No shit. Looking pretty damn lean for that weight too. When the next show??
Looking real thick and awfully lean for 3 bills! Can’t wait to see you stage ready…when will you be stepping on stage next?

Can you please explain what it is you are doing in the video and how/why it is effective for your bodybuilding goals.
Also, have you been competing recently or plan to compete soon? If so, in what level of show (NPC State etc).
Thanks
Pretty good work…
Read through most of this thread and I have to see I’ve learnt a shitload, thanks for all your posts!
Your one huge dude, freakin explosive 2 by the looks of that vid!

Not only is John the biggest, most explosive dude I have ever met, but he is incredibly humble and down to Earth. I was picking his brain for advice from time to time during the trip, and it felt like he was more passionate about me making progress than I was haha. Awesome guy!!
Hey man, first off…really enjoying this thread.
I have noticed that you pretty much only perform low rep sets with heavy weight. Do you disagree with high volume, high rep training programs such as GVT for hypertrophy?
Actually, I do a lot of higher rep training, I just haven’t shown any in the videos I’ve posted.
Personally, I don’t like GVT (in any of it’s forms). High volume training absolutely works, but personally, I lose mental focus and body awareness very quickly, when doing high reps per set and doing the same movement over and over.
Also, higher volume works better for certain muscle groups than others

Oh ok that’s good to know!
Which muscle groups do you feel benefit from high volume training more so than the others?
I have been doing a kind of more personalized version of GVT the past 2 week, and I like it, but I agree with you…it’s not near as fun and I lose focus.
So today I just said the hell with it and went really heavy on bi’s and tri’s and got a HUGE pump, felt great!
I’m just confused as to what is best for me lol.
Mr. Schlecht,
First off, I wanted to say how thankful I am that you post all of this information to people like me who don’t have access to a knowledgable mind like yours. I am studying exercise & sports science in college right now, and hope one day that I can know as much as you. I wanted to ask for your input on a program I could use to help me meet my goals.
I am bulking & trying to put on as much size and strength as possible right now. I am a college baseball player (junior) and I weigh 170 right now. I am blessed with good genes, therefore, I usually eat what I want lol. It has never affected me at all, but I would like to clean my diet up to give me better results. I wanted to know what your favorite bulking diet principles are, and what you like to do as far as diet when looking to put on pure size.
I want to increase my strength & explosive power. Right now my maxes for the big 3 are, and goals for the next 12 weeks or so:
I love doing olympic lifts such as cleans, high pulls, power shrugs etc. I also love high volume & hard work. I would like to know what you suggest for gaining strength & size as far as training.
I would really appreciate it if you could share your knowledge with me sir!
Thanks
Thank you for the all the info John. Were you a member at Gold’s before it shut down too? I know your gf was, as one of the employees referred me to her if I needed help.
Hi. I just now saw this message. Thank you for sending it. Yes, I used to workout at Gold’s gym in Shakopee. I loved that gym…too bad it closed down.
Yes, my girlfriend was a trainer there. Small world ![]()
