Sweatpants While Lifting?

Recently i’ve been thinking about this. I mainly train with rest periods of 1.5 to 3 minutes. I found during one workout that keeping my jumper (sweater for you yanks) on helped quite a bit.

Do you go to gyms?

I only wear those pants (we call them tracky dacks here) in winter when I’m hanging around the house or intentionally being daggy.

Yeah I’ll wear them to the gym, only because they’re easy to take off once I’m warm.

I hate sweating in long pants.

Yeah, I only see guys in shorts sometimes theres the crazy guy in the skin tight bike shorts. I guess I do see chicks in sweatpants but I count that as different than guys in the grey sweatpants from the 90s.

Franco Columbo says that unless you’re precontest and you need to see how your muscles are pumping up, you should put on sweats.

He was a big fan of the idea of blood volume whether you’re power -lifting or training for hypertrophy. His philosophy was to warm up for a good 10 minutes with calisthenics or cardio before touching weights then when it did come time to lift you always try to keep your blood in the body-part you’re working for the entire workout (so no total-body stuff. Upper-Lower or Bodypart Split)

You should wear whatever will benefit you most. Maybe not wearing sweats will allow you to be more comfortable and lift heavier weights and get stronger faster. Maybe you should conform to wearing sweats so you can lift with the big guys and have them push you to lift harder. Wearing sweats is an idea with merit.

Just for the record since this thread was still fresh in my mind I made a mental note and there was 9 other guys(besides me) wearing some form of sweat pants in the gym tonight. I don’t think I’m in some sort of 90s timewarp ha.

I wear a fleece and some sort of track/sweat(strange material) pants TO the gym most of the time throughout the year, then i strip it off after my warm up. I live in ohio. But during the summer I only wear my sleeveless and shorts.

I wear short shorts.

No, I am not kidding.

Yes, I look awesome.

Oh, I have no friends.

Think it might be because of the shorts?

I tried speedos once but when a few other gym goers fainted the management asked me to put some pants on.

The short shorts are a compromise.

Seriously, I wear the oldest cheapest shorts and tshirts I own to the gym becuase who cares?

My underwear are the most expensive items of clothing I own.

They were clean so he wore them.

There’s a few gyms around LA where I’m sure you could find some. Bring your shorts lol.

…so you lounge around in your armani jeans then?..occasionally a tuxedo?

I workout at a “hardcore” gym and all the big guys wear sweatpants and hoodies. I have seen a couple of them outside of the gym wearing the same thing.

I wear a hoodie and shorts to the gym, and have done so for the past couple or three years.

I think I originally wore the hoodie because it was clean and laying there, and over time, it became my ‘official’ gym shirt. I honestly can’t remember that well, though. If I don’t wear a sweatshirt nowadays, my upper body does get cold.

As far as hiding/showing off body parts, if it’s not obvious that you’re ‘big’ regardless of what you’re wearing, then you’ve got a long, long way to go.

Agreed. A lot of guys “dissapear” when they get out of underarmour or sleeveless shirts.

This is exactly why I find this thread kind of pointless. Iv known big guys who work out in sweats, and Iv known big guys who work out in short shorts and stringer tank tops (same gym clothes they wore in 1994). It doesnt matter what youre wearing, hell, I lifted in my khakis yesterday.

I wear like spandex or underarmor for underwear during squats because I ripped wayyy to many boxers, and I wear sweats during my warm up and take them off before doing weights, but other than that, does it really matter?

I wear sweats so I don’t blind anybody with my halogen-white legs.
