Wassup All. Just wondering what some symptoms of overtraining were. I kinda went a little crazy yesterday, I did 1 hour cardio before I went to work. During my break at work I did 1.5 hours more cardio, than after work I warmed up with 20 minutes of cardio then I did my workout and followed up again with some 30-40 minutes more cardio. My cardio is low intensity, I want to mainly use fat as my fuel source. I got plenty of sleep, took my aminos(bcaa’s), took my protein, then took my ZMA and went to sleep. I hibernated for 10 hours. Why the hell do I feel so sluggish??? I’m gonna take my MD6 and black coffee and see if I wake up a bit. Anyone know what is going on with my body? Is this overtraining??? Help!!
Dude, you’re not doing enough cardio!! What’s your problem?? You’re just out of shape!!
I think Coach King touched on this in his “Heavy Metal” column once. I seem to remember trouble sleeping and extreme sensitivity to light being a couple of signs he mentioned. Personally, I can feel a slight cold coming on and then I back off and rest up.
You? Overtraining? Yes, if this is the type of regime you undergo on a regular basis. For cardio you should need no more than two (as a maximum) sessions per day for no more than 45 minutes each. Do them on an empty stomach and immediately after weight training for best results. Try MD6 and/or T2 to help speed things up (excuse the pun). After you’ve reached your goal you can drop the cardio to once per day, three days a week.
PS Don't do your cardio at too low of an intesity. The best way (or at least I've found) is to alternate between high and low intensity in the same session. That is; walk for a bit, then run until you feel a little tired, than walk again to catch your breath, and run again. You'll have to shorten your cardio session (but isn't this a good thing?).
you must be a marathon runner or something. clearly cardio has more importance than weightlifting. BTW, it’s hard to go for that “long-distance emaciated look” at the same time as you try for the “muscular look”
You gorred the flounder, dude. Not sure what else you would expect to feel like other than shit. You did a weeks worth of cardio in one day. Then you did weights. Did you get your head checked yet?
if you aren’t used to this amount of cardio then that could be the problem. i slowly worked up to my current cardio regimine and can do up to three hours of cardio per day with plenty of energy to spare while suffering little to no muscle/strength loss. it took quite a while to get to this point of course, so my advice is (if this is beyond your “normal”) then back off a bit and ease into it. make sure you rebalance your nutrition requirements as you kick in the afterburners or you could easily waste away and feel like shit. eat enough extra calories to replenish your glycogen stores depleted during your cardio and no more. this way you can dump the fat and prevent muscle wasting while keeping your cardio tanks full of energy. cardio can really kick ass as long as you are smart about it. kevo
Your body is just trying to recover from a particularly long session. It isn’t overtraining until you don’t wait for complete recovery before you do it again.
