Running + PWO?

What do people drink for a PWO after running?

1/2 serving of post workout shake

then 40 minutes later oatmeal with a scoop of whey

i run in the mornings and kinda count both as one meal in my 5/6 meals a day split

I usually drink Surge after lifting weights, but I was wondering if a Strawberry-Banana smoothie would be a decent PWO after running?

Should I throw in some extra malto to make it better? Or should I just stick with the Surge?

depending what im running for…
-If its causes im chasing girls then probaly vodka.
-If its causes im try to drop BF then (Whey)protein and glutamine.
-If its cause im trying to get fit for something like Rugby then something like surge.

Why would you drink something different for running than weights? I think you should drink the same.

Catabolism is really bad with running, therefore your workout related nutrition becomes even more important, not less important. Getting pre-workout protein is even more important, and you’d want to be even more sure of getting your post workout nutrition right.

I always get some protein in before, usually oatmeal + Grow an hour before the run. Then Surge or something similar (I am broke) right after.

If it’s a long run, I take Gu every 4 miles (there are gels with protein in them but I haven’t found one that doesn’t also contain fructose which wreaks havoc on me during a run).

The only thing is, as JB said a P+C meal an hour afterwords is important.

I use Surge after doing intensive sprinting, etc. due to the tremendous full body effect I still seem to get… (hams, quads,abs, traps, etc.)it defenitely increases recovery time.

I wouldn’t use it on the treadmill, mile run, etc…

What would you use after the treadmill, mile run, etc… or in my case, 25 minute HIIT session on the stationary bike?

Hmmm, I guess if you’re actually doing HIIT style stuff on the bike then I would defenitely consider using Surge after. In that case what it may come down to is budget and remaining supply of Surge if that makes sense…

If you have a lot of Surge to use then I say defenitely use it! But if you start running low maybe save it for your weight workouts, etc. Surge will defenitely benefit after the HIIT style training though I beleive…
