was getting pain down my arm and have a clicking/poping in my neck ever since then. Since that time I havent had an issue with it. It lasted through golf seasonn that year, which I’m sure prevented it from getting better faster.

I did hit 300lbs (cant remember the exact number) earlier this year a few times and it felt fine.

The only imbalance that I can see causing it is the repeated golf swing motion. But I dont think its that because it did happen right after I went snowboarding. I fell and used my right arm to support the fall bit there was no give in the snow and the shoulder “jamed” for lack of a better term. I dont know if that would cause a vertibre issue in the neck but I dont see why it couldnt.

So, I liked the direction of this thread when Cressey posted. So does anyone have any ideas how we can get more articles from people like Boyle, Tate, Charlie Francis and the other high quality coaches? (note that I like most of what we’re getting now, but it’s always nice for some variety too!)

Oh yeah, and if dan joh got an article published every week this would be a better place – that or the company who makes Alpo’s earnings will skyrocket.

As for posters to listen to, carlvalle who has been one of the best posters on a few of the message boards I’m on. Also, same thing with coachmike.

T-Nation was really a “gateway” forum for me to be able to find other resorces to help with my athletic performance.
Eric Cressey wrote:

Seriously, this should be the topic of your next article. Triple dog dare you.

Hmm…considering all the opinions being thrown around, I’ll throw some in too. Not that mine matter any more than any others.

Since I’ve been reading and trying to apply what I’ve learned (long before I ever created a user name or used it to post anything), the material on the site has gone from more-specific/less-inclusive information to a mix of general and specific information that seems designed to reach the larger audience brought in by the expansion of T-Nation/Biotest.

This is great for the company and you can’t blame them for attempting to grow through expanding their target audience. Thats the point of business. What else would you really expect of them? They try hard to make a fine product over an exclusive club.

If all the change is too hard to accept, I’d say stop supporting it and maybe they’ll get the message. Otherwise, ride the cycle out and see if you like where it ends up because they probably have some sort of goal to their business plan that keeps the original concepts of Testosterone Nation in mind.

And about whining on the forums, there may be a major influx of retarded assholes, but I doubt the majority of them stay for long unless they’re serious about getting big (not the metro bullshit version), strong, or simply becoming damned solid athletes.

Stop giving the rest of them the attention they want and they’ll go away and you’ll still have something good to call your own. Otherwise, you simply have to pack it up because internet forums are always going to have a bunch of trolls and idiots trying their best to make a mess so someone will pay attention to them.

Personally, I only wish I could’ve had this site when I was involved in team sports! I haven’t found any other sites that are as good as T-Nation, with as much solid information or as many interesting people. And there are only a few sites that I would as willingly share with people interested in their own fitness and this one is at the top of the list.

PGA, I’m gonna take this thread seriously. Let’s get some facts straight.

 1. You’ve been here for years.
 2. You’ve read serious, tested and proven articles for increasing muscle mass.
 3. You’re complaining about the lack of these “good ole’ days” articles and members sharing their methods and success stories.

These are fine and dandy. Legitimate gripes. This is where it gets funky.

How has any of these articles and/or members’ stories helped you in your progress to get man-sized? How much weight have you gained in the time you’ve been here. How much more improved has your strength gotten in the time you’ve been here? I’m looking for concrete numbers. If you’ve demonstrated average gains representative of the time you’ve been here… THEN your gripe is worthy of consideration. IF you’ve gained no substantial development: you are a poser. POSER. Can you imagine the idea of hypocrisy exhibiting this very thing that you gripe?

I’d hazard to guess 70% of the members here are fucking posers. You can spot them right away. They fucking TALK. Talk, talk, talk: never about lifting. While all the posers talk away, I’m at the gym, eating, or both at the same time. I read the articles that interest me. I scan the threads occasionally. If I have something of value to say, I’ll say it. I know the members that have anything of value to read. I read their posts. The rest is plain entertainment.

It has nothing to do with T-Nation. It has everything to do with its members. As an adult, you have to use a discerning eye and weed out the posers. Ignore them completely. They do not exist.

Where along the spectrum of poser to “Brotherhood of Iron” do you fit, PGA? With an admission on your part, I can scale your gripe accordingly. Then, I can re-think the seriousness of this thread.

First got here 142lbs skinny fat. Currently 170lbs. Was 179lbs in May, photos out there, search. I’m 5’7"

Last Max 345lbsx2

Squat

Last Max 345lbsx3

Last Max=285lbsx1

I lift consistantly from October to May. Every summer I play golf 6 days a week and weight training goes to the wayside. This year will be the first year I will have in-home gym equipment and will be able to get in more than 6 sessions total from May to August, which is what I got this year.

I like the colors red and black, I’ve hit a drive close to 400 yards and am currently a full-time designer and a part-time student.

Anything more?
I too find it ironic that you started a thread calling for the hardcore days to return. 170 lbs and golf all summer is not exactly the definition of hardcore to me.

So I must weigh over 200lbs to be considered hardcore? I must push away a goal of playing pro golf at some point in my life because you dont think its hardcore?

Incase you missed it there are a few people on here that weigh less than me and are absolute hardcore monsters. So your “logic” of weight=hardcore is wrong. I wont name any names but if you had been here for more than a year and a 1/4 you would have realized that.

70 percent??? I’d hazard to guess you’re out of your fucking mind, and being far too generous.

There’s maybe 10 people on this board who I take seriously for their training/nutrition advice.

Ten people? Your very small window (0.1% confidence interval) limits “potential” different views that may be beneficial. BUT. Your present physical stature would suggest you know what the hell you’re doing, and don’t really need info; as what you do works.

Wait. Are you suggesting that there are only ten non posers on T-Nation, or just ten people that you could learn from? There are more than ten non posers.

There are around 10 who you should listen to and a few others you can kinda listen to.
